Even RM said that watching back he could understand why so many people hasted them then!. They came on strong but they had to leave a mark since the KPOP industry was so competitive. The song was not a success but more a declaration of intention. Watching it live recently, it works a lot better. They got noticed thanks to Jimin acrobatics though (the whole dance break really). But they still had a tough time. BigHit wanted to create a hip hop band and back then gangsta rap was big. Their looks reflected that (they did not have total control as evidenced by J-Hope mask). He was supposed to only take it off when singing!. It was a struggling time and they were searching for themselves. As far as I'm concerned they never had surgery, Jimin lost a lot of weight to the point of making himself sick (he talks about it around the time of the Blood Sweat and Tears video so that's why his face has changed so much). The rest especially V and Jungkook grew from boys to men. But really check evolution videos and you'll see apart from strict diets and exercising they didn't do anything else. .

No, Jimin has not had any work done. He just lost a lot of weight and baby fat. The only person who had work done on his nose was RM due to breathing issues. I disagree with your statement “ they are trying to be black”. One can try to emulate the rap/gangsta culture without trying to be black. They originally started as a hip hop group. If you watch the American Hustle life series when they go to LA , you can see they were trying to learn about hip hop. It is a bit cringe but worth a view to see the beginnings of their evolution. They would not be who they are now without this journey.

Baby bts trying to be dangerous is so cute! 🤣 i don't think this is a culture appropriation !! This is hiphop where ever you go, im moroccan and hiphop artists here in my country are the same thing the only difference is the language and the topic. I'm with you, they definitely grown as an artists and i think that their past self is what made them who they are today : every song, every step is a learning process. Maybe if they didnt made this song, their path would be different from what is today, so im thankful for every song and choice they made. You have the right and the choice not to jam to every song this is what make us : us , different people who enjoy different things. For me even, even if i dont jam with a song or a lyric i try to find something to like in their video, maybe a dance break, the idea behind the song, the effort made, i know who they are and i love their passion and the artist in them. I love you reactions, i've seen all of them and my bias is also jungkookieee 💜💜💜💜💜 my bias wrecker is mr world wide handsome jin 💜💜💜

The best part of this reaction is that you are being honest about it! They have hundreds of songs, it's totally normal not to like every one. The MV is cringy I agree but in that time with their budgets BH did what they could. xD

I love this old stuff. It’s very hip hoppy. I think it’s great. They did start out as a hip hop group. That was their niche. They didn’t have any work done. 15 yo Jimin certainly looks different than he does today. Bulletproof is their name. Bang bang “Bangtan”. Bangtan means being resistant to bullets. They are playing on their name.

They debuted as a hiphop band originally. I think back then Korean Hiphop (like everywhere else in the world) was probably very heavily influenced by black American gangsta style rap. There would be certain dress styles and attitudes that simply went with the genre. Just like denim and leather and long hair is common in rock and metal genre. I'm sorry you didn't vibe with it but early Bangtan makes my blood flow faster and I love it. You probably won't enjoy No More Dream either then :(

I really appreciate you as a reactor because you always keep it real and that's why I stick around! Now I want to say something about the Cultural Appropriation, Personally I've lived in 5 countries (Europe/Asia) I had NEVER heard of the term Cultural Appropriation until 2019 with J-hope's Chicken Noodle Soup there was a lot of buzz about his twisted gel hairstyle? Not to excuse anything but there's soooo much ignorance especially in Asia that even now in 2021 people will do CA and not understand why it's wrong(they're not even aware they're doing it). And even when I lived in Europe in "The West" I had no idea what CA was & I'm fluent in English but it still wasn't a subject I'd ever come across before. I actually grew up in a multi-cultural family so it was even more confusing because I grew up in an environment where we shared our culture and traditions. If you dive more into Kpop you will be shocked by the amount of CA that happens! I honestly don't know if it will ever disappear :/

The gun thing has more to do with the name than gang banging. Bulletproof boy-scouts singing we are bulletproof. Bullets come from guns just imaging that fits the name.

(LOLOLOL) This was their ultimate attempt at HIP HOP (probably American style.) At this point they weren't really sure who they were... they were skating between hiphop and idol group and trying to find their own sound. 3 months later JHope, Jimin, V and JK did "Beautiful" which is sooo different. And RM, Suga and Jin did 'School of Tears" earlier that same year... they were all over the place. But a friend of mine, (age 42) the first time I showed her BTS, with all their diversity... picked this song, 'Bulletproof pt 2', as her favorite and she's stickin to it... I love it that Big Hit never interprets any of their work and just lets everyone take what they want from them. Isn't that how art is supposed to work? Peace and Love.

I love the song, not a fan of the video haha. Thankfully they've grown a lot since then. I'm not sure I would agree with the whole trying to be black and I think they seemed more angry than mean. Anyhow, good reaction.

I can understand most of your perspective and def wasn’t my favorite song I ever heard from them either .. but they started off as a hip hop group which since they transitioned to Kpop... the fact that most of their earlier songs are more hip hop isnt a stretch... it’s evidence of a young group trying to build something and not sure how to get their sound down. You have to remember that they were producing their own album writing their own lyrics while training and performing, being on a reality tv show in LA learning about American hip hop lol rm wasn’t a small rapper in Korea before bts.... he was known on his own.. suga same thing... these two were the most involved with production for their debut bc they had the most experience.. so their influence from their own musical journey is definitely obvious in early stuff. I would be very careful saying things like “they were trying to be gang bangers.. almost trying to be black.” That definitely sounds a bit racist to relate black people to gangs and a damaging stereotype for you to put out into the world especially on a BTS video. They have been through enough to have people associating that mentality with them. Every song and even album actually has a concept... they have themes.. so what they’re doing here isn’t any different than what they’re doing in “boy with luv, they’re performing in character for the visuals and bc of the concept. It’s like the school boy stuff... the songs, the dress, the style and their vibe.. are related to the concept. Instead of seeing this as “they’re trying to be black,” and accuse them of cultural appropriation which is a VERY serious statement... maybe change how you think by stereotyping black people as gang bangers. This video, dress, style , vibe and outfits are in a hip hop concept. If they never did anything else like this in the sense that they debut different themes all the time that are using the same kind of formula as this one was... then I have a hard time understanding that this is confusing to you. Like I said tho it’s definitely not my fave but a couple of the other earlier ones like this were actually really cool... and I don’t care if you don’t like a song or video or something.. but you’re using very triggering language , assumptions and accusations that you knowing bts now for at least a year right... you really think they would do something like that and be inconsiderate of other people? RM and Suga were in the underground rap and hip hop scene in Korea... I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say there were probably man of them with similar outfits, vibe and attitude and probably never thought about it like you did bc they’re from there lol all they would learn from would be there in South Korea . So yeh definitely some things you said came off a bit ignorant and/or racist.. kind of towards Koreans and also towards Black people... just something to think about . Lastly if you know what BTS stands for then you know it translates to “Bulletproof Boyscouts,” and they have always described that as being bulletproof from the hate, racism, social injustices they face... the bang bang is representing them responding to the bullets, all the hate, with the message that they’re bulletproof... that’s why they say “bang bang” there bc saying bulletproof is the “bang bang.”
