I came to live in Switzerland 25 years ago and when I arrived you almost never saw a fat person. In fact being fat was shamed. But in the last 7 years, it has really changed. Here there are only a few fast food chains: MacDonalds, Burger King, some kabob and pizza restaurants, but it is true that since the pandemic it has gotten far worse. I think that it is mainly because entry into restaurants was restricted or people were afraid to go out so it was easier to order in or to go through a drive through and pick up. Sports and fitness was limited and people got used to sitting at home watching Netflix. So now it is not at all uncommon to see fat Swiss people. Still not at the level of Canada or the U.S., but it is growing. This man is spot on and instead of normalising obesity, the health issues that go along with it need to be advertised, just like with smoking: cigarettes cause lung cancer, cigarettes can kill you... I believe they aren't speaking out because there is too much money to be made off of the sick people.

People were never meant to be locked down and kept away from the friends and family, covid did this and it was so wrong. More people are stressed out and depressed since it all started and have changed their daily habits for the worse. Somehow, I think that may have been a plan all along. And you are so right about "making money off of sick people", they don't make much off of the healthy ones. I refuse to join their "club".

Back in the days, people would bring ackee, breadfruit, tamarind, and other healthy delights from back home. My husband is Trini and thats all his family brings over, is boxes of KFC frozen- as of we don't have the same BS here. So many better things I can think to bring home from an island and they prefer fast food. Its madness!

They season the chicken differently, its how they want to be there. I've been to the KFC in Montego Bay, and they have taken their own creative liberties with the recipe, and it is very good. It doesn't taste anything like regular KFC. Also, the KFC in Port of Spain tastes good and different and doesn't taste like the Jamaican chicken. Lol. Also, the KFC in the Bronx at Baychester and Boston Road is run by Caribbean people, and the chicken tastes different, and the line is out the door.

This is absolutely accurate. I was raised in Jamaica in the 70’s, when families ate healthy meals. Back then I saw very few overweight folks. The men were wiry. The women were shapely. Although I no longer live in JA, I visit just about every year. What I’ve noticed for the last 20 years Is deeply disturbing and Is only getting worse. Jamaicans need to significantly reduce their consumption of food from McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and Pizza Hut. They are all using unhealthy beef and chicken from the United States. If there is a desire for fast food, purchase from your local carry-outs. But more important, try learning how to cook your own healthy meals.

Many of the young women are feminist of the worst sort and cannot cook clean or compromise, many will grow old lonely or (settle down) for a man they see as less than because in their head that is better than being alone. very much the way of the USA society. My parents taught me as a teen and young man how to cook, when i have kids they will learn how to cook and clean their homes and take care of themselves if nothing else. Sad part is the parents of these women are the reason why, or social media since it seems most people don't raise their kids in Jamaica, my mother was a basic school teacher, the amount of shitty careless parents is shocking, hook up culture is a cancer.

This is so refreshing to see! I was passed from foster home to foster home. All of which were impoverished. My diet was fast food, soda pop, rice, beans, and meat smothered in salty sauce, only vegetables i saw were onions cooked to mush, the occasional pepper also cooked that way. I became mentally unwell and was given at least 50 different medication combinations, i was 200lbs as a child. I ate and ate junk food. I was abused in these homes as well, sexuallly, psyce and hit. I discovered at age 22 recently i never learned my mind without meds. I was told by everyone id go crazy, but why would it matter? Id lose control of my mind at least once a week. Id throw stuff, cry, fight, punch things till my knuckles bled and abuse my body. I quit the meds, i quit drinking, smoking, alcohol abuse, junk food. I began fitness. Since 6 months i lost 60lbs, from 250 to 189 (today), still going. I have had no outburst, no fight, no sadness, not even anger. After showing my doctor all of this they tried to give me meds. I tell them i have NEVER felt so in control of my mind. Thier response? "Ok i will send the med to this pharmacy" i said i do not consent, no med was supplied and i got a new doctor. Young people, The food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, social media and the government. Whatever they advertise you, you do the OPPOSITE. I buy nothing i see on billboards, none on commercial. Yes, he is correct. Also, here in America the farm animals are given growth hormones to make them grow bigger, which affects us too. Most of the snacks have MSG (monosodium glutamate) which is an excitotoxin. Excitotoxins trick the brain into thinking the food tastes better than it actually does and it makes us want to eat more. If a manufacturer only uses 98% MSG they do not have to list it in the ingredients because the FDA (food and drug administration) allows them to label it as something like "natural flavors". Some studies link excitotoxins to violent behaviors in teenagers. Then there is hydrogenated oils that clog the arteries. These oils are band in many other countries while America continues to allow it here. This is another reason why we have a high rate of heart disease. All of us from around the African Diaspora need to get back to basics and grow our vegetables (if possible) and cook our meals from scratch like we used to.

Here in the US so much of the population has become so lazy and sluggish and as much bad food there is out there, we do have lots of healthy choices. People do not put the effort in choosing, cooking, and eating the right foods. They say it's too expensive? Add up the cost of prepared junk food, pre-made frozen and packaged items that ruin your health. I prepare the food I eat daily and stick to my Mediterranean diet I was raised on. Do enough exercise every two days especially cardio like jump rope and jumping jacks and resistance exercise like planche, burpees, push ups, pull ups, squats lunges and slow long runs and fast short runs, and walking and running backwards. You can eat whatever you want, just get enough sleep consistently, and drink enough water to be hydrated and you can live long healthy lives, many of my great grandparents lived long lives and they worked since childhood and walked damn near everywhere for miles sometimes up to twenty miles. They ate animal fat organs and meat everyday, fatty plant matter like coconuts, avocados, callaloo, also pok choi, caulliflower and lots of nuts and beans.

Alot of these women think that their weight makes them more attractive....especially when it seems like most men like their weight. Fat asses and Tig o bittys most time come from all the overeating. It's just like when young girl had their natural hair out but then you had boys and even men joking about nappy hair...so many girls went and got perms...and then weaves....the men loved it. A lot of young girls grow up thinking they're not pretty enough because of how others judge them. If no one in their family talks to them about self-love....they fall prey to the enhancements......and food helps them build up the weight a lot of men go after. Many girls and women get butt enhancements because truth be told big butts attract men...These woman feel invisible, especially if their man cheats with a woman who is "thick" in all the right places. But most of this gluttony is due to depression and having a constant hunger for something ......but feeding it with food ...instead of finding out what that hunger really means.

Good for you. However plant-only does not work for all types. That is a "holier than thou" thinking that has been trendy for a while. The most important thing is to have NATURAL, plant or animal, and very modest natural sugars like fruit. One can choose if plant only works for you but it DOES NOT WORK FOR ALL. Some of us our systems work better with animal. My system for example will convert plant (which is a carb) to sugar which will stimulate my cravings. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE BLOOD TYPE DIET?? CHECK IT OUT.

@@sueprator9314 Plant based diets do actually work for all body types, look at the Buddhists and Hindus for example. The facts are that people live longer on a plant based diet with less health issues. For example look at nature, name one carnivore that lives long? There's no such thing. It's just that for the first time in history people are accustomed to eating meat almost every meal. Another thing is that it impacts the planet far less than meat. Do blck men provide safe communties for the women to walk? Raise their kids so the women can relax and destress? Farms and organic markets so there are healthy choices? Gyms so the women can workout? Governance so the women can walk safely from point A to point B? Competition with other communties of men through fishing, hospitality, military, economics, etc? How will the women be healthy when the m3n are lazy and non productive?

Thank God my island don’t have these fast food places. When I lived in CA as a teen I worked at McDonalds and wondered how they eat that $h!+. I had a fat African American woman got mad b/c her burger didn’t taste good she wanted to fight me. I was like you shouldn’t even be eating this. I cook everything I eat and only buy non GMO & got my garden. Fat is not where it’s at!

I have not eaten at McDonalds is over 40 years, it is the most disgusting fast food out there, the rest aren't much better. I love to cook my own meals, but do eat out from time to time, but keep it to just a few times a month. And Taco Bell?!?!?!!? I will never understand that one, that is pure garbage. My son and I were Santa Fe, New Mexico many years ago and could not believe that there was a line around the block going into Taco Bell. Santa Fe, NM! They have some of the best Mexican and New Mexican food you can find and these idiots were in line to go to Taco Bell. Mind blowing is all I can say.

He’s right. I see the same in black men. A lot look smoked out and have premature balding. The heavy drinking, smoking and eating fast food is very unattractive to me. ❤

@She X, I agree, but there are waaaay more overweight black women than men. I am a gym rat and most of the time there are waaay more black men that hit the gym than there are black women, it is more like 20 black men to every 1 black women that goes to the gym. Which is sad. I get really surprise when i do see black women in the gym, i always see black men.
