Your box was almost EXACTLY like mine. Got the same toppers and all. I got Gandolf though and you got sauron. Very nice!!!!!

The reason The One Ring is stupid expensive, even with guaranteed slots like the bundle, is because it is a current Modern and Legacy staple, which makes it a 4 of in any deck. It allows massive draw power, not to mention the protection from everything on top of if youre running cards that untap artifacts (which you most likely are) AND to ice the cake, you can play a another copy and legend rule itself to the yard to basically fully negate the downside to the card.

Wanted to add that it's also good in Commander. If you have an ability/card that requires an artifact to be sacrificed then you can get get a few good turns of great draw and not much down side since you have a high life total thanks to being a Commander game lol.

Players are a big hindrance to cardboard finance, as they hold the cards to play and slow down the trading back and forth between investors, which in turn slows down the rate at which prices go up. That's why products like FAB are such fabulous investment vehicles as there's simply no players to get in the way of profits. 👌👍📈

Instead of just a 1/1 ring they should of made 1/1 of all the rings with different effects and purpose depending on race. That's 20 potential gold cards that would of kept interest in the set. Also awesome playmat!

Couple good cards and 9 Nazgûl. And still the serialized rings!! Oh, and let’s not forget the combined art cards for collecting.

Those upside down cards are going to be worth a ton as misprints.

One thing as an old school AD&D player, the full art lands in this remind me so much of the maps that came in Greyhawk Adventures and Forgotten Realms.

The japamese ones are thebones with a pull tab btw. Good vid.

One of the channels I watch, mtg north, will list the total price of the cards over $2 for each box they open and I think the boxes are typically in the $180 to $240 range. Every once and a while you'll hit one of the special sol rings, but even then those boxes typically didn't break even

Pretty good pull. In my opinion Nazgûl will maintain price because of commander. It may slide to 8 bucks. Relentless Rats is a 2.00 uncommon, but Nazgûl will probably be printed in this set only, and people will want 9 in a deck.

As a long time LoTR fan its funny hearing someone get the words wrong. I had Rudy pegged for a big Tolkien fan for some reason.

Quick tips: Wizards had 9 different arts on the Nazgul which may be why they are so high and Delighted Halfling is also a 20-30 dollar card.

Minas Tirith burning ... in smoke, what the Rohirrim saw when they arrived. i love the vague hard to see art of it haha.

The price on the bundles with the one ring I believe is up to $110 last I checked. As to why it still has that value closes things I can point to is Risharden port in block constructed being run in 99% of decks and ended up getting banned because it was absurdly great but in this cast it and the bowmaster are in as many decks as they possible can go in. As to the box topper cards the box topper is always normal foil there is a 1% chance for a surge foil one to be in a collectors pack

You said it yourself last week and I believe you. The singles prices are being held up by artificial scarcity until after commander masters clears. I will be remaining patient.

@asterphyll no no no, I refuse to buy this variety of security (outside of specific asset classes of which this isn't) and while I enjoy the product, I would never purchase it to be opened, and I don't really care to watch/listen to anyone else open packs because magic as a game ceased to exist (for me) a long time ago. Moreover, I was tempted to spend $400 to get the experience I wanted; but this video scratched that itch; which should be a clear enough explanation about how much I actually care about any of this.

What the hell is Rudy talking about? Value in these boxes? It's literally impossible to break even unless you pull a serialized card. You can pull all the Nazguls, Rings and Bowmasters you can you still won't come out on top.

There are so many versions of this one ring. Which one would be good to add to the long-term investment portfolio? Anyone thought about this? Since it's the most iconic card in the set. Should hold value the best imo. Not talking about any serialized ring, only the ones that are more easily accessible.

I got basically the same heavy hitting cards in my box... (especially the "box topper" lands... except my real box topper was a foil Paths of the Dead)

WotC made a commitment after releasing Arabian Nights. That they would never borrow from stories written by authors outside the Multiverse. This means deriving work from other publications.

I opened 6 LOTR collector boxes, and at $400 a pop, I came out ahead with 1 box, broke even with another. and lost money on the other 4!

If you're only focused on the money, don't open any packs or boxes. On average, you will likely lose roughly 40%

Oh my god these two packs seemed to have every card I need to complete my set, but I just don’t have the money to drop nearly $100 for two versions of the orcs, let alone some of the $25+ mythics Didn’t you make a video a week ago saying that they have a lot of LOTR product they’re just sitting on and prices will drop? That was honestly such a solid opening. The Paths of the Dead, Gemstone Caverns, the orcish bowmasters, and the Gdilf the White made the opening solid value wise.

I own 20 sealed collector boxes and 6 sealed omegas. I also opened about 3 boxes worth of packs to collect singles. I've never played MtG but I'm collecting these LotR. People like me are the reason the cards and sealed will hold or increase in value. Unfortunately, the players don't want expensive packs and boxes, but I hope future MtG sets will continue to contain serialized, original sketch, and/or autograph cards.

The one ring is expensive because its in a ton of modern decks.
