MVL's Zombie Rook Wins The Game - Top 10 of the 2000s - Morozevich vs. Vachier-Lagrave, 2009
Ойын-сауық
In one of the most complicated chess games you will ever see, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave battled Alexander Morozevich in a complex Sicilian. Facing a ferocious attack, Vachier-Lagrave buries his rook on h7. Morozevich can capture the rook at any point, but he doesn't as the rook seems hopelessly entombed. it's only much later in the game that this zombie rook reemerges as a hero for Black.
Notes from MVL! www.mvlchess.com/en/2018/03/22...
Lessons:
* You must know your theory in the Sicilian.
* Sometimes it seems every move wins, but it's rarely the case. Calculate the clean finish!
* Many fortresses can be cracked with a clear plan.

Just discovered this channel man, absolute gold mine! Loving it!
Stunning game and brilliant analysis. Lots of Love😁
idk why your vids don't have more views/likes, bc they're really, really good! great analysis, well-paced, and easy to follow (even for a schmuck like me, who struggles to beat a telephone playing at 1500 elo). bravo!

Ill be brutally honest. Sam doesn't chase viewers like Hikaru or Levy with collabs. Not saying its bad if anything its good just saying the truth. I honestly think his content is on par with levy's.
It's crazy that Moro did not win this game!
where is no 3?
Silly mvl had his most valuable asset hanging for whole game..
How Moro miss so many winning chances?

super sharp game, so they were probably low on time for a while. Also let's not forget how crazy some of those winning moves are.
it is complicated but not even in top 10 best IMO
