HERE'S MY TAKE ON WHAT WENT DOWN!!!! based on what ive seen discussed in the original MV and my knowledge on werewolf games and its many iterations In a quaint little village, a curse has befallen the villagers. One of them has been possessed by the 「Devil」 and has begun purging all the rotten humans in the village, and the game starts with an unfortunate murder of Kobo, a regular 「Villager」. Her death would kickstart a series of events that would be called "The 「Devil」's Game". The humans must find out who is possessed and execute them or else the entire village will be wiped out. Most of them are regular 「Villager」s or at least, seem like them. (1: Kobo, 2: Kronii, 3: Risu, 4: Zeta, 5: Axel). There are a few humans with special roles. For example, Hakka is a 「Knight」, one of the only people who can fight and is equipped with a sword. Traditionally, in werewolf games, the 「Knight」 is a role that can protect other people at night, in some iterations he prevents the death of the victim, therefore preventing any deaths from happening. In other iterations, the 「Knight」 sacrifices his life to protect the victim. The other special roles belong to Calli and Moona, who are the 「Priest」 and 「Undertaker」 respectively. In this universe, the role of the 「Priest」 is rather vague. She is usually the one in the morning announcing who has been killed last night, but she is also seen doing divinations with tarot cards. One possible theory is that Calli's role is one that could possibly reveal another person's role to herself through divination, but that is not 100% certain. The 「Undertaker」's role is quite small, being in charge of burying the dead bodies. It's unknown if Moona has any special abilities besides that. So, onto the events that took place. The day after Kobo is murdered, the survivors hold a meeting to discuss who is possessed by the 「Devil」. Axel is upset over Kobo's death, wanting to find the killer swiftly. Risu is overcome with tears, not believing one of them is capable of doing something so inhumane as to take another life. Zeta is uninterested in the discussion. Kronii wants the killer to turn themselves in. Moona questions the existence of a 「Devil」, claiming it's unscientific. Hakka charmingly reassures everyone that as the 「Knight」, he will protect everyone, and that they have nothing to fear. Night comes. Hakka clashes swords with a myserious figure out for blood. Unfortunately, Hakka's sword flies out of his hands and the figure lands the killing strike. The next morning, Calli solemnly announces that a new killing has happened. Hakka is dead. This time, Kronii is upset when Hakka's body is buried. The discussion phase comes, and Calli calmly declares she will find the 「Devil」 by this evening. Axel says he will avenge the fallen. Zeta cynically says that this is all pointless, and that they're all going to die as she laughs at their hopeless attempts at finding the killer. Risu cries at the arguing, saying that if they want someone to execute, she will turn herself in. Moona reveals a choker that she found on Hakka's body. It belonged to Kronii, who had been quiet the entire discussion. Having no other leads, the survivors choose Kronii to be hanged, and she is executed. That night, Calli does some fortune-telling, and the card of the 「Devil」 reveals itself. Just as Calli realizes that they hanged the wrong person, the 「Devil」 comes up behind her and kills her. The next day, there is no announcement on who has died. Moona finds out why, as the 「Priest」 who usually does it every morning is now dead. Axel and Risu are horrified as they find Zeta's body in the graveyard. She had taken her own life, and beside her cynical smile they find a note, "COME AND SAVE ME ASAP...!!" Hope is falling. There are only three survivors left. Axel and Risu question who made the 「Devil」's game. Will they all really die? When they go to attend the burial for Calli, they're shocked to find Moona, the 「Undertaker」, with a twisted look behind her eyes, as she holds Calli's body close. They confront her, and she says that she's a professional, and that she's only capable of loving dead bodies. Disgusted, the two surmise that someone who is as inhumane as that could only be the 「Devil」. They execute her, and since they're sure Moona was the one behind all this, they pour some wine and celebrate finally killing the 「Devil」. Risu drinks her wine, but falls as she is poisoned to her death. Axel, the last survivor laughs evilly, as he reveals that he was the one possessed by the 「Devil」 this whole time. He had won the game, all the other humans were dead, and so the game comes to a close with Axel perishing, most likely by his own hand. A figure steps out of the shadows, crying that no one was saved again.... and the scene fade to black. Now, some hidden details and my personal theories, starting with Hakka. So a lot of people believe that Hakka revealing himself to be the 「Knight」 caused him to be targetted by the 「Devil」, but because of his ability to protect others, and the fact that his body had Kronii's choker, I believe Axel had meant to kill Kronii that night, but Hakka stepped in and sacrificed himself. Kronii, shocked by Hakka's sacrifice, could not say a word during the whole discussion. Next, when Risu is killed, her character card changed from 「Villager 3」 to 「Madman」. In most werewolf games, a 「Madman」 or similar role's goal is to die and cause chaos. In some iterations, she wants to be executed, which could explain her offering herself up during the second discussion. But personally, I think in this game, the 「Madman」's role is to help the 「Devil」 win. Risu could've been celebrating with Axel not because they think they had lynched the killer, but because she had successfully assisted in exterminating the other humans. I mean think about it, most of the village is dead. Even if you're sure you found the culprit, is it really the time to pop out some champagne and celebrate? Next, Calli. Just as mentioned before, the 「Priest」's role is really vague. Her divination could have been telling her that they had executed Kronii wrongly, or that she had figured out who the culprit is. I'm not entirely sure about this. Zeta's character is interesting, as she is shown to be very apathetic the whole game, but her sui note asking to be saved is a contrast to her 'whatever' attitude. Maybe she was putting up a front? Or was she another person who wanted to be 'saved' by the 「Devil」? Speaking of, yes, Axel does die at the end. It's very likely that Axel does not know he himself is the 「Devil」, and that the possession takes hold of him only at night. With all the other humans gone, the 「Devil」 that possessed him makes sure to kill the last human, aka himself. Then there's the mastermind, or some kind of secret player. Very mysterious person, who wishes for everyone to live... and by how they say "again".... this isn't the first time this killing game has happened to this group of people. This killing game happens again and again to the same eight people. Who knows if the roles swap around, or if they stay completely the same, but one thing's certain is that everyone dies in the end, and the mastermind wants that to stop happening. Finally, the labs under the village. At 2:36, you can see a brief shot of some testing chambers in a science lab under the village. Very out of place for a medieval setting. My guess is that this is where the eight players are stored, whether to be revived after death to play the next game or if they're clones waiting to replace the previous batch, it's unclear. But it's certainly one of the biggest mysteries behind Mr. Schadenfraude.... Anyway, that's all of my theories! Let me know if I missed anything, or if you want to add on to anything I've said. explanation of some roles: 「The Devil」this one can be assigned to any 「Villager」. 「The Madman」 is a villager who wants to die by being attacked by wolves, it delays a night where the Devil cannot kill for one night onwards. Risu's card. Risu wanted to get killed making it obvious for the Devil that she was the Madman. 「Villager」 no special abilities. Possessed by Kobo, Kronii, Zeta, Villager 「Undertaker」is a villager with the ability to check the details of death for a dead body and know if they were [Human] or [Devil]. Moona's card. (She used this to convict Kronii who's choker was missing, leading to suspicion) 「Priest」can give divine revelations and messages on why the Devil killed someone, can also do card reading and check who is The Devil. Calli's card. (She chose not to reveal herself because the Knight died, she also decided to not reveal any information, however she placed a huge target for herself saying "she will find the devil tomorrow evening" this was possibly a Madman play however at that same discussion period Risu made her own "Madman like" statement disproving that theory) 「Knight」can protect someone each knight. Hakka's card. (Hakka revealed himself day 1, being arrogant and not believing the Devil is even real) Other details: - Axel: He is revealed to the devil - Kobo: She is the first victim. - Kronii: Misvoted based on her missing choker that was used on killing the victim Hakka. - Moona: Misvoted based on emotional reasoning. - Zeta: Killed herself and didn't wish to participate in the devil's game.

Ooh! There are some interesting details here. Hakka outing as Knight D1 and immediately dying is so accurate lmao Moona saying "Those bodies I loved were Humans" is a fun tidbit since that is information that an Undertaker will receive, and it's correct! The Devil hasn't died yet, and all the dead people are humans. Risu is a Madman, which is a rare role with some variations, but one of them is that if the Madman is killed by the Devil, the Devil will die the next night, which is why Axel died in the end, and there's no one left in the game.

And risu basically is Jester if it didn't need to die by public vote. Plus killing axel with the "if you kill me you die too" ability is so good too.

Aniki mentioned that the roles were recommended to the singers not just on what role they wanted to do but also based on the final round of weremag last year and it’s really fitting!! Moona revealing that all the people who died were [human], therefore either Axel and Risu were the devil is a reference to how she gave the vital clue in last year’s stream that Kobo was suspicious and could be a weremag. Kobo being Rin and first blood while Axel was Len also makes sense because in the original song it’s theorized that both rin and len were the culprit. It also references how Axel took Kobo down with him in the last round by convincing people to vote for both of them. Axel’s role as possesed by the devil fits really well because at the beginning of the final round of Weremag, it was revealed that roles were swapped around, so he would later be unsure if he was a weremag or a villager. In the original song, it’s theorized that Len may not have been aware that he was possesed by the devil during the day and during discussions, hence why his dialogue is so convincing. He managed to convince and trick everyone!! Risu being the madman also fits super well with how she was the minion last year, and got tricked into helping Axel who she thought was the weremag. But in this case well, he IS. Then for ???, with the odd lab that shows up in the middle of the song, the purple insignia that kinda looks like an M showing up in the bg and at the end, it’s safe to say that was supposed to be our dear alchemist who was the game master of weremag. This one’s not comfirmed but hey, it fits!!

So Axel was the killer all along and just manage to deceive everyone until the very end? Im surprised how he became a criminal mastermind, sasuga aniki.

This reflects a game of Mafia. Here's my take on how the game happened N1: Axel kills Kobo, Hakka doesn't protect or protects himself (standard for a game of Mafia), Calli checks Kobo or Hakka (could have also been Zeta, but we need to save her for N2 to make things make sense, everyone else had some degree of suspicion on them*) D1: Discussion, Moona claims Undertaker, Hakka claims Knight, Calli claims Priest, reveals findings. Nobody counterclaims. Nobody is lynched. N2: Hakka protects Calli, Axel kills Hakka, Calli checks Zeta D2: Axel slips up, saying he'll avenge the Devil, implying he's not a villager. Risu notices this and decides to sac herself to cover things up. However, Moona accuses Kronii, who was acting a bit sus. The confused villagers vote Kronii out instead. N3: With Hakka gone, Axel kills Calli. Calli checks Axel to find that he's the Devil, but is unfortunately killed. Zeta ragequits for some reason (or maybe there was a Lover** role, and Zeta and Calli were lovers) D3: Axel accuses Moona for lynching the wrong person, being careful because he doesn't know that Risu is the Madman. Risu plays along with Axel, though she had no need to since she'd win anyway. Moona is lynched. Devil (and Madman) victory *Calli could not have checked Axel on N1 since he was checked in N3. If either Kronii or Moona were checked, neither of them could have been accused in the first place. (Moona would still get lynched due to Devil Team having majority) If Calli checked Risu, she couldn't even have said anything about sacrificing herself, since that would basically be admitting that she was the Madman, having the opposite effect she wanted, since the other players would go off looking for the actual Devil. **When one lover dies, the other lover also dies. TLDR: rundown of how this would have went as a game of Mafia (or whatever you call it). Go read it Edit: a potential accusation against Moona is that Kobo was the real undertaker, who didn't have an opportunity to claim since she died first, and Moona took her place.

@@M4SKED2001 if we're going by og mv, than it should be kobo because the voice on the original mv was rin's voice in a deeper pitch and distorted and kobo is playing rin's character, a more far fetch and unlikely theory is that its actually magni as he was the game master of the game whom inspired the creation of this mv, he's not credited obviously because yk, but there's no evidence to back this up, the more likely one is for it to be axel

I looove how in hakka's first solo (akuma no geemu wa mada douu) there's a second voice he recorded to be layered, the bits are incredible together and it's such a perfect representation of Hakka and his sound! distilled just like that for quick and easy understanding! Suuuch wonderful voicing from Kronii on "nobidonasai", the "haa?" And " dare na no" also but DAMN talk about a final punch, the pure disdain that someone would kill and then not just give themselves up out of shame like they should!!! (suave and sweet Hakka promising to protect everyone in the exact voice like a stepped on side male character in a harem anime who always tries his best lolol)

I really liked this cover, it really adds atmosphere to this story. I've heard a lot of covers of this song, but this particular cover made me listen to this song all the time. The ending where Axel Syrios sang was especially beautiful. This voice and tone really suits this moment. I started listening to Axel Syrios 4 months ago because of the cover "Kyu kurarin".
