Mutabaruka Speaks "Stop Trying To Make Jesus Black"

Mutabaruka believes people trying to "blacken Jesus is craziness". He believes changing the color of Jesus will not change the idea of Jesus.
Mutabaruka goes on to speaks about theNew Testament being used as a tool of pacification of African people. Mutabaruka then explains how fear prevents Black people from speaking their truth around White people.

You pick and chose statements from the Bible, however, you can’t do that alone to justify making a point. Since it doesn’t state the lord God, that makes the statement questionable as to who is stating that as it can be pertaining to the many lords and beings that are considered gods that made covenants or pacts with tribes and certain individuals in the Bible. It’s just a title that can be attributed to a human also, so notice it didn’t say lord God. Also, it’s obvious that “God” in the Bible changes since his he changes how he feels about servants, his actions, mood, his temper, his mid etc, so to say he doesn’t change makes no sense. You can read that all throughout the Bible. So just leave the topic alone with your baby misinformed knowledge ok? Before I teach you something and embarrass you.

That means they haven’t found any tombs of any of the ppl in the Bible except the tombs they constantly unearth in Egypt. So I won’t even get into those kind of discussions unless we are pointing out facts and the fallacies in the Bible. I get what you’re saying though about color but unfortunately 90 something percent of ppl aren’t blind so color can’t be overlooked since the beginning of our time. It has significance because it’s not actually “color”, it’s melanin, and it has extreme importance and represents a link to a stolen and lost heritage and history of a ppl to say the least. It’s not crayon on paint. There are scientific reasons for the so called “color” and reasons for those who appear whitish but are actually translucent and pale because they have a melanin recessive gene. Blind ppl couldn’t benefit from certain knowledge nor develop it without being able to see in the physical world also so you can only use that reasoning to a degree as far as judging the content of a person’s character, attitude, energy, mentality, etc. What I don’t like and realize about our ppl is that we seem to love to tear each other down and find fault in and discredit each other. The most important thing is that he tries to uplift the mentality and spiritually of our ppl the best way he knows how. Muta has given us a lot of jewels for our mind and I appreciate that. You should too. Also, that’s what you should be doing as well, instead of trying to down talk this brother. Don’t you think he means well?

Both Selassie and Marcus Garvey believed in the scriptures so if you remove the foundation of your faith you'll be like a tree without roots. Basically Rastafari would be dead. Mutabaruka needs to call his beliefs something else because it's not Rastafari. The scriptures existed in Africa long before Christianity so it's not a "Christian" book. It belongs to the Hebrews. It was written by then and for them. In the book of the Hebrews it says that their Messiah was dark skinned. If you now throw away the foundation of your faith who then should we listen to? Muta? No, it's foolish to listen to just one man. Safety is in the multitude of counsel. That's what we receive from the scriptures. Be careful of one man making himself the only source of "truth." You'll be sure to meet your demise. That's how cults are started.

Princess Penny... No doubt Muta's rhetoric is old and worn out... But there are many "...scriptures...", which is a word that simply means ancient writings considered to be sacred (connected with a god or gods and deserving veneration). The Judeo/Christ bible - comprised of what is referred to as Old and New Testament - is just a compilation of some writings that some believe are sacred... And the "...Christian..." reference to it is simply in relation to the Christ who is somewhat hidden in the Old Testament section, and clearly spoken to in the New Testament section... And although the Old Testament section was written in what was, some 3,000+ years ago, the nations of Judah and Israel (today called the Middle East), no one really knows if these scriptures spread beyond this region before the Roman Empire came into being and people from all regions began to migrate to other geographical areas, including Northern Africa. So to just say that "...The scriptures existed in Africa long before Christianity so it's not a "Christian" book..." is kind of not really the case.

@@aboveandbeyond9844 I'm not concerned with the "many scriptures" linked to other "gods." I mentioned Selassie and Marcus Garvey believing in the "scriptures." When you can tell me the other scriptures they upheld outside of the Hebrew writings and which Original Rastas supported then we an talk on that. The "Hebrew scriptures" are not a Christian book. Christianity came about long after they were written. If you want to say that those who called themselves " Christians" embraced the Hebrew writings then say that. However not because a group of people embrace something it doesn't mean it belongs to them. Lastly, Egypt and Israel are in the land mass of Africa. Go back and read the Gospels and the book of Acts to find out if people knew about the scriptures before the Roman empire. They sure did. That's why the disciples were able to speak in the many languages on the day of Pentecost and "every man" heard the gospel in their language. The Hebrews were scattered since the Assyrian captivity followed by the Babylonian captivity. The books of Daniel was written during the Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah went to Egypt during the Babylonian captivity and wrote some of the book there. Africa was always a place the the Hebrews sought refuge when they were under attack. Go read the book of the Maccabees and the book of Jeremiah. Even Messiah's parents ran to Egypt to escape persecution.

@@princesspenny6466... It's not a matter of being "...concerned concerned with the "many scriptures" linked to other "gods..."... It's a matter of properly understanding what the facts of the matter are... Because when you don't properly understand what the facts of the matter are, you can end up speaking foolishly about the matter. That hopefully made clear... It is a documented fact that Selassie declared with his own words that he was a Christian and held to a traditional Christian belief. Garvey also declared with his own words that he was a Christian, but he held to and preached an Afro-centric view of what scripture, both Old (what you call Hebrew I think) and New Testament says. And the "...Original Rastas..." had to also hold to Christian belief in order to claim that Selassie was Christ Jesus, as the Messiah, returned. And what I've said above can be checked and found to be historically true. Moving forward... You said... "...The "Hebrew scriptures" are not a Christian book." Hebrew scriptures are made up of three distinct groups of books... The Torah... Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy The Navi'im... Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obediah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malichi. The Ketuvim... Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Songs, Ruth, Lamentation, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Nehemiah, Daniel. The speaking within all these books in the Torah, Navi'm, and Ketuvim present Christ Jesus either in a type (typology), or prophecy. Moving forward... You said... "Christianity came about long after they were written." The earliest known Hebrew scripture writings date back to around 1,000 years before Christ... But before the writings it was an oral (spoken) tradition. You said... "If you want to say that those who called themselves "Christians" embraced the Hebrew writings then say that." I don't need to say it because it is an historical fact. But it is also an historical fact that the writers of the New Testament scriptures were Hebrews who knew and held to the Hebrew bible. You said... "However not because a group of people embrace something it doesn't mean it belongs to them." It seems that you don't really understand what scriptures are... Scriptures don't belong to anyone... Scriptures are for all people. And if there is anyone that the scriptures given by God belongs to, it would be the giver, God who scripture belongs to. You said... "Lastly, Egypt and Israel are in the land mass of Africa." Egypt, not including the Sinai area (which is considered to be in the Middle East), is in Africa... Israel is in Western Asia, which is not Africa.

Rasta, by virtue of its history, walks a fine line between the more parochial message of Marcus Garvey and the relatively universal message of Haile Selassie. Both are necessary messages for the black family interested in healing from White supremacy. I find that there is a middle ground between the Pan African emphasis of Garvey and the Universalist emphasis of the Haile Selassie religionists which allows the Black family to create a livity which necessarilly must be pro-black without falling prey to reactionary anti-whiteness. I agree with Muta though that the Rasta movement in its genesis was/is a blak liberation movement. The documented history of the early decades of the movement bear this out.

It was so strong that most Rasta today grow up & realize that these great musical men were wrong & were seaking to find just like all of us. But reggae is so attractive that it gives us all a sense of purpose maybe even a way to eat food but @ the very core of what Rastafari means we all ignore & just invoke that name amongst strangers. It's time to let go of the personalities, and focus on the messages of these persons. Haile Selassie is one of many individuals that had liberating messages but it is because of the Biblical Davidic titles that's why most Rasta focus on the person and the worship of the person and not the message. There's a lot of Rasta who don't even know the teachings of Selassie, they don't read, they just focus on King of Kings, Lord of Lords, etc,. And also Selassie was a Christian and he promotes the teachings of the bible and Jesus, so what do you do with that? Men like Kwame Nkrumah was more Pan-african than Selassie but most Rasta don't even mention him, it's just Selassie because of the whole Solomonic dynasty because it's in the Rasta eyes prestigious. The Creator is in all of us and we need to move the personality out of the way so that the Spirit can rise up inside of us and come to the forefront.

Accept Babylonian technology? “Be careful of dem cellular and pager” Rasta is about truth. Nothing to do with race... but look how he try to inject it while he say accept white Jesus. He sure as hell fooling plenty people in dem comments. You can fool some people sometime, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.

Totally. Christ is God in the flesh. Before, Christ incarnated in the flesh; Christ always existed. As it is written, God must be worship in Spirit an Truth.

Yes.. but you have the Almighty God , Father God , then you have The Son , or Word of God who was there from the beginning. Plus you have to worship him in truth . Most ppl don’t speak the truth or worship in truth. Christ came out of the lineage , Abraham, Issac and Jacob , Jacob who became Israel , who became the 12 tribes . Jesus Christ sprung out of Judah - Hebrews 7:14. And description of Judah is in Jeremiah 14:2 , that they were blk . The appostles preached that if you come with another doctrine , or he didn’t come in the flesh , there is no light in you. So Muta can’t say he wasn’t blk. And he’s not like many Christians would say “ many colours” and he wasn’t white or European.

DWL I guess unuh not familiar with Muta barracuda. Just comic relief he is talking to his imaginary friend. With one breath him a bash the Bible and at the same time a quote H.I.M. Haile Selassie who at his coronation took the title Defender of the Faith. The barefoot dread(not derogatory)is like the wasp and the bee. The wasp decided to stop go school after learning to make honey comb but the bees never stopped learning until they could make the honey comb and the honey.

We who were taken into slavery because of our forefathers DISOBEDIENCE and continued DISOBEDIENCE till this day are the Hebrews children of IS`RA EL. Jamaicans are Benjamin tribe, Judah is among you which is Haiti and black Americans are Judah as well. We are scattered in Trinidad and tobego, barbadoes, peuto Rico, and many more places as what scriptures outline. We as people in Jamaica need to come back to Yahuah, forsake world religion and Sunday worship and pagan holidays Christmas, birthdayz, easter, labor day, Fathers day, Mothers day, heroes day, new years, all things that has nothing to do with scriptures. We must come back to Yahuah and keep his commandments
