MXR iso-brick power supply unboxing / demo
Музыка
Here is brief video wherein I unbox and set up the MXR iso-brick pedal power supply. I then record some sound from a guitar amplifier with two different pedal power supplies, and then a third test using the whole rig plugged in to a power conditioner.
I also explain other methods of decreasing noise on your guitar recordings.

The point of isolated power supplies is NOT to decrease the noise of a single pedal but to decrease noise when SEVERAL pedals are plugged in. The comparison needs to be between a daisy chain and an isolated power supply.

@@therockstudio The point of an isolated power supply is to prevent ground loops from forming between pedals. They also prevent the clock noise from digital and time-based effects from presenting itself in other effects that involve significant makeup gain (i.e., overdrives). This is why they are more expensive and quieter than non-isolated power supplies (like the cheaper MXR brick). Mason has a few good videos on the benefits of isolated power supplies on the Vertex Effects channel.

This is an excellent device. I used two of these over the past 4 years, no issues at all.
Thank you. You're video cleared up some questions I had. Mostly about what cables it had included.

Godlyke is already pretty quiet. Nice review
Neat stuff! Keep it up!
That power conditioner makes a huge difference! I use VooDoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ units right now, and they're pretty quiet-- wonder how much more so with a conditioning unit like that? Great video. Subscribed!

S19NAL C14AIN thank you! The voodoo labs products are really good, though they are input voltage specific (not worldwide ready). So when touring abroad you must have a voltage converter. That's my only gripe. Thanks for your comments and support!

therockstudio that's something I never thought of until I saw this one come with multiple options, honestly. Valid concern!
I just use a MXR smartgate to cut the buzz from singles coils and any other pickup noise.

This isn't about pickup hum. This is about line noise. Meaning noise that works its way into your signal after your guitar, through the pedals.
Hi, thanks for your review. Can i get 10 outputs for 9v pedals? 'Cause all my pedals need 9v power.
@therockstudio
Жыл бұрын
Hi! You only have up to eight 9v outputs with this. However, you can add a daisy-chain cable to one of the higher amperage outputs, even though this would defeat the 'iso' purpose of the device. Thanks for watching!

@@therockstudio Thank you for the answer. Maybe I'll remove the distortion pedals and use the amp's distortion.

@@astromuzik48 lots of players will have more than one power supply, so you also have that option. But try a daisy-chain cable first!

What does ISO mean?

Isolated, meaning the outputs are discrete, not all fed off of one single power bus.
"Now $30"! Lol

You can't argue with that sort of value! (the thrift store was in a wealthy area)
Thanks. I did a review on this also. What did you think of the wall wart? Big and clunky. Nice to see you have the same LED config that I do. White left Red Right. Thought I have a messed up Power supply. Thanks Man.

Hey Thanks! Yeah, clunky wall-wart, but it is light and can be tucked underneath a pedalboard, and zip-tied to an extension cord or whatever. Thanks for watching and commenting. I'll check your video.
is this better than 1 spot cs7?

This or the M239?

Depends on the number of pedals for which you require power? $50 price difference, so the price per output is $14.99 for the iso-brick, and $19.99 for the M239. Cheers!

I have 4 pedals at the moment, might add more soon. The MXR M239 is $140 & the M238 is $211 dollars here in India.
