I first discovered you, Nikol, less than a year ago...I was instantly drawn to your style - the clothing, the hair, the makeup. I think you're absolutely gorgeous - and part of that is the grey hair! I've recently committed myself to going grey. I'm naturally blond, 57 years old, still youthful looking (thank goodness). But going grey. And I have to say - I am excited!!! And this video helped tremendously. Thank you for being you!

I went not gray but platinum. Was so pleased with the color when I stopped using L’Oréal #9 natural blonde. Have a youthful haircut and at 82, and a 13 lb. loss, I’m feeling pretty good about myself.

I dyed mine so long, I wasn’t aware of how much gray I had. Finally went cold turkey and didn’t look back. A haircut helped as I was blond with lots of gray, so that helped, looked like highlights. By the time I was used to the new color and cut, chemo took it all. Now, it’s back and looks better than ever. Letting it grow to my Bob. Lol! Your hair is fabulous and gets better every year!

You must have the support of your stylist! I loved my former salon and the stylists I met there, but when I chose to stop coloring (I was constantly fighting a front streak with color, hair mascara, powders) I did not feel the love. I found a wonderful new salon and stylist who was excited to support my transition to grey. It made all the difference in the world. I’ll never go back to coloring. My only disappointed is how much brown I still have in the back! I’m 68 and I ceased my war on grey four years ago. You have to be happy with your own choice. Best wishes to all 🎄❤️❄️

Thank you for all of your uplifting videos. I’m at the beginning of my gray, (white) hair journey. So far I’m doing OK. I’m 69 years old so I don’t feel it’s as hard as if I was much younger. When I feel like I might want to color my hair I watch one of your wonderful videos and it empowers me to move forward not coloring it. My husband has also helped with being very positive about my transitioning hair. Thank you again and have a wonderful holiday!

I clicked on your video as I had decided to go natural and wanted some advise and encouragement. What I got was so much more! I’m 61 and retired from Pharmacy in April of this year. Since then I have felt sort of lost, searching for a purpose and with COVID, totally floundering. With your encouragement and tutorials of practical advise, I finally remember a little of myself I thought I had lost. You are a wonderful motivational speaker and excellent teacher. I want to thank you for the inspiration you give me. You are beautiful inside and out!

You're so sweet. My hair is blonde and I have stopped highlighting for over three years. I still get the itch to add color but my stylist refuses to do it. I loved this video. I am 82 years old. I have colored my dark hair for several years and haven’t colored it since last February because of COVID and also because of your encouraging videos. I’m finding that my gray has a lot of black in it. I’m liking what I see and wish I had never started coloring it. Of course the fading color on the ends look a bit red, but I’m staying strong and I don’t plan to color it anymore. Thanks for your help. You continue to help all of us.

Great video! This is SO helpful and probably perfect timing for me. I’m 39 and trying to embrace this journey right now. I feel exactly like what you said! I felt like I had tonnes of grey when I was dyeing my hair (my natural hair is almost black) but now I’m exactly 3 months into the journey today, and feeling rather awkward! I’ve got a more prominent side of greys but kinda not much else, some sparkle here and there! But I needed to hear this today, and you are right, I feel like I need to see this journey through even if I change my mind after! It’s been so long since I’ve seen my natural hair, I think I just owe it to myself to give my poor hair a good break from the dye! Love your videos Nikol ❤️❤️

2 years ago, my hairstylist told me I had about 60% gray- I was shocked and in denial. I've been coloring my hair in some fashion since I was 16. Cut to age 61 and I had no idea what my natural hair color was! I decided to not color about a year ago so now I have about 6" of light ash brown tinged with silver streaks and I LOVE it. I just keep cutting my old dyed hair off and eventually it will all be natural and I'm never going back.

Hi Nikol, I decided to stop colouring my hair about 3 years ago, I knew I had some silver grey in there so I decided to give it a go. My hair is quite short, the person that gave me my inspiration was Beth Djalali. I also follow and watch her posts as well as yours and I know you've met Beth and done a makeover with her. Nikol its the best thing I ever did. My hair is a light silver grey and its in so much better condition now. So for all those ladies out there just go for it, I'm 61 so not old but people have even told me I look younger. Thank you for all your great advice regards Julie from England 🇬🇧 x❤

I’m about 7 months into my gray hair journey and what amazes me is that most of my gray is underneath in the front. When I wear it down you can’t really see most of it. I never knew that because I colored it a lot. I always tell myself if I don’t like it I can just dye it. My 21 year old daughter gave me her blessing and that helped me get started !

I just want to say that you've inspired me to cut my hair. I've got a huge grey streak at the front of my hair and the rest has become so thin, that even though I've had a long bob, it has looked straggly. Today I went to the hairdresser and got a pixie cut. I've had some great comments from friends already. But more importantly Nikol, I love it! Thanks so much for all you do on your channel. xx

I jumped onto that bandwagon in 2020, partly because I’m tired of getting my hair colored every couple of months. The hair around my face has gone “platinum” so I thought I would see what would happen. I’m turning 72 and figure it’s time. When I was young, my Dad pegged my hair color as dirty dishwater blonde and it has stuck in my head. My stylist is helping me through this long process and, as you say, I can always go back if I don’t like it. But so far so good! I love your sweater (having moved from Florida to the north Georgia mountains). I enjoy your videos and appreciate the time you spend to encourage us! Blessings!

I love your videos they have really helped me on my own gray journey. In February I had purple hair and decided to bleach it, a very bad mistake, it ruined my hair texture, it felt like straw no matter what I did. Then in June, I had a hair cut and dyed my hair in a silver-tone to blend into my natural hair color, then in July I decided to get a pixie cut to get rid of all the bleach and the dye, now it's slowly growing out into a bob and I'm loving the color of my natural gray hair.

Correct Nikol! I let it grow out for a year and found out I wasn’t as grey as i thought. I had 2 patches one in the front and one in the back, so I went back to coloring, for now anyway. I give it another go in a couple years. I did like the FREEDOM of not coloring.

I love this so much! I will be at one year of growth at the end of Feb and I'm so happy with my decision. I have noticed that my "new" hair is a different texture due to not putting it thru the constant chemical processing. I ended up having 4 different shades (who knew lol :)) I have white, silver, blond and brown. I've been asked how my hair dresser was able to give me so many highlights lol. I have white, white hair, it was dirty blonde before (started going white at 17 years old). I eased into going full head white by gentle, hand dyed peroxide streaks. When all my head was white, people thought (and still think!) it’s peroxide ash, cold white! Love the idea of a black streak.

I enjoyed your video, I made my decision in june of 2021, when a few friends commented on my hair, and just noticed the difference in my hair color, I was upset because of the fact I was a beautiful auburn/red all of my life, just to much processing, auburn and red is hard. I am 68 and I now am on my journey , I have a beautiful crown of white hair with a demarcation line, of 3 inches, many colors showing up, my husband loves it when I pull it to a ponytail and calls it my fox tail. I have wanted to give in, but no go. I am now ready to go for the bob cut. He tells me if people can walk around with purple, green, yellow hair...... you got this, he tells me you earned that crown wear it well and with pride, ty for the video

I'm sixteen months into my transition. All the old dyed brunette is gone and one of the biggest changes I've noticed since not slathering and smothering my scalp with all-over color is all the new baby hairs that have sprouted along my hairline. My scalp can actually breathe again.

thank you so much, you are such an inspiration! and looking at your rock and roll style is so funny! like everybody else during the pandemic its been a year now since my last visit to the hair salon! going gray is dull! I look washed out! but, I am afraid of adding more colors except with my eyes, I use a lot of eyeliner, when wearing a mask but I never wear red lips, never!

I needed this video! It made me cry. My hair has always been my "identity," so I'm terrified to go gray and terrified to cut it. It just happens that I'm getting my hair cut today, and I've been torturing myself leading up to it. But I'm going to be courageous! By the way, I haven't dyed in over three months. I had no idea what color my hair really is, but I'm starting to see it now. Thank you for the inspiration, Nikol.

Same here.....my hair, I felt, was my identity. I always wore it long. I had been coloring for 20 years and stopped two years ago. I was kind of painful. I certainly didn't look like Nikol!! My hair was gray in the front and ashy with a little gray mixed in. It wasn't my old vibrant brown with some gray. It was something I never expected. It was a shock. But I feel so free not chasing that white (gray) line with hair color.

I quit coloring my hair in 2014. I had been ill and grew the roots out just because I was so sick. I was 61. The grey roots showed me I had a nice salt and pepper going. I got a super short pixie and that really helped. It felt great!! Short hair needs frequent cuts so I kept it very short until the old dye was gone which took about 7 or 8 months for me. I wished I had done it sooner. Actually I realized I should have never colored it. My hairdresser was great and she gave me tips. The best was to start using the Purple shampoo.

Your hair is so gorgeous. I love not having roots anymore but do sigh my gray was as nice and yours. The front of my hair is silvery white which I love but the back is that mousy brownish gray and always looks dull no mater what I use. I want silver hair.

I am one of the ladies at 56 who not only went grey, but found my curly waves. When I let my highlights grow out I did tone them to get them less bright blonde. I now see my hair after 30 years and hardly had any grey11 Now I want grey highlights!! LOL.. Adding makeup is a great idea but I have very sunken deep set eyes and I have trouble with eyeshadow. I would love you to do a tutorial for very deep set eyes. Right now I need to use derma-blend concealer to take away the blue..I get lots of shadows!!

I’ve started my transition to grey. So I have 2inch silver roots. They are sooo loud! I’m going cold turkey so I learn what colour my natural hair is. I’ve also asked my hairdresser to keep a note of my hair dye colour, just in case I hate it!

Love my hair. Mine came in mostly white. I have dark gray/silver hair lights put in. I think the key is a stylish/cutting edge haircut. I get so many compliments on my hair. It has given me more confidence. I think if you do it right, you actually look younger. Nothing is more aging on a woman than coloring your hair dark. In most cases it emphasizes your wrinkles and screams that you are trying too hard. I was a brunette who initially went blond when the gray came in. It was a bad choice. I felt uncomfortable in my skin and it showed. My other tip is to bite the bullet and cut it as short as you can when you decide to transition.

I started my grey goal in November 2020. I just turned 49 and said I’m done. I have a silly spot that no matter what never took the dye. I’m extremely excited and nervous but more excited. I have two questions please 1 I use keratin ( i will not do now )but could I go back? And 2 I don’t wear makeup everyday ( yours is amazing) when I do it’s eyeliner thin and massage no face creams or anything. I’ve been pretty blessed with even skin tone. How do I wear lipstick if I never did
