Brett's solo just jumps off the CD and right through your speakers. 1st time I ever heard Brett was at a clinic in the late 80's when he was playing with the Nelson boys. Man! 10 years later I got to see Shawn play! WOW! I ended up at the gig about 3 hours before it was to start and got to hear Shawn play onstage in an empty venue. Only 3 people in the place, Shawn, my friend and myself just listening to Shawn play for 45 minutes. Needless to say a humbling exp. I knew at the time I would...

I picked this album at random during a high school trip to new York city. I was 17, it was my first introduction to this fusion( ?) jazz ambiance. I never felt it was from my time. As a teenager, I had an odd posture by listening to this. Now it sounds very far away, forgotten, hidden in the depth of KZread.

Studied this vamp at Berklee and also at the National Guitar Workshop when they had their sessions. Thanks to Terry Syrek, James Hogan, Chris P, Dave Martone, Chris Those were life changing, and incredibly motivating opportunities. Aside from everything else, this is an incredible example of how much creativity and innovation that a particular guitarist can put into his/her style and how much it can shine though above all the "noise" in the world of creative music!

6:55 Cliffs of dover lick. Brent Garsed sounds very clean on this but I think Gambale's ability to take a phrase through the key change is better. Lane and Garsed don't play as many motifs, just more burning which to me is less interesting. You can definitely tell who was the most seasoned guitarist on this.
