@aman verma Hindu texts clearly seem to allow the consumption of beef even for practising Hindus: Manusmriti (Chapter 5 / Verse 30) says, “It is not sinful to eat meat of eatable animals, for Brahma has created both the eaters and the eatables.” Maharishi Yagyavalkya says in Shatpatha Brahmana (3/1/2/21) that, “I eat beef because it is very soft and delicious (amsala).” Apastamba Grihyasutra (1/3/10) and Dharmasutra says, “The cow should be slaughtered on the arrival of a guest, on the occasion of ‘shraddha’ of ancestors and on the occasion of a marriage.” Rigveda (10/85/13) declares, “On the occasion of a girl’s marriage oxen and cows are slaughtered.” Rigveda (6/17/1) states that “Indra used to eat the meat of cow, calf, horse and buffalo.” It also mentions that Agni had a weakness for bull and cow meat. Additionally, it is recorded that the Maruts and the Asvins were also offered cows. Vashistha Dharmasutra (11/34) writes, “If a Brahmin refuses to eat the meat offered to him on the occasion of ‘shraddha’ or worship, he goes to hell.” Hinduism’s greatest propagator Swami Vivekananda said thus: “You will be surprised to know that according to ancient Hindu rites and rituals, a man cannot be a good Hindu who does not eat beef”. (The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda, vol.3, p. 536). Adi Shankaracharya’s commentary on Brihadaranyakopanishad 6/4/18 says : ‘Odan’ (rice) mixed with meat is called ‘Mansodan’. On being asked whose meat it should be, he answers ‘Uksha’. ‘Uksha’ is used for an ox, which is capable to produce semen. The book ‘The History and Culture of the Indian People’, published by Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Bombay and edited by renowned historian R.C.Majumdar (Vol.2, page 578) says: “it is said in the Mahabharata that King Rantideva used to kill two thousand other animals in addition to two thousand cows daily in order to give their meat in charity”. Taittiriya Brahmana categorically tells us: `Verily the cow is food' (atho annam via gauh). In the therapeutic section of the Charaka Samhita (pages 86-87) the flesh of the cow is prescribed for pregnant women and as a medicine for various diseases. It is also prescribed for making soup. Susruta and Vagbhata also speak of the therapeutic uses of beef. Cattle were killed for food during the Mauryan period as is evident from the Arthasastra of Kautilya and Asoka’s own list of animals exempt from slaughter, which, significantly, does not include the cow. There are many verses in the Vedas which explain how to sacrifice the cow and which portion of the meat should be eaten by whom. The Ramayana of Valmiki makes frequent references to the killing of animals including the cow for sacrifice and for food. If you read the Vedas, meat eating is not forbidden there either. Refer the following, Rig Veda 1.164, 27; IV.1.6; V 82-8; V11.69. 71; X.87. and 111.1.2.21

@aman verma just because I have shown you from your scriptures that consumption of meat is not against hinduism you are saying copy / paste, if I have sent it would be bleeding obvious that I have read it. I am not against vegetarianism perse. you can be a vegetarian that is your prerogative but to kill and maim people on suspicion of consuming cow meat when their own scriptures proscribe consumption of cow meat which is quite preposterous. No wonder the Ex Cheif Justice of India, Markande Katju called 90% of Indians as Idiots.
