Hi Kaity, I'm so glad you're achieving your goals little by little and at a steady pace. I'm sure this year comes with lots of surprises. Your tanks look pretty good; this time my favorite one is the Tanganyika setup because of the little babies. Here in the southern hemisphere is the breeding time for many species, my cichlids are in the same process. I hope you had a nice New Year's Day with your loved ones. ¡Blessings and greetings from Peru🙌!!!

Happy New Year to you, the Tanganyikan tank is absolutely my favourite. I have a mixed tank myself which has some malawi along with Mbuna and Neolamprologus Brichardis. Seen some fry recently which i was suprised to see were not picked off so the parents must be doing something right. Its actually quite funny watching the little Brachardis bullying away the larger fish that come near.

Hi Kaity! Love your videos. Thank you for the updates. I am super excited to see how your Lake Tanganyika tank turns out. I would love to see an video where you interview Finn from Atlas Aquarium about Lake Tanganyika. I saw that he recently traveled there and it would be amazing to hear about the experiences he had and advice he might have with Lake Tanganyika aquariums.

Cyprichromis-sardine cichlids. Get a few more so you can have a school, they swim in groups like their saltwater namesakes. Been awhile since I watched your videos. Just built a 125g Tanganyikan tank as well. I stacked rock along the back with round river rocks, but I put egg crate on the bottom where they are, placed the rock, then poured in sand. Im keeping multis and brichardii, and working on getting leleupi, a featherfin trio, and some Julies. Avoiding the predatory fish that you have. I breed fish and trade them to the store usually for credit which usually gets immediately burned on food. I have an overflow and a 40g sump and without fail even bottom dwelling small fish end up in there making them easy to catch and toss into a grow out tank. Now if only the multis- would move out of the rocks and into the shells that outnumber them 3 to 1. I find it interesting about your Tropheus. You dont normally see them in community tanks. I might have to get a few in the future when things calm down a bit.

I love my Leleupi / Lemon Cichlid and seeing them have babies are great. And it is abit difficult for me to catch them in a net to move them in a grow out tank because they move so fast. And they are living in a 20 gallon / 75.7 liter tank. Hope your babies get a chance to survive with all your cichlids. Plus watching mine grow and seeing the color change is nice.

My cichlids had some fry roaming around after i got them at the pet store. So far ive had 6 survive and theyve gotten pretty big and I think I also have some breeding going one under the rocks and theres always two of them down under the rock. Theyve dug all the way to the glass. The digging is insane they just shovel the rocks like little bulldozers. Majority of the rock is texas holey rocks and yes its heavy even the small ones are heavy and it scares me with all the digging😅 I hope some of yours grow up to be big, its pretty cool watching them grow up.

Great video Kaity. fantastic information . i think it would be a good idea in the breeding . my thoughts are add some more stone in the breeding area's creating coverage for fry . a pond is a great idea . fish? i think would be your preference in what catches your eye. I have in my pond's a selection of non fancy gold fish , shubunkin are my favourite in my opinion they have a better chance of survival not knocking the fancy gold fish some look great but are harder to keep alive due to the way they are breed. Thankyou again Manny from Perth 😊

hi kaity! loving your tanks almost as beautiful as you! thanks for sharing as always ! stay safe dear! many blessings! i absolutely love the predatory haps!!! just be careful mixing them with mbuna! their diet, tendencies and behavior are very different! i dont want yours getting bloat! from my experience yellow labs in particular are super hardy for mbuna and last forever even when not on strictly vegetarian diet as they supplement with natural growing algae howver in my experience it definitely does shorten their life span by quite a bit! id definitely keep that in mind! edit: also the presence of females in a mixed african tank is definitely going to off set your tanks balance! the size of your tank is likely doing you alot of favors! id for sure keep an eye on the aggression! definitely better to have an All male tank or you may start having fins getting ripped and scales torn off which can lead to disease and weakened immune systems all factors which effect the long term stability of your aquarium! i would keep an eye on the breeding and keep it under control , protective parents have a tendency to take over the tank

Do you have any problems as for feeding ? since Frontosa are more proteins based and Tropheus all veggies ? cause I was going o buy 8 to 10 of them to add with my 3 Frontosa this week-end but I saw a few video who discourage to mix them because of that. Do you have any problems related to that and if you dont what are you feed them (community) ? Thank you for your video find them really helpful.

Hi, the red/yellow tail one is called sardine cichlid. As some one already suggested should be kept in a group. If you out 3/4 females the male will start doing the breading ritual which is pretty cool to look at. As for the babies, apart from the other fish you have clavus and compressiceps they are ruthless so you might get one or two babies survive if they are lucky.

I would leave the fry just like the wild the strong will survive 👍🏼 it's all a learning curve my tropheus use to be lucky to keep one fry now I have to many 😅

I've just changed my rainbowfish/turtle tank to a peacock tank ( turtle died😭 husband took the Rainbowfish) so I'm now a African Cichlid keeper, not sure how I feel about it yet lol. It's funny how u just get a feeling when the tank is your style. My husband had some Red Forrest jewels breed in a community tank. After the fry kept getting picked off a few times he used the syphon hose and sucked them into a bucket and transferred them into a small cycled tank. There ended up being about 15 that went to a local fish store.

Yay for African Cichlids!! 🐟 That's so true. I'm definitely a simplistic, fish focused, bright colour person. Whereas some people are totally more into the naturalistic styles. That's the best part about it though, you can really make it your own!!
