My 2 problems with golden Casio A159WGE

Ойын-сауық

Casio A159WGE is a golden brother of F91W. And I like F91W a lot. So what is my problem with the golden version of the same watch?

This channel is about watches. I like watches, but I am no expert or collector and everything I say is just my personal opinion. I just simply had an idea of having fun by running a youtube channel about my experience with the watches I buy. So I set the budget of a 1000 euros and started the channel. This is why I flip most of my watches, because I have to stay within my budget while introducing new watches to the channel. And that is why all the watches you see on this channel are the cheap ones as well.

I consider those little scratches as collecting experience for the watch, it also shows you can still be great with imperfections be it humans or a watch, don't mind if it got too philosophical

In my opinion you have to consider putting your A159 into keepers group. It´s made in Japan. It has Japan U mark written. We're talking about a good watch, good design

Are there two different sizes?? The one I received from Amazon has a really small face and looks like a women’s watch on my wrist.

Hi Tomas, im from Malaysia and i've made a comment last time about how i prefered f91w yellow/gold display because it looks more retro to me, you see, i have sold most of my f91w's and only left Transparent Grey strap (F91WS-8DF) and i started to collect A158 & A159 (the 'steel' version of F91W). So far i have in my collection is A158 & A159 silver version. Looking forward to collect gold version A159 and i don't mind if they got scratched because i wore them every weekdays (mind you i work at outside evironment with motorbike and these are my work watch)..so far no scratches. I also have Tissot Couturier Quartz, Seiko Criteria SNZC43K1, Seiko Mini Turtle, 3 G-shocks and a Malaysian brand Swiss Made watch...Masa Horlogerie Laksamana 1957 (i only wear this for special occasion). Those watches except for Masa are my weekend watch also im not afraid if they got beat up too. Watches are meant to be wear. Not to be kept shiny bling sitting inside storage box as their purpose to tell the time and match your outfit of the day. For me, those tiny hairline scuff & scratches tells that you loved your watch so much.😃

Thanks for the review. The gold A159 is a cool looking thin watch. However, when I searched for second hand versions of it worldwide on the biggest auction site I saw that this watch can end up in very poor condition. The gold covering doesn't seem to be very hardy. I'm not sure if it's just this model or if there is some non obvious reason for it. I still like it though. Keep up the interesting reviews.

really liked your video, I droped the like. Could you help me with my problem? I can't decide between the A159WGEA-1EF and the A168WG-9EF. Has the scratch resistance been improved in the newer model? I have relatively thin wrists, so the A159 would be a better choice, but technically the A168 is better, I think. Also, I can't decide between the gold vs. black dial. What do you think?

it is a toy watch, they all scratch very easily. Black looks cool, but it is all down to your taste.

LOL I tend to agree with your wife, I also dislike watches with golden bracelets. They look too flashy and/or too feminine for my taste. Then again, that Casio seems somehow tasteful and elegant, just perfect for a suit. But I still like silver version more. On the other hand, that golden Pagani diver... gah... it looks like a piece of junk. But that's just my opinion, because I generally dislike divers... and diver with a golden bracelet is a blasphemy in my eyes. :) Btw, have you considered wearing a watch on the inner side of the wrist when you're working? You can pull that off with smaller thinner watches, especially Casios. It might get less scratches on the dial. I wear my F-91W like that all the time, because its dial looks too tiny on my 7.7 inch wrist and because it's much easier to check the time when working with hands. Also, it's more convenient to check the time in discrete manners, when in some socially sensitive situation (Joe Biden comes to my mind LOL). Try that, maybe it'll grow on you, too. ;)

on the inside of the wrist like military. I don't like that. It does not look nice that way. And I would scratch it either way the same as I have to get my hands into boxes to pull out bicycles and parts. Yes, that golden Pagani is an acquired taste to say the least :D

  • @damyr

@@TomasWatchReviews Yes, the military style. I've learned that in my service days. Any possibility of reflection within the enemy territory is not advisable. But you're right. Working with bicycles and parts, it would probably still get some scratches. So, the only solution is no delicate watches when working. F-91W will cover that just perfectly. ;)

I am also very picky like you, especially with watches... for example even though mtp 1200 is perfect watch i was close to selling it only because of dirty saphhire on my blue dial version haha :) so i can undestand why little scratches bother you on this golden casio... i am not huge fan of that watch, but maybe everytime you see little scratches remember that you paid almost nothing for that watch and then maybe you will have ease of mind

Here's a good reason... first, it's an icon. It is actually recognisable and tells a story to the every day person. Everyone knows this watch, whether young or old. Second, gold (as a colour) complements darker skin well. It's October in Lithuania so you are probably pale, but come May or June and you will have bronzed skin/a tan where it will look just right and you will not have second thoughts. 👍

1.) i don’t know what your name or age is but you look like a дядя Юра 2.) likely my wife likes this watch 3.) I don’t give a fck what the price of a watch is. I have a Breitling diver, a zeppelin pilot watch, a bobo bird wooden watch and now this beauty. This watch is timeless, pure, very comfortable and the coating (Titanium-Nitride) looks better than cheap real gold coatings. For a thin wrist a perfect one. I love it.

  • @ernestb.2377

It could be you have bigger problem your wife not liking it, then the technical problem of possible scratches. As you said, you would wear the watch only on some occasions. In that way the scratches would be minimal and you could have it for years, BUT, on those occasions your wife could be there too, and then you have a problem. Hmm, tough call. Maybe your wife should accept your taste, I don't know. We are all different...
