Renting is the future. I would say more, renting like in Vienna is the future. A very conservative country whose capital city has a very communist housing policy. Works!

My spouse (40) and I (36) are actually looking at selling our house and going back to renting. Partly, this is because we seem to want to move too often for home ownership to be a good financial idea. But it’s also because we’re finding that we just don’t enjoy all the maintenance and upkeep, and it sucks up a ton of our money - money that could be going to additional retirement savings or travel instead. Also, walk-ability is really important to us, and it’s just way easier to find an apartment in a super walkable neighborhood. Home ownership is great, if it’ll actually bring you joy. But I question the idea that it’s always the better choice, for everyone.

I'm so soo excited for 2023! I think it will be a much better financial year for myself. I am thinking of doing a low buy for 2023. I still have certain categories I have to build a good foundation for (lol mainly my hair, I have super curly hair and am trying to find the products that work for it). It's helpful to see how other people organize their annual budget especially since this is the first year I am thinking of my fiances in more of a present moment/future moments. Hope you feel better soon!!
You r killin it. Ready to work on 2023.
Just came across your channel, love your approach and down to earth / realistic goals!
'Dog Support' definately gave me a chuckle. Lol love how you broke every catagory down and simplified everything.

I’m so glad I found your channel! I love that you take a reasonable approach to budgeting. Never thought about a massage subscription. I usually get 7-10 massages per year. It’s such a good way to treat yourself. Maybe now I need to look into these fun IVs you speak of!
@PersonalFinancewithLeila

Thank you for being here! I love massages so i decided it was time to get one regularly. The subscription costs me $100/month for a 2 hour massage so I think it's a great deal. And yes for the IVs I go to a place called The Drip Bar but I'm not sure if they're nationwide!
A lot of legwork and thought went into prepping for the year. You seem to really have dialed this in! Love it! It's so helpful to see you budget as I try to find a firmer footing with my own budgeting. Merry Christmas!!
I'm just now listening to the ChooseFI episode 417 year end wins 2022 podcast in the background while working on my year-end spreadsheets. I hear my net worth increased from $600 to $25K, blah blah blah, I've got side hustles and two youtube channels, blah blah blah, and I got a Salesforce job this year thanks to the TalentStacker program, blah blah blah. It's still in the background for me. Then Brad reads, I used to be a microbiologist. BAZINGA! it must be Leila. So I rewind back to time @20:03 and listen to the next two minutes all about your 2022 wins. Congratulations. They challenged you to write back at the end of 2023 with your new progress.

I went to FinCon this year and it was amazing! Met so many new personal finance friends. As a new sub of your channel, it's been great watching you hit your financial goals. I'll be adding that as a line item in my budget for next year too. Hope to see you at Fincon 2023. ☺ If it's your first year going to FinCon, you can apply for the scholarship. That's how I was able to go, and it was extremely helpful!

I agree with renting in these times for sure but the problem with continuous renewals is that the apartment owners usually increase rents 5-15% annually. If your raise isn’t moving in that direction at least in real gains compared to the rent it might be smarter to buy a home that will ensure the same mortgage payment. This is especially important for you and your taxes as you use a portion of your living space for your KZread channel, which hopefully you have an LLC or some sort of business licensing. Obviously I don’t know all the details of your finances but you do and have to make best decisions for yourself. Wishing you the best! ❤
I agree with you on the whole renting vs owning debate. It’s getting ridiculous! At the end of the day, Having the funds to provide a roof over your head is not a waste.
Keep pushing Lelia! So excited for you to be debt free this upcoming year! I’m going to save as much as I can for my student loans and make as big of a dent as I can before forbearance ends. The forbearance has been such a blessing to get ahead in paying off my student loans. It has saved me years of payments I otherwise would have had to make.

Congrats on becoming debt free and you should absolutely celebrate turning 30! Any ideas on where you want to go to celebrate? Enjoyed the video and the detailed budget breakdown.
Student loan payoff-when you get close, most times Ed finance will offer a deal. Your credit score will go through the roof when you finally pay it off. Watch out because every credit company under the sun will offer you great deals:. Renting is cost effective in many ways and you don’t have to pay for the repairs and don’t have to deal with taxes which really suck!!
Great plan! How do you not use heat though?

Hehehe hello Tony is a kid and I type and I'm 7
I do give you credit in that you’re just starting your 30’s and your plans are pretty solid. Please get a separate contingency account that is not in the bank. Get some gold and some silver also. Put these things in a safe place. Please, just do it. Don’t tell anyone. Also maybe a couple guns and extra ammo, some non perishable food items-food shortages are coming. Govt is ruining the farms! So anything above what you’ve shown seems good, just keep in mind that anything can happen. Stay on course and you should be solid by your mid 30’s which puts you ahead of your peer group.
You can call Geico & ask them for a low mileage discount because you don’t drive to work…..

I ended up going with a year of Progressive for about what I was paying or a little cheaper by month. If your company has any kind of coupon market or discount thing check through that.
$99 dollars a month??? With out access to coupons cuz cheap government phone won’t let me access some of the good apps for sales and digital coupons. I have no transaportation to get around from store to store, I live on Indian land/reservation, there’s not much here as far as stores, housing is expensive and not very nice and there’s not much choice. Prices are more expensive here than off land in stores like Dollar General and Sav A Lot, all the cheap stores charge about $1 more compared to other towns. You have to pay for garbage pickup which the cheapest place my roommate found charges $50 a month which is ridiculous, he says he usually only has 2 bags a month and is paying $50! That’s crazy. WiFi is expensive and you have to have cable in order for that to work and you have no choice of company. There’s so much crap that makes living hard for poor people. It’s not right.
Very smart! A home can be the worst decision if it doesn’t fit the plan.
