Italian DNA is also present in Spain. Italian and Greek DNA is also present in Corsica and there was a huge Corsican migration to PR. French surname probably came form Haiti, not France.

Wow, thanks for letting me know the Earth is not flat. You have said nothing new. The term Latino refers to a cultural value. Spanish speaking people in Latin America share some values that are independent of skin color.

There is no point in having an argument about something that is meaningless. But, I am happy to agree with you. Anyone that is not a true Roman is not a Latin. No problem! And South Americans are not Hispanic because they were not born in Hispania.

That was truly touching video. I don't know you nor relationship with your life/heritage but when you pay your gratitude to people who fought to survive and consequently led your existence I was tearful. Your test just showed that nobody, no culture, one society, race is a native at one place. At one time every culture moved from one place to another for whatever reasons.

Wow your speech at @ 20:53-21:45 really moved me and was humbling. Yours is the best DNA results video I've seen and so inspirational because of how you embrace and connect with all your roots. I'm pretty certain your ancestors would be proud of you! I really recommend you read Conquistadora by Esmeralda Santiago if you have not done so already. It is a novel about a Spanish girl who is descended from Spaniard Conquistadors to the Spanish Caribbean who runs with a hacienda (plantation) in early - mid 19th century Puerto Rico. The author brilliantly dissects Puerto Rico's rich social, economic, gender and political history and also analyses a very strange but fascinatingly complex family. I reckon you would love it :)

I've been on an Ancestry KZread videos spree for the past hour, by far you have been the most interesting and genuine. Not in terms of results, but just the way you presented yourself. You weren't boring, you were articulate and not ignorant (which I guess some people can't help). You had a lot of background knowledge beforehand on both your heritage but also on the global scale which was relieving! I honestly didn't think I'd make it through your entire video but I did, I found you captivating and engaging. Do you speak Spanish? ¡Porque tu es muy linda! I'm also from the Caribbean and I do know a bit of my heritage, but I would like to know for sure as well. I think our results would be more compatible than the others. You've travelled a lot, how cool! I plan on traveling as an international social worker, after my studies. I've always wanted to live in China, how long have you been there and how do you like it? If you actually read all of this and answered me, I'd be impressed 😂😭

Thanks for the feedback! I don't get in front of the camera a whole lot, so I tried to give the kind of explanations and background info that I woud want to hear, I guess. Ha-ha, yes I do speak Spanish;-) Hablo bastante bien pero no perfecto. If you're thinking about traveling abroad for social work, particularly if for counseling services, I would strongly encourage you to take a look at the Middle East. If there was ever a place in desperate need of healing these days, I would say at least give it a look. I've been in China for about 3 weeks. I want to start doing some 'vloging,' particularly about larger cities, which I'm looking forward to visiting.

+teresa hernandez No problema. Y bueno, yo creo que la lenguaje es una parte importante de la cultura. Middle East for sure, numerous of places have gone through so much and are still to this day dealing with the repercussions. Omg you should definitely start vlogging!! I just started this KZread channel but I'm already looking at the vlogging option. But you totally should, let me live through you 😅 besides, you being a teacher, it could be informative as well as lighthearted. Give us a glimpse of the societal norms, make us aware of the issues and let us taste the culture and meet the children --with parent consent of course.-- Go for it chica!

Hi again Teresa, So I a AA, family is from the south. I was expecting a high % for African, because through out my life I have been asked if I was from Africa. but wow, I am 90% African! 23% benin togo 21% Cameroon, 18% Senagal, 10 % Nigeria. 5 % Great Britian, 1% Scandinvia 1% Native american 1%europe west. 1% West Asia. I did the test because of my family's Asian eyes. I wanted to know where that came from. And sure enough when you look at the benin & togo people they have asian eyes. When I saw their Art and sculptures I can see the similarties. Luv this and glad I took the test

Hi Teresa, I watched several ancestry results of Puerto-Ricans and Italy/Greece + Irish almost always show up, I saw it for Mexican-Americans too. All these results should be interpreted with extreme caution. Every company uses their own genetic markers. For example, 23andme uses markers for Balkans that includes Greece, Serbia, Albania etc... but of course, not Italy, so the splitting can be different depending on the methodology. If Ancestry DNA uses markers that point to the spreading of Latin + Greek genes during the ancient times, this might explain Italy/Greece being present in many people with Iberian ancestry ( the Iberian peninsula as the majority of Southern Europe was part of the Roman Empire). Of course, a more recent ancestry from Corsica/Italy from migration to Puerto Rico cannot be excluded. Concerning the Irish roots, this could be a problem of label. Iberians, especially in the western part (Galicians) have strong celtic roots, so it would point to a local Iberian celtic contribution. Due to the Moor influence, a Northern African and Arabic flow also took part to the genesis of Spanish people, even if it can be a sensitive issue for some. Andalucia, "Al Andaluz" is definitely an Arabic word.

I'm not even going to pretend to know for sure lol. I have gotten so many people guessing my heritage asking if I'm part Asian, South American, Caribbean, Dominican, even Filipino. I'm actually 72% African ( 30% Cameroon Congo / 18% Mali, 10% Ivory Coast Ghana, 5% Senegal, 3% Benin Togo, 2% South Central Hunter Gathers, 2% Nigeria, 1% Southeastern Bantu, and 1% Africa North) 24% European ( 9% Irish, 7% West European, 3% Great Britain, 3% Italy Greece, 2% European Jewish) 2% Asian ( 1% Central Asia, 1% South Asia) 1% Native American and 1% Caucasus...

I also took this test a few months ago as I had absolutely no idea where I came from, my mom was adopted & my biological father died while mom was still pregnant with me and I was raised by my step father believing he was my birth father until my teens, so needles to say this was exciting for me I too like you have been confused with all types of ppl From middle eastern to South American to Pakistani I will try to give u my full breakdown, I don't have access to my results right now so this is all by memory I'm 16% African(North,Senegal ,Mali & Nigerian ) 33% Italian & Greek 8% English 7 % Irish 7 % Native American 3% middle eastern 3% European Jewish Now I'm missing places but it's also European, I believe Germany Poland area... So that is most of me :) What I have been fascinated to find out is I seem to be Puerto Rican :) I have about 830 listed cousins on Ancestry(wow I know so many ) and I would say about 80% are all from la isla I have even been in contact with a 2nd cousin of mine who says we r from a place in PR called Agua Buenas

If you go to West Africa.....Nigeria, Ghana etc, there are many biracial people that look like you living there. The West Africans don't refer to biracial or mixed-race people as 'coloured'. Perhaps it's because we our experience with the colonials were similar but also different. If you visit coastal regions of West Africa, some of the people have your complexion because of merchants that came from Europe such as Britain, Germans, portuguese/Spanish and Dutch had intimate relationships with the local women and these women were left with Biracial children. Also, there were trade relations from The North of Africa, Arab and Asia regions ith the west Africans and you see people in the Northern part of Nigeria that are equally fair light-skinned in complexion but, with more Arab/Asian features and DNA.

@@goldo1107 Are you talking about Dominicans in the USA? I ask because behaviors can be very different between people who remain in their native land and those who become USA citizens or are born USA citizens. The statistics I have available for Dominicans tell me that the majority identify as mixed. They are neither claiming whiteness nor blackness. The Dominican Republic's census shows that the population describes itself as 70% of racially mixed origin, 16% Black, and 14% White. So 86 percent of island Dominicans identify as mixed and black. Only 14% identify as white. That doesn't look as if they are placing white over black . How those in the USA identify themselves on average I don't know. Neither can I base my conclusions on individual experiences since they might not be representative but only local manifestations. For example, I lived among Dominicans in New York city and went to church with them and did not notice that overwhelming predominance of African characteristics you mention. There was a variety of physical appearances ranging from Nordic, to Amerindian, to black to mixed. So our experience differs. In fact, I was surprised to find so many that looked northern European. I expected what you describe instead.

Many of them always talk very badly of Hatians and get offended if you ever try to imply that they look similar, even tho a lot of dominicans have Hatian ancestors. It's ridiculous. France was a province of the Roman Empire for hundreds of years, of course, but Italian migration into France has been going on, in different migration cycles, for centuries. It is those two DNAs which primarily created the Spanish ethnic group with number 2 introducing the Latin language which evolved in the Iberian Peninsula into Castillian or Spanish.

The reason that is provided for bringing in more Europeans to Puerto Rico is that the Spain was losing colonies to independence movements all over Latin America and it feared that the natives would become restless as well. So they began bring in Europeans whom they felt did not have independence aspirations. Excerpt By 1825, the Spanish Empire had lost control of all of its territories in the Americas with the exception of Puerto Rico and Cuba. These two possessions were also demanding more autonomy, and pro-independence movements had been gathering strength. Trying to forestall the loss of these colonies, the Spanish Crown revived the Royal Decree of Graces of 1815. It printed the decree in English and French, as well as Spanish, and distributed copies throughout Europe to attract non-Spanish settlers. The Crown offered free land on the condition that new settlers swear their loyalty to the Spanish Crown and allegiance to the Roman Catholic Church. They hoped to supplant the independence movement with new settlers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Decree_of_Graces_of_1815

So perhaps your Italy/Greece is just a general south Europe tied to your Spanish side, and it is very possible the North African is from the Spanish side as well.
