I loved getting to see some of those dolls, they were super interesting 😍

Similar to Barbie, but with a bit of an edge, is Monster High. They're incredibly detailed, they were a phenomenon in their heyday, and the characters' personalities are varied, so whether it's because they are your favorite monster or cryptid, really pretty, or have traits you can relate to, there's a doll or two for everyone. Your can also find them second hand really often, though the reasonably priced ones are usually a bit worse for wear... There's also a reboot out now, and so far the new dolls are really cool too.

These days, Rainbow High dolls blow Barbie out of the water. Good articulation, good fashion, nice details, inset eyes, diversity. And all within a reasonable price-point. I really like Japan's Licca for an International fashion doll. Great video!

Great list, but I would agree that doll collecting stems from what you remember from your childhood or see along your travels...my thoughts as I am years older, would be to add Ginny dolls or Madame Alexander dolls, modern iconic dolls right up there with Barbie I believe. I look forward to your videos, your enthusiasm is so fun to watch, and I love seeing new dolls that are different from what I collect. All the best to you!

Good video and good list. One of the most amusing doll-related stories I have ever heard was an incident involving a Cabbage Patch doll during the period of complete frenzy over them. (1983 or so?) Supposedly a woman had somehow been able to get her hands on one during her lunch hour. She left the doll on her desk and her coworkers "kidnapped" it and left a ransom note. She didn't take it seriously, assuming they would just give the doll back. However, the next day there was a small container of cole slaw on her desk with a note that said something like, "This is her arm. Bring brownies or worse things will happen." I don't remember how the story ended. Probably she was a good sport and brought the brownies, but I thought the whole cole slaw angle was pretty clever.

My favorite doll when I was a kid was a Chatty CathyI don’t still have my Chatty Cathy that I had when I was a kid but I found one on the secondary market that I am in the process of fixing up. It doesn’t talk but I don’t care.

I loved this video! Although you did just remind me of a CPK doll I've had in my baby land cart for AGES (I haven't bought any as an adult; I try to stick to BJD and Gotz/AG but I do also have found myself collecting a few other brands like Himstedt and Rainbow High. I haven't heard of the Lavendapouppe dolls outside of your videos; I'll have to check them out :) Happy Easter!

A soft sculpture Cabbage Patch doll was on my doll bucket list, and I finally got one last year. I also have a small collection of the Mass Market CPK dolls plus the three I had when I was a child. I also love the Disney Animator dolls. I have to buy every one I see at thrift stores.

Great list, very diverse options i do recommend rainbow high by mga as well since they have taken the doll world by storm and with the new spin off series shadow high they offer diverse dolls and fashions that can be mixed and work well with other doll lines and they're affordable

OMG you got that beautiful Scarlett O'Hara doll for only $3.00!!!??? I have been wanting either the porcelain or vinyl Scarlett with that beautiful floral green dress for the longest time. Congratulations!!! Anytime I go to goodwill or salvation army to find dolly deals I leave with allergies and nothing more. 🤣🤣 Those little Korean dolls are just too cute!! Great video Allison! Alison, have you ever heard of Original Doll Babies? If not for them we'd never have had CPK dolls. I have two of them in my family, and I love the funny little faces. I also have a couple of vintage off brand CPK types, a Wee Blinks, and a Sweet Love Kid. Wee Blinks especially looks neat displayed next to the CPK dolls (I've two of those now. A single ponytail pacifier girl with dark hair and eyes, and a dark eyed brown Koosa cat). I got a 30s or 40s composition doll today. She was on sale for ten dollars at the vintage sale we had at the farmers market where I work, and she's a big one, with a wig. Her eyes still work, though her cry doesn't. Please forgive the off topic comment, I'm just really excited.

Interesting list. I agree with all of it for the reasons you have said. I don't totally agree with your reasons on Cabbage Patch, but I do have a token Cabbage Patch doll in my collection. Unfortunately, I agree with your Barbie reasons. I dislike Barbie, a lot. And yet, dispite this, I have 5 in my collection. They are playline and are Barbie's friends. I am not sure where I am going with my collection. I inherited 3 generations of doll (under 20 dolls, though), and they seem to want to be my core of the collection. Newer dolls work with them, but I am still working out where I am going with this collection.

Love love love your top ten vids! 😁... I would add Pullip & Ruby Red Fashion Friends. As far as from other countries, that's pretty much all my dolls 😂... In live in Australia & unless someone can set me straight our doll manufacture & culture here is not huge. Most of my collection is USA. Started vintage, Velvet & Chrissy because Velvet was childhood doll. Absolutely looove Spanish dolls, Paula Reina & Berjuan. I just love dolls 😂 ... It's your fault Allison, I found Paula Reina & the Spanish dolls 😂... ❤️

I love the varity on this list. Gives you a lot of insights into different doll genres (?), especially if you have a more narrow taste, but want to connect with other people in the hobby outside of your comfort zone.
