Suggestion, Move the ifak from your headrest to the other headrest. This way you can reach it in an emergency that you are trapped. Also prestage your tourniquet on the outside of your ifak.

Agreed. That's exactly how I store mine. Also, consider moving the glass breaker/seatbelt cutter to your visor, instead of the center console so you don't have to go digging for it in an emergency.

I’m from Michigan, and you clearly know what it’s like in the winter time. We carry essentially the same preps. When a power outage during a blizzard occurs- there’s going to be no one to save you. Just hate that we gotta bring half of the garage to be prepared for the road😂

I would add more for your emergency vehicle kit A glass breaker, or way to cut plexiglass and seatbelt cutter. A single walled stainless canteen and a larger container for water since you are in a truck. The lifestraw one won’t be useful if it’s frozen or need to gather water to boil or snow to melt. People don’t like Serpa holsters because you press in along the trigger guard and people end up drawing their pistol and continue to press down under stress. Also the button can get jammed with dirt and debris.

I carry that plastic shipping tape, like on fridge boxes and that works like a slim jim for opening the lever on a door from the inside. Just fold in half, crimp it with your teeth, shove it in the window and then manipulate it over the door latch, use wire and electrical tape with the strap to make a hook if it's keys on a seat or the floor. When doen roll like an ace bandage and zip tie it, about the size of electrical tape. Keep a couple shims in the kit to hold open the window easily. Great vid! I'm skipping around looking for vids, as I think about freshening up the supplies in my 53 yo truck. '02 truck? Just a baby!

I have a similar setup but the fire extinguisher is mounted in the cab for quick access. To have to open a locked box to open another box and rummage around to grab an extinguisher takes a lot of time under stress, just ask me how I know. Also heavy pair of gloves on door and window breaker mounted on door as well with a second breaker mount on outside of overhead console. When you are upside down in your vehicle everything falls to the roof having a mounted breaker in reach is essential.

Regarding your slim jim door unlocking tool, that tool can be deadly with these newer cars with side airbags. This was device was invented years ago before all the airbags. People have gotten these slim Jim’s impaled through their throats by side airbags going off. The best and safest slim jim tow truck drivers use now to my knowledge are the ones like a thick coat hanger that slide between the door and the pillar and pop the door lock switches on armrest or side of door.
