I installed my BBK LTH this past weekend with the help of your video even using the Harbor Freight engine support. All went pretty smooth. I didn't lift the engine up as much and did the passenger side first. Mine's an automatic so there was an extra bolt on the motor mounts holding the transmission cooler lines in place similiar to the engine ground bolt as shown in your video. Once removed the engine mount bolts, I slide the motor mount up over the top stud and removed. The driver's side I did the same with the mount, but after installing the new header, had to lift engine a little more to get the mount to slip over the top stud. I did have to move the steering shaft to the side to get the new header in place but was able to snake the factory manifold out without moving it. Thanks again for your detailed tutorial!

Best non company install vid! Plus you went beyond so I really appreciate it. Yeah I’m replacing some old rusty chrome BBK shorties that were on it with new ceramic shorties since I got a deal and I can’t afford the LT and a retune at the moment. This was very awesome to see the shorties coming off and pretty much revers it all and I’m good. Haha I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t run into lefty loosey, right righty, lefty loosey, righty loosey when I work the crusty header bolts out. I foresee a lot of penetrating oil and patience on that part.

I've had headers in and out of my 2005 three times now. Never thought this was too bad of a job, for me taking out the stock stuff was the worst part of it, the actual header install is cake. I made a special block of wood to go under the front lip of the oil pan and used a jack to support that while the engine mounts were out, works great.

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Thanks for responding. I recall you have the BBK gasket. With the headers and SC you must be pushing 500+ HP. I have a similar setup. Have you had any issues with the gasket leaking? I saw you made it clear about cleaning the area first then tightening the manifold/header from the middle to the ends to ensure a tight fit. But my gasket question is more along the lines of a high performance gasket with that kind of HP versus the stock 300HP 4.6L engine. I went to my local parts store and almost bought a basic gasket then left without it because it didn't say it was high performance. I am about to order this high performance BBK gasket from EBAY. Think this would work? www.ebay.com/itm/BBK-Performance-1403-Premium-Header-Gasket-Set/233192123395?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D28a7369e73724f6986a8a9ba17f1b2cb%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D233192123395%26itm%3D233192123395&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A6b013b0d-5d45-11e9-b2f9-74dbd180e358%7Cparentrq%3A12847d8816a0ab6b23c0091dffef4ea1%7Ciid%3A1

@@HPX584 it went well. It was an all day job for me. Think the only thing I really struggled with was trying to bolt em up to the block my self. Had to buy some flex head ratchet wrenches to get it done. (Recommend the lowest profile you can get) Other than that my bank 1 O2 sensor welded itself to the LT tried swapping it to the other side and did the same thing. I had to re tap the threads causes I gauled em up removing the sensor it was that bad. and ended up replacing the O2 sensors and that seemed to fix the issue.

5 months later i finally have a set of bbk tuned length shorty headers in titanium ceramic. I'd love to do a before and after dyno, but the cost is almost as much as the headers. Is removing the start just for getting the headers in and out? (shorties of course, not long tubes.) I have no ac lines and my battery is in the trunk. it looks like the passenger side will come out the top.

You can try it with the starter in but you’ll more than likely need the clearance. Just make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable since power still goes to the starter even with the car off

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I heated the two lower rear nuts on both sides and the nut came off. the rest i just got a bigger ratchet in there and the little bit more leverage helped crack them. scary shit knowing you are probably going to have to pull the head if you break one. I used my big torque wrench with a bunch of extensions on the rear ones and seat it to 25lb ft and just kept rocking back and forth till it cracked. didn't think 25 ft lbs would snap anything. Thanks for your video and help. tomorrow i reassemble. About 1/2 of the studs came out with the nut. do you normally reuse the ford gaskets cause rockauto has dropped the ball on my oem replacements.
