Hwasa is getting a lot of hate from antis (because she’s being herself), she made this song for herself (Maria is her Catholic name) and to other women who are experiencing the same thing. Don’t let others hatred towards you affect you, no matter what they say and do, you’re beautiful.

From what I know Maria is also her name, I’m not sure how that works but yeah, she is essentially singing to herself. At the start Hwasa got a lot of criticism about her body proportion and people would say she was ugly... yeah, i know, people are idiots. This woman is beautiful. I remember I read somewhere that she once said something about not caring about that, that she would decide on her own definition of beauty herself or something like that. The heart part that Catherine was talking about, I think she is partially right. There’s a saying in English, “eat your heart out”, it is said to someone to describe they are being butt hurt about something or just petty or envy the person they are dissing or bullying and that’s why they do that. So I think she is telling all those people, haters that said mean things about her, “haters, eat your heart out, I’m doing great now and your unkind words can’t hurt me”. Ok so, how does that work? She’s got her Korean name, obviously, and her stage name, a baptismal name is of course a name people are given when they get baptized in Christian religions. So is her Korean name her “official” name and her baptismal name turns into kind of her western name or something like that? I’m don’t get it completely and every time I ask about it people just answer “Is HeR bApTiSmAl NaMe~” 😑 like, I know that, I just want to understand what that means, exactly. Sorry if I sound a little intense, I’ve just been so curious about this for a while haha

@@JackiieVRM When people get baptized in the Catholic religion, they are usually given a special name (or they choose one) to belong to them in the church/however you use it (I’m not quite sure as I am Christian but grandparents were Catholic 😅). María is the name she chose/was given after she got baptized. Usually I believe your baptismal name refers to the version of you that is “renewed/cleansed” (I could be wrong, but this is sorta what it means in Christianity, except you don’t get a new name and it’s more of a spiritual thing with you and God). With that being said, Hwasa is her stage name, María is her baptismal name (as we see in the song, she’s talking to María, which is the most vulnerable version of herself), and we have (Ahn) Hyejin, which is her actual Korean born name. María is just her baptismal name, it doesn’t mean it’s her western name (it’s not). I’m pretty sure even in the west she would refer to herself as Hwasa. María is just something personal to her since religion is usually a personally sensitive thing for some people, and like I said it’s representing a vulnerable part of herself. You can kind of see religious elements in the MV as well that go along with this, like her crown of nails (symbolizing the crown of thorns in a way). I hope this kinda helps. Sorry if it didn’t help much 😅
