My 2021 Michigan Snowmobile Trip in the Upper Peninsula

My 2021 Michigan Snowmobile Trip in the Upper Peninsula
Video of my recent snowmobile trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In this video I head up to Newberry Michigan with two friends for a pretty good snowmobile adventure. Follow along as I take you through each day of our ride. I took my new 2021 Arctic Cat Riot 8000 snowmobile and was able to log about 600 Michigan miles.

    Awesome sled adventure there. Those new sleds you and your friends have really sound like my dads 1998 Arctic cat 600. Best sounding sled ever and it seems like the new sleds are starting to sound like it and I’m so glad. The loud roaring SCREAMS power. Hoping to a better snow season unlike last year.

    Great video Mike. Pretty cool seeing stuff I've seen quite often. You are right about the snow fall this winter in northern Michigan. The lake effect snows were real sparse, & most system snows were south of us in southern Mich, Ohio & Indiana. When it was snowing down there, the sun might be out up here.

    At 15:34, that is why I love sledding. The scenery, the view and the fun factor. Great video Mike. Our season was not so grand on the east coat (New England) either for snowfall. Season usually starts Dec 15th but all trails closed till mid January, some even later. BTW, I know why you bough the Artic Cat, only brand that has some of the Versatile colors. Look forward to your Wyoming videos....and tractors too of course.

    Grew up in the UP..'50's--'70's. Sure don't seem to get the snow of years ago. We had old 1 longer sleds back in the day!! Remember riding to school, no busses due to storms& snow for country kids!! One day it was -24 when we started out. About 8 miles each way. Left early & played around before proceeding to school!! Good memories.

    I was able to put 1200 miles on my new VR1 Polaris in a month of riding here in PA, didn’t make it to the UP this year, made two trips to New York, looking at the conditions up there decided not go this week, we usually go up by the Kewanee peninsula, We like the elevation change better than the eastern side that’s flat, glad to see you had a great trip, too bad you couldn’t ride over to the island and avoid the ferry

    In northern Ontario there are no trails open around me just some about 50 miles east. It's cold enough here for winter but there is no snow! Just hard packed snow and ice. Just need some snow. However, I dont think this season will be as bad as last winter, my dad and i didn't get on trails until January 29!! That was also my first real trail season because I just turned 12 and just got my snowmobile license. Not a good introduction to trail riding. Praying this year is better

When you are on the Ferry boat on your way to Drummond Island, you walk right past my car and you can see my younger son in the passenger seat. It's the most beautiful place to live, I wouldn't live anywhere else. Edited: You also see my son and my husband walking from the same boat Scott came back on. This must have been the day they took my car over to be repaired at Island Auto. -Kirsten

    Awsome video! At the part where you said you would never ride to mackinaw island I think you should rethink that and look up the ice bridge. Dnr is up there and will let you know if it is safe. There is a 5 dollar fee once you get into mackinaw island for their own personal registration since they typically don’t allow motor vehicles there but well worth it for a different experience.

    88 is fast enough, most of the time you are not going that fast. There were times I was not keeping up and it was getting blocky, but I caught up at the end of the video.😀 I like stopping and waiting at the stop signs, and intersections so the group does not get separated, that is what I do in my four wheeler videos.

    Mike, what type of fuel do sleds run on now mainly? I am not a snowmobiler so have no idea if they are still mainly 2 stroke. They sound like it to me. If you stop and buy gas and they are two stroke, I take it they run of an oil tank that injects it into the gas while operating so you don't have to worry about buying mixed gas etc?

  • @farmhandmike

    @farmhandmike

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes most snowmobiles are two strokes and have oil injection. Ideally you need to run premium gas (91 octane) and I try to run ethanol free. Four stroke snowmobiles are available but they are just heavier and generally more expensive.

  • @404nitro

    @404nitro

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@farmhandmike Thanks for the reply. I imagine 4 strokes are a bit slower too, at least as far as getting moving and up to speed? I used to run 4 stroke dirt bikes and that's how it was compared to the big 500 2 strokes, but given the room to wind them out, they'd leave the 500 2 strokes far behind.
