    Yeah, the price is pretty close, sounds like it might be worth the hundred bucks to have the broiler lever and vent, but this seems like a great option if you'd rather spend that on meat instead.

    Another great video Vanessa. I too have a recently purchased 700fb and I am very happy with it. Just an FYI, I did put a rod on it to expose the flame broiler and it was very easy. I also purchased a stack from Smoke Daddy Inc and I feel it allows for better smoke as it draws the smoke across the meat while cooking. Keep up the good work mam! I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

    I love your videos. Nice rooster in the background. I just purchased my first wood pellet grill a PB700FB. I used your install video to assemble my grill. Really helped. I am going to do my first smoke within the next couple of days. I live in Saskatoon so as you probably know it's been really cold here. I just purchased a thermal cover from Pitt Boss in Edmonton. Just for your info, by putting on a smoke stack, adding a front shelf and modifying your hopper voids your warranty. Why I don't know. That is just what I was told by Pitt Boss. If you can find them Lumber Jack pellets are really good as well. I have been advised by serious smokers in Saskatchewan only use Pitt Boss or Lumber Jack pellets in my PB700FB. You are doing a great job with your videos and after seeing all you have cooked you have given me motivation to dive right in. Keep on rolling the smoke ...

    Hey Michael! Thank you so much for your support and helpful tips! Knowing Canada, I know you are facing harsher weather than we are here in BC, kudos to you! I have also heard down the grape vine about the voiding of warranty as well. I'll see how I feel about modifying my grill in the future. There is a 5 year warranty on all grills purchased after September 2018 based on 6 part categories. I don't understand how a warranty would become void if I drilled a hole in the side of the barrel to allow a shelf to be installed, but then months go by and my auger decides to fail. There is no way those two things are connected. Again, I'll think about it lol! As for the Lumberjack pellets, I've also heard from other pellet grill enthusiasts, that these are great pellets too! Unfortunately, they aren't sold anywhere near me. If I get an opportunity to buy them one day, I'll definitely do that. Again, thanks for the comments and support! I hope you enjoy your new Pit Boss as much as I have! Good luck with everything!

    agreed on the hopper. Put the smokestack and side shelf on (super easy bolt-ons) - I bought a cover for an 820 so it still fits, and I like both (side shelf has pegs for utensils but the holes in mine are a bit small so I plan to ream them out). Tried covering the holes in the back but the magnets were kind of weak and apparently the wrong type so they mostly fell off when it got hot. I do think the hopper feed is only so-so thoguh I haven't had it actually be a problem - just seems like it could be. I can move the broiler plate with a BBQ fork easily enough, but it's still annoying and a rod/lever would be great (I may add one someday but I'm just making do for now). have considered putting fancier electronics on it but I'm happy with how easy the grill is to use. If they canceled the 700FB, they brought it back. The classic is available as well for about 100 bucks more.

    I have been using the smallest Pit Boss the tailgater since July 2017. It only has the 1 cooking grate, I would like the higher grate for smoke cooking buterflyed leg of lamb on a grating above a pan of potatoes letting the fat drip onto the potatoes below. The tailgater feeds from the left and the slope of the hopper is like the one in your review so for slow low heat smoking I use a charcoal starter over the grating in the hopper with the lid open it holds about 5 pounds of extra pellets which drop as needed, and smokes for 12 + hours. The sliding plate could use a rod to pull/push for open flame grilling, I cut 3 of the slots into a square opening so I can vacuum the ash without taking everything apart and for better searing. Cooking a steak for myself I run the tailgater on the 500 degree setting put frozen 1.5 inch thick steak cut from an under the blade roast right over the flame pot with the sear plate covering the flame pot, this gives a 20 minuet Pittsburgh rare steak 10 min each side lid closed with some Montreal Steak seasoning charred on the outside rare on the inside really tender and juicy.

    I've had mine since the summer of 2020 and I'll never go back to a regular grill. Your pros and cons are very similar to mine but nothing to really cry about. I usually take the upper rack right out, that allows me to reach to the back of the smoker when I'm doing large batches of food. You might want to try store bought chunks of pea-meal bacon. Carefully rinse some of the brine off as it can get quite salty as is it cooks. The result compares to deli style smoked pork loin at maybe a quarter of the price. Thanksgiving turkey worked out well too. It's almost impossible to dry out turkey when you're going low and slow.

    Thanks for the 6 month update on your Pittt boss 700fb..As i have never used pellet's yet, but i have on order a new Pitt Bull 700fb which i will not receive until Dec 28th ,2020. Looking forward to this new adventure so to speak on grilling.. I appreciate your cons and pros as this will help me when i get started what to look out for ..I am curious on how cold of temps have you successfully cook /grilled on your Pitt Bull ??     Thanks for the review, looks like its a good value, but I'm leaning for their next step up model now . Looks like they did start adding a handle for the broiler on this 700 model, but the 850 competition includes a vent and wifi / blutooth option for a bit more than 100 higher, seems like a good deal.

    I thought about trying one of those things in my pellets you place inside of an acoustic guitars sound hole to dehumidifi so moisture won't warp the wood inside and the neck of the guitar. Keeping one in the bucket with the pellets after I empty the box when I'm done cooking. I'm in Alabama and it gets really humid here.

    Living in the wettest area of North American on the West Coast, I've hadn't had any problems so far! Even kept the pellets outside during our winter was fine too. As long as they are kept in air tight sealed containers, you should be golden!

    I love my 700, it's crushing smoking so far. But I'm having hell trying to find options for a flat top griddle insert/accessory. I find plenty in search, go to the page, but it won't confirm that it fits the 700. Even PitBoss main site, doesn't confirm, that I've found. Anyone have a griddle accessory for the 700 they can share model or link to?

    this is still the best pitboss - in my opinion. Ive had mines for 4yr now'and still use it 3 times a week -most times with no problem. Yes the newer ones are bigger' and with better ash cleaning system -ect ect you can just slide the newer one's back and the ash will fall out. Also I love the slideing sear on the newer one's however the 700fb is awesome.

    Great videos. I just bought a 700T1. It's a lot like yours except it has the smoke stack and lever for the broiler. I 100% agree with your cons. I took the top shelf out on my first cook of drumsticks because it was just in the way. Also ran out of pellets on my first cook because they didn't move down and left a void above the auger. Do I like it? We shall see.

    I agree the second shelf just gets in the way, i just removed mine when cooking big stuff and burgers that need flipped, i do think pit boss engineering should have built a better hopper!

    Really good review. There aren't many on KZread. I may pick one up today. Would you feel comfortable being able to put a brisket on it at night and heading to bed while it smokes? I always insert a thermometer probe with alarm of course.

    Hi Charles, thanks for the great question! I have not cooked a brisket yet only because there isn't enough people to eat it. However, I have woke up at 4am to start a large pork butt. I did go back to bed, but knowing I have something cooking, I can't seem to fully get back to sleep. I know some people go to bed easily, others not so easy, so I think it depends on you. I feel as long as your hopper is filled to the top and you have it at a low temp (200°F) or in P4/P5 Smoke mode, it should be no problem to leave for 6-8 hours during the night. Lots of people do it, I have yet to do this. Hope this helps! Thank you for your support!

    The handle is too high over the lid. You risk burning your forearm reaching over to close it. The sear plate i am able to open and close with a long curved spatula. No need to remove the grate. I like your idea of removing the hopper screws for the grate. Thanks for the review.

    I've had this pellet smoker for a while and have followed your directions in cooking a few pork butts. I've used smokers with the offset smokebox and have loved the results. The drawback is having to stay to tend the fire which is why I was excited to get the pellet smoker which can just be set. My biggest disappointment however is this "smoker" adds very little smoke taste to the meat. All the flavor pretty much comes from the rub. These smokers are just low to high temperature outdoor ovens. They simply are not smokers, not if you've ever used a real smoker. I've made all the little modifications with the p setting, and even closing up some of the holes, but it does not change it at all. I've recently had to purchase a smoker tube, but how sad is it to have to buy a smoker tube for your smoker! This should not be called a smoker. Anyone else had the same experience?

    I have found that if you want a more intense smoke flavour you need to cook at the lower temps (200) for a longer period of time. I have the PB 700fb1 and am extremely pleased with her so far.

    I just bought this exact grill. My temperatures are fluctuating 40-50 degrees higher than the settings. One pissed off griller.

    I find a small inconsistency as well. I just assume heat rises so the door would be a little higher than the digital probe

    Really depends on how much I was using it and how hot or cold the day was. In the winter, you will go through more per hour bec the outside temp cools it down so quickly. Same with the summer. When it's hot, burn through less an hour bec outdoor temp helps heat the grill.

    I'm not entirely sure how to answer this. It is kept outside underneath a grill cover. I clean it before every cook, however, I do live in the wettest area of the province, so the air has a lot of moisture. Not sure how to prevent this? It doesn't effect the cook at all.

    I've gone through bags and bags of pellets now, both Pit Boss and Lumberjack brands with no issues. No need to sift.

    No that's not correct... The cap on the stack is adjustable (for temperature control) where the 5 rear vent holes are not...

    Yes, this is correct as well! I see most people just leave the cap open completely. I haven't seen maybe people use it to dial in the temperature, they just adjust their P setting or change the temp on the control panel.

    @@grillinwithv4028 iit's more difficult to maintain consistent temperatures at lower temperature settings... obviously because the wind and leaks have more of an effect at lower cooking temperatures. By reducing the exhaust by closing the stack cap, more heat can be retained within the cooking chamber thus providing more consistent temperatures at lower & slower cooking temperature settings
