'Mute' Swan Calls Out to Mate in S.F.

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Obviously, mute swans are anything but. This one seems a bit distressed at being separated from its mate. This was at the Palace of Fine Arts in 2009.

How sweet, I never knew mute swans could make any sound other than the odd grunt.

You're very welcome. I'm always happy when I'm not the only one who likes one of my videos. And videos of beautiful animals or nature, all the better.

Dude, swans are masters of communication!!! They are able to speak. Swans use seperate sounds for calling the kids, being angry, being happy, getting food, calling friends, calling the partner , and much more. Swans are able to understand 1-2 syllable words and sounds from humans. Additinoal swans are able to comunicate via thelepatic pictures.

Humans are the most dangerous predator of wildlife on this planet. I have been feeding (by hand) photographing and filming Mute Swans ( and a Whooper Swan who wintered here for two winters) for about 7 years now, when they get to know you they are not in the least bit aggressive, on one occasion I fed the half grown cygnets by hand with the Cob standing right next to them, all he did was grab the bread from my hand!

I Believe You But That's Why Swans Are Aggressive And They Hate Humans Because Of A Sudden Imbroglio Such As Flock Hunting From The Movie Swan Princess. And Those Big Birds Are Supposedly Angry Birds Because They Literally Bias Nature And They Protect Their Nests And Young From Any Kind Of Danger Around Them.

In recent years, swan parents have trusted me with their days-old cygnets while I photographed them from inches away. A good and exciting experience.

crunchshark87 actually They might’ve used the black swan I believe since it’s sound is more like a dilophosaurus so it’s probably the black swan not the Mute swan 🦢

Mute Swans, are blamed for damage to our ecosystem, a danger to humans and to native wildlife. In 2005 Mute Swans were labelled "invasive" in North America, and are now being slaughtered. In Toronto, nests are being destroyed and Mute Swans are separated so they won't nest. I've heard this sound from the female Swan (2012) who's mate was taken away,a cruel act! Swans mate for life. They are a peaceful breed.Government permits allow this horrible act to take place on Mute Swans.

They're blamed for damaging the ecosystem?! Wow... mute swans are illegal to kill here and I saw loads of them (at least 50) around a river and napping on land. There were Cygnets too!

The adult male Mute Swan (Cob) is, in my experience over many years, consistently and justifiably defensive of its partner (Pen) and both adults are fiercely protective of their young (cygnets), as are most wild and many tamed animals. It is also territorial with regard to certain others (including non-family members of its own species) as Nature dictates that it should be, in order to safely raise its young. If a Mute Swan Cob or Pen is aggressive towards you, there will, therefore, be perfectly valid, natural and very wise reasons, created over many hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years. Back off and it will often do the same. If it doesn't, then please heed its clear message and leave it, its family and its home in the peace they need for survival. Mankind has done more than enough already to attempt to control, interfere with, persecute, torture and destroy wildlife. As for claims that they damage the ecosystem, whatever effect thay might or might not be is dictated by Mother Nature imposing her principles of evolution, amongst many wonderful others. It may not be the ecosystem invented or desired by some Humans, but it is, without question, the version we should respect and accept. Some Humans think they should own and control the entire planet - they don't and they shouldn't.

If a person says that the Mute Swan damages the ecosystem, they should go take a look at a species called the Human race!

For those who are defending the Mute Swans against the claims that they are harmful to the native life in the US, humans are, undeniably, threatening many species. But Mute Swans still should not be allowed to frolic the States. They are very aggressive, and will often chase away native waterfowl from any place they see fit to nest in. Their large appetites also entail heavy damage on the native vegetation, which the aforementioned waterfowl need to eat. So yes, humans are a problem, but Mute Swans are still a threat to our ecosystem.
