    For the high rent thing next episode: maybe just drop residential taxes, since you're at ¢2bn already. And soooo glad you found the reasons for unhappiness! I was moments from pointing that feature out! Thank you for the car parks pointer too... probably where some of my traffic issues are starting to creep in from.

    placing parking lots and bus/tram depots off major arterial roads and onto dedicated streets will help. btw love your series! keep it up

    It doesn't help me. The traffic feeds into the dedicated roads which spills over into the roads that join those roads to main arterials. For things to not get affected, I'd need very unrealistically long segments of road to hold all the vehicles trying to access those parking lots. Makes no difference to the simulation 'cause high traffic is still registered as a problem in the city.

    Ahhh the big reveal is here! I didn’t expect traffic to be the problems since the city is so well thought-out and beautifully built. It was great to watch you problem-solve. And the new bridge looks absolutely stunning. Wow!

    Have you checked if there maybe is too many buses or trams for the lines than needed, if so, it will be wise to lower the amount to the more appropriate amount. :)

    I have had traffic issues recently aswell, usually its after i have loaded the game and havent visited the area yet. Usually it is caused by some cars trying to park but if i watch that area for a little while the cars start to move again. The problem disappears for the rest of the session until i load up the game again. I think it is some simulation bug.

    I've had the same issue, but not just after load. My city only has a couple of thousand pop, but traffic is still getting stuck until I focus the camera on it and then it clears itself.

    Same here. If I see it correctly, other vehicle users don't see parked motorcycles. They want to park at the same spot, but that spot is already taken, so they are just staying and blocking the traffic. It is very annoying.

    I've taken the time to observe things and you are right, the same is happening to me. Hmm, if it is a traffic bug, then that would suck 'cause it's causing real problems for my city with service vehicles, public transport vehicles, all getting stuck in it!

    I believe without adequate parking sims will compete for parking in your commercial assets or drive around until they find parking. I've had to use the underground lots in low density areas. Looks odd at first but when their tree assets grow up you can hardly see what they are lol. I force myself to use the larger parking buildings whenever they seem to fit. One of them has a car wash upgrade the Sims seem to enjoy.

  • @SanctumGamer

    Thanks for sharing the tip. Do you not get large traffic backups of cars trying to go into the underground building? That appears to be my problem, just tons of cars waiting to get into the parking lots.

    I love this series! I would draw the district lines in the water as they would also be responsible for water rescue/policing. Although there are no police boats/coast guard/fire boats in game, in real life there would be (especially since there is a marina in the district). I live on a small island (~20 square miles) right next to Seattle and we have 3 police boats and share fire boats with neighboring cities. it also makes it much less tedious to redraw districts when you need to! Cheers!

    You have street parking on your main roads. That’s slowing the traffic down. Also you need some arterials with no zoning so traffic can move through quickly with limited delays.

    have you checked what your subway system is doing? a large city like yours probably isn't able to handle the passenger volume numbers with trams and buses, forcing people into cars and causing gridlock. does the UI give you stats about how full your bus and tram routes are? if all your buses are empty maybe you can reduce the numbers in ciriculation and reduce gridlock too?

  • @SanctumGamer

I hope we can link 4 city maps together in the future and really go crazy on this game. His game play today reminds me of Sim City 4. Add that SC4 charm too and this game will be perfect. 👀

    Transit should ideally be grade separated to allow better traffic flow. Putting trams on those narrow streets was not the best idea probably.

  • @scottsfowler

    @scottsfowler

    Seattle has trams on streets, a main arterial infact, and it is hell especially when it rains--which it does a lot! If cars try to brake they just slide on the tracks doubleing stopping distance. I witnessed this first hand, luckily it wasn't an accident but very well could have been. It also makes traffic really bad as the trams travel way slower than the cars around it

  • @Saurion1

    @Saurion1

    6 ай бұрын

    @@scottsfowler yeah trams are a pretty stupid transit solution honestly. Buses can do the same thing with way less investment and more flexibility, and if you're gonna invest in some light rail do it properly and with grade separation. The fuckcars crowd loves trams because they displace cars from the streets, but they're pretty useless.

    I second this idea. With his current city a good underground metro network would help alleviate traffic. Al’s as new developments grow keep transit front of mind.

  • @SanctumGamer

    @SanctumGamer

    I've noticed a few things with the metro. LOTS of people are using it, then they all come out at one spot and then want to cross the road, which in itself creates another problem. Attempting to fix with some bridges doesn't seem to help either 'cause bridges get so full (I'm guessing) the people stay on the road. This is all from a few experiments I've tried and haven't spent time trying to do it properly, but seeing that just put me off going further with the metro system. Perhaps some time in future, I may revisit it. But thanks for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it.

    I think the city is a bit too small for an international airport. Also, that asset is very awkwardly shaped (a very large square). It looks way better to use the regional one multiple times and pretend it's an international airport. That way it looks much more realistic and you get more terminals (both cargo and passenger). But it would be cool to see an airport build!
