Thanks Mike. Glad your car is now fixed. Hopefully when you get 200,000 miles on it, here’s to your then looking back as this being your only repair the entire time.

I have learned to never buy a first year model. Let them work the bugs out first. Patience has a better reward.

From my 20+ years working for Chevy dealers I learned it was best to wait until the 3rd model year to buy a new GM model, my wife was wanting to replace her Cadillac CTS with a 2020 CT5 told her to just be patient, we got a 2022 3.0TT and it has been perfect, I like the Eray and have my sights on a 2026. I've never understood the first on the block mentality.

I wonder if these problems that are popping up with the E-Ray is the reason why there’s a delay in them being delivered from the factory?

I guess the old saying of..never buy the first yr of a car, kinda sticks here...sad

Great video. To be honest there are not a lot of erays out there so, GM had this problem on test cars and instead of fixing it they just waited to see how many people will have this problem. Imagine in the future when the warranty is out and this happens!!!! GM should do better. They always rush and probably don’t care about the eray. Their focus is on the Zora model and the next gen C9.

They care. The Eray is incredibly complex. Statistically all failure modes can't be covered in the first year based upon time compression to develop and release the vehicle.

Yes, love those wheels...Friends are awesome, great report about a chevrolet dealer doing expert phenomenal maintenance on a super car!!!

My Eray has been back in shop for 3 days. Check engine light. Gas gauge quit working, cold start with stealth mode never worked. 800 miles. They have no clue what’s wrong with it.

Glad your check engine light was repaired. As I said on day one your car was beautiful don't mess it up. Well u couldn't help yourself with those black wheels.

Hey Mike, I like the “interim” wheels on 3.0, and will be interested to see what the future brings for this build. Very nice of Darren to do that. I actually sort of like the ERay wheels, and mine was going to have those in black. As to the electric motor issue…I don’t know, man. Growing pains, I guess. For my personal situation, I am satisfied that I made the right decision in bypassing my ERay build as I anxiously await the C8ZR1. When I started seeing the dropping values of the C8Z06 as supply started ramping up and the delay of the ERay as the C8ZR1 seemed to be getting closer, it just made sense for me and where I am. No regrets here but excited about the ERay content and what more we will learn on the ZR1 in two weeks. Good stuff, Mike!

Informative video Mike especially since mine is being built and any data is GREATLY APPRECIATED. Happy you got your baby back relatively quickly considering the labor intensive repair they had to do. One question my friend what color is your ERay, curious mine will be Sea Wolf Gray, thanks brother for all your work keeping us novices informed.

Glad everything work out and what a stunning surprise the wheels look fantastic and on a side note a lot of GM models are suffering from the dreaded shift to park including new vehicles and vehicles several years old.

Sucks that it was not as easy as just a connector but at least it wasnt some major part that was really backordered. Glad it all got sorted out!

Yea … they just had to root around in the front end for about 4 hours taking everything apart to get access to it. Hopefully the new actuator has some design changes that fixes the problem.

Cool when I watch a video and recognize where you’re driving. 2:50-2:53 was just west of Josey Road on Parker Road. Would love to meet up for lunch some weekend!

The new infotainment system in the 24s has a lot of bugs. My GPS just quit working one day. The WiFi got locked and I couldn’t connect my phone to it. The speed limit sign disappeared and the note said that I needed a plan, which I had. I called Onstar and they helped get it fixed. I just got a new Chevy dually and have had it for less than the three weeks - exact same problem but this time, Onstar could only fix GPS. Now I have to deal with this at the dealer.

Good info as I'm considering purchasing an E Ray. I usually wait until the second or third year comes out before I buy so they can work out the bugs

Thank you for this information. This will prove to be very helpful for any vehicle that has a similar setup. I'm not a fan of black wheels, but that quickly changes my mind. Lol

Intermittent issues are the hardest to nail down.

I know GM gets parts from China so if they are putting them on this car expect problems. I wouldn’t want my new car disassembled already especially by someone who has never seen a E-Ray. One more problem I wouldn’t want the continued headaches but it’s good for your channel.

Then in less than 500 miles the actuator goes out again. 😮

It just goes to show, you probably should not buy first run of such a high tech machine. My 18 Camero SS lost a couple pages on menu after water in trunk issue, but nothing effected the drive of it and after all that’s what it’s truly about. Good luck with that one .

Was probably bad from day 1. Seen a lot of bad parts on new vehicles, all the time from every manufacturer.

Love the wheels! Bummer on the issue being a common occurrence with no diagnosis of the root cause. Logically this will continue to happen until they determine why, which never feels good.

I’m glad I kept my manual C7 Z06 so much car and never been in for anything wrong. What a car.

Maybe the actuator just doesn’t like talking that much . Kinda like me !

I just wonder why that new part failed at only 200 miles? I would think that part was supposed to last 100K miles. That was super nice of Jose! They are similar to my 2 piece Satin Black Wheels I have on my Z06. Although I have the Satin Red Hardware on mine.

I don't plan to keep my E-Ray past warranty period. Hell, I'm not planning to keep my Stingray past warranty....hell of a car but some of the mechanical failures that could happen are way too pricey to pay out of pocket and not want to punch a kitten.

@@lukewalker1051 The failure rate is much, much lower than it is made out to be. We run polls on our Corvette forums and its very low. BUT, you are right, its insanely expensive out of warranty and I would not risk it.

I'm just being honest. The stock wheels pop much more than the black rims. It's like its on winter rims in Canada. Its likely just the video vs in person

If it was a common problem, why didn’t they fix it pre-delivery? That’s what I hate about these manufacturers. They just wait till it fails and they know it’s gonna.

Amen! They lie about the reasons but the fact is they know full well that this car is not ready.

May wait for the GS !

It’s really reassuring when the tech consults with the Corvette Engineers to solve issues. This week my rear view mirror camera went out and within an hour GM verified the issue and ordered the part for me. Nobody wants their car to break, but it’s nice to have that level of support.

I wonder what the Hours of Labor are allotted for on this Warranty Claim . 1 1/2 Days to get this done !? That poor guy is now the Dealership Go To Guy on this issue . The Learning Curve alone , is only for the patient and Brave …. 😂

The new placeholder wheels are SOOOOO much nicer looking than the stock E-Ray wheels. The stock E-Ray wheels are rather boring and lackluster, imo. I love the placeholder wheel's design, but I'm not a fan of the black finish.

No. Chevy engineering likely don't even know the root cause of the failure. Maybe a design fault and not a manufacturing anomaly. As a Chevy Engineer, sometimes its a combination of both. When a design lacks robustness, its a veritable lottery as to when/if a replacement part will fail again. Eventually a design or metallurgy change will be made, part number will be rev'ed and next replacement should be more solid.

You can't do any better than the oem E-Ray wheels, IMO, best Corvette wheel design ever. I personally, would absolutely have to have the full polished version, can't stomach all black wheels on my cars. As to the mechanical issues, chit happens, but Chevy will get it fixed.

If it's a common problem, then it should have shown up during the testing period of the preproduction vehicles.
