Great video. I'll be starting my 10th month of budget planning/cash envelope system in January. I credit you with a big part of my decision to do it. I wouldn't have searched the CES if I hadn't seen you tracking your expenses and saving. 😊 Hope you enjoy time with your family.

I am going into my 4th month of budgeting seriously and using cash envelopes. Love watching people's methods and hearing their thoughts on what they save for and how the figure out how much to put into each category

Same here! I feel like people's budgeting style is often like their homes. As in they can use big broad categories that are hidden (like online banking) or if everything is sorted into loads of little sections that you can see visually (cash budgeting). It's really intresting to me as I use big broad categories for budgeting and standing orders to diffrent bank accounts.

I’m starting these challenges in January, waiting on supplies but I will begin regardless. I love watching these videos for motivation. I honestly spend too much money.

Hi Ilysse. I will be doing altered versions of my envelope videos. My husband didn't like the idea of me showing money on camera and I get that. I'll be talking about my system and periodically updating how it's going but that's it. I have one more week before I know how I did on the $5 savings challenge. I'm pretty sure I didn't save as much as the last 2 years but 2023 is a new year. Those binders are pretty. I made a disc bound album Look forward to using the digitals I bought from you shop. Loved this video! I used the prop money this past year and have been debating on whether or not to use it this year. I think the prop money contributed greatly to my success in starting this journey! I use 2 binders as well. Been trying to decide how to split them and like your idea!

Practicality question: do you bring your whole envelope binder with you everytime you leave the house? Or just the envelope for the specific category? Just trying to figure out how I’d make the envelope system work for me 😊

Only the envelope I need!! If I’m going to the mall, I might bring fun, clothing, and dining out. But if I’m going to the grocery store, I only bring that envelope. I also might not bring the entire thing, just whatever amount I’m comfortable spending from what’s in the envelope

Just got your cash envelope la els and waiting for the binder of envelopes! Wondering how you would add in work bonuses or tax returns. 🤔 Also, we live in a rural location, so a lot of shopping is done online and I prefer grocery pick ups. How do you do that with the cash envelope system? Do you deposit the money from the envelope? I feel like I'm always going to be at the bank lol!

For a work bonus or tax return, I would put that towards a saving goal, retirement, or a sinking fund. If your preference is grocery pickups but you'd still like to do an envelope system, you could use fake cash as a representation of the money spent!

I will usually use my "spend" category for those since I only buy them monthly- But you could use a separate "household" category for that
