It's my first time getting locs and I actually started mine 1 month and 1/2 after yours (Feb 15). It's been fun following your journey, it's nice to feel like my locs are growing beside someone else's instead of watching people who are years into their journey. I love seeing how my hair changes and I'm learning to appreciate it for what it is instead of dreaming about what it could be. Love your videos !!!

Love the way you worded that! “Appreciate what it is instead of dreaming about what it could be”! That’s it. Thanks for being here along with me on the journey. I’m glad you’re enjoying it!! ♥️
Im 1 year in and loving the journey ❤ it's just touching my shoulder now and I'm constantly jumping feeling I have a bug on me😂 I cannot wait till they get to my bra strap. Started using conditioner just before the year mark and what a difference it makes! Thankyou for your videos. Stay blessed 🙌🏾
I started January 20, 2024. I’m so glad I found you. I just started maintaining my own this last month and loving my journey so far.

Wonderful! You got this!! 😊
I started my locs December 13th, so I'm currently almost 6 months in my loc journey. I'm so happy that I have someone, a professional who started almost the same time as me. I'm so grateful for that 😊😊 I can't wait for my locs to fully mature because the frizz and working in corporate, it's a lot 😂😂 Keep the updates coming, sis❤

I have so many clients with the same frizz issue at work! I long for a day when it just doesn't matter! smh but I'm glad you're here. I'll keep the updates coming! How often would you like to see them?

@@CourtneyGrayton thanks for responding. Me too but for now, we have got to work with it, lol. Thanks for having me and the updates would be nice once in a while, so it doesn't overwhelm you. But whatever you are okay and comfortable with, I'm here for all of it.
I honestly appreciate your transparency. I didn’t like my first set of locs because I did em myself. Sometimes it’s ok to let someone else do it. Bc Chile I be tired.😭
I just recently started my 5th and last set. I did an undercut this time before I started so I won’t have to do it once I start. I have 42locs this time which is what I wanted. Every time I start I’m like ok there going to be thick. But they’re never the thickness that I want. Now I know I had a little too many 74 is way to much for me. So this time I showed my loc stylist what I was going for a picture. She saw she gave, so I’ll keep ya posted, it will be a month for me Aug 15. I haven’t washed it as of yet I just spray with rose 🥀 water and I had some oils I’ve made added tea tree in it. I will be going for my 1st retwist in 2weeks.
Loc's run number two Had a good run the 1st time just didn't let them grow long *purposely (I like'd the short look) But gon' let them get long this time Your videos are helping me maximize my loc's and maintain ALL my growth 😘 ty.

Thanks for sharing!! Yes, I love the short look too. It’s going to be interesting when they eventually get long!
I just started my journey and feeling really good about it. Your Locs are beautiful and I am definitely inspired all the more by your update. Ty
Hi Courtney! I love your locs and your channel. I’m almost 2 months in, same texture and I’m obsessed! 😆 I appreciate everything you share. I also can’t wait until that 1 year mark but I’m trying to be patient and just enjoy. Keep posting so I know what to expect lol.

I am here because I just started my locs. Going back and watching a number of your videos
Reveal...reveal....reveal! 😅 ( when the scarf came off!!) Loving your locs! I am at my almost 6 month loc journey! This does definitely require patience.... I am like loc' already hair! I am experiencing budding...mine is still kind of short...so I just wear them going completely back w/ Head bands!! Are my bf...I get my retwist like every 4-5 weeks....I will stretch longer...when they completely loc? I love the makeup applications that you share w/ us...as you walk us through your process & journey! I don't currently wear makeup...but maybe one day.... I want do the shells one day...& definitely I want the loc sprinkles!! I too am from the DMV!! 😊 Thanks for the updates! Let's 🎉celebrate the process! Loc's are coming along!! ❤😊
Hi Courtney!! New subbie here...your locs are as beautiful as you are!! I started my journey 9 months ago and I must say...I am in love with my locs, from day one❤😊
"Periodddt!" @23:17....soooo cute! Thanks for sharing
You and your hair are beautiful! And you never lied about PG county and the DMV being “loc land” 😂😂😂 I installed some locs last Christmas and had to take them down this February because of the parting in my back row. I was so sad cause I was actually loving them so much but I have a huge fear of my locs snapping off 😢 and my scalp always itches. I want to restart my journey when my hair grows back out (I did a big chop-buzz cut 2 weeks ago for a fresh start) but my scalp won’t let me be great. Everything makes my scalp itch. I’ll just live through you and everyone else around me until i get my scalp figured out. And yes, I think 5 month loc updates are just right so that you can see the true changes in your locs. Thanks for the update and sorry for my dissertation comment 😂😂😂.

listen!! I love seeing locs everywhere I go! 🥹 I completely relate to the scalp problems bc I’ve dealt with the same thing! I hope it gets better for you so you can come on back to the loc’d side! Have you had an allergy test done before? They’re usually super enlightening! I loveee dissertation comments so don’t apologize!! 🥰

@@CourtneyGrayton Bless your heart 😊❤. I never had an allergy test, but just off you mentioning it, I will schedule an appointment to see if that helps! Thank you for the suggestion and all that you do ❤.
I love your locs, I feel the same way, no matter what style I do it’s too tight. I love my nappy roots now. I do a water and oil retwist and love how free and healthy my hair feels! ❤

Like to follow your journey monthly or every two months and I didn’t mention it is my first time locing, wanted to for a long time, years even!❤
Love the look! Im over 2 years. Started with 2 strands diamond parts. Now, having them interlocked for past year. I wish i went bigger. Lock are different lengths and thinned out. My hair is slow to grow and im too reluctant to start over. I'll live vicariously through you😊

I am 7 months in and I am loving my journey. Although my hair is fine and thin but since locing and spraying it’s looking more coarser. But how can I have the top not look so spacey? I love your locs and your videos and you! You are beautiful sis! 😊
I love your locs very beautiful 😍 i want to start my third set of locs soon.

Juneteenth makes 1 month. I booked my retwist today. My hair just got frizzy, but the parts have grown out a lot
Your locs look great! I'm 9 months in and you are such an inspiration. I love my 4C hair texture. I have some cowrie shells but I do not know how to put them in. How do you put yours on your locs?

What will help my locs to get thicker ? They seem so puffy (feel like clouds) which is keeping them from really dropping its been 8 mths now. I just dont have the body and thickness that i really desire. I have 4b/c hair and about 120 locs... Do u have any advice ?
@CourtneyGrayton

Just stay the course! They have no choice but to drop eventually
Have you used the made for locs products? Im about to start my 2 strand twist journey. Just wanting oils shampoos moisture?

I’m thinking of getting microlocs, but my question is can it be done with c-shaped parts instead of box parts?

New to locs.. I want my locs to stand up for as long as possible and I’m not a fan of the scalpy look. Kinda like a loc-fro (not free form). What method and parting system would you recommend..? Also just subscribed.. Good Stuff..! Thanks
@CourtneyGrayton
Ай бұрын
You can get the look with any parting system really because it comes down to the actual maintenance. You may want to consider semi-freeform if you’re looking to keep that look permanently. Otherwise, do it like me! My hair stands up for about 3 weeks or so until I get a retwist and then it’s neater for 1-2 weeks
