No one can or should be influencing your decision on a bow. You are shooting it. You are holding it. You are drawing it. Not the guy standing next to you or someone leaving a comment on your video. Buy and shoot what fits, suits, and feels best to you. Period.

Been shooting a Bear from 2006. It's done for, served me and my grandfather before me very well. Shot the V3X 33 and Ventum pro 33 side by side and wound up picking up the V3X. Barely noticed a difference, but there was a difference. If I had another $2000, I'd have bought both, and then taken both out in the woods to really compare them. Both great brands.

I got a Hoyt Torrex this past Fall as my first bow. Absolutely love it, i will say though with upgrading....i feel left in the dark with certain parts, especially Hoyt parts being especially for the Larger tagged flag ship bows. Matthews seems like such a go to in my area and the shop i go to. Love their proprietary parts and set ups, they just look so clean and easy to put together. Maybe my next bow will be a matthews (if it feels right for me). Great comparison video!

My with 350g arrow and 70lbs shoots 330-333 fps faster than rx5 in the same spec absolutely happy 😃 and I even happier cos I didn’t have to spend 1000$or more! I would recommend to anyone this bow .

I got to try both of these bows side by side at the Great American Outdoor Show. Unfortunately the Hoyt RX7 was set up with a significantly longer draw length and weight so it was nearly impossible to compare the draw cycle. The Hoyt was significantly lighter and I agree the draw was stacked in the front end. Hoyt was completely dead of vibration when the show went off. The Mathew's V3X 29" draw was so smooth. The Mathew's was also dead with vibration when the shot went off but was harder to hold on target due to its weight. I would have been set on the Mathews if I had to make a choice (cost aside) on the spot but I want to go to my local shop and really be able to compare them with a better match. I had my heart set on the RX5 from last year and want to confirm that the RX7 is the bow for me (a little biased from previous year).

I am getting back into archery after a 39 year hiatus and have shot both of these bows as well as last years V3 & RX5 models - the technology of these bows are phenominal! My impressions are the following. Hoyt definitely improved the most over their Rx5 in the form of reduction of vibration from last year, not even close from last years model. With that being said, they, Hoyt, came up to the vibration reduction that Mathews has had for years!! The new grip on the Hoyt is hands down so much better than the Mathews grip IMO, not even close. The draw cycle on the Hoyt is smoother for lack of a better term due to the draw being harder up front then smoothing out - you get a little harsh hump on the back end on the V3X. You cannot go wrong with either brand, the major difference in cost is definitely the strongest consideration due to the carbon fiber cost for sure. If cost were equal, I would go with the Hoyt RX7 but even then it would not be a runaway decision due to the Mathews being one of the best or best on the market! The Hoyt IMO is such a great looking bow aesthetically and just is pleasing to the eye. So the caveat between the two manufacturers based on multiple shop owners that carry both brands comes down to customer service and standing behind the bow with parts almost to infinity - we know where I am going here - Mathews, not even close!!! If you are able financially to buy a new bow every year, then it doesn’t matter. But I imagine both brands of these bows don’t break down very easily due to their technology but I can’t speak from experience based on not owning either brand and being out of archery forever. I went with the Mathews V3X 33” because while I loved the Hoyt RX7 for sure, I didn’t feel for the extra money it was worth paying for a little smoother draw cycle! That price difference gets you a top of the line bow sight and then some. Loved both the bows and everyone knows you can’t go wrong with either!!!

Here is another thing about the Mathews. I love how I can now put my site through the riser. With the new quiver Mathews manufacturers it helps bring all the weight in which help stabilize the shot better. One downfall about the Mathews. It is a little heavy. Once you put your front and rear stabilizer on the bow the weight goes up even more. I ended up pulling my rear stabilizer off and downsizing on my front stabilizer to lighten it up. This helps when hunting. Now think about it. With the Mathews you have to buy a dovetail site, their low pro quiver, and whatever else. With that added in the bow will now cost around 1700 bucks. Close to the Hoyt that comes with a stabilizer.

I guess I’m the exception. I went with the V3X. The price difference was a factor for sure. Not a fan of the engage grip- but had a UV grip from my previous bow-best grip out there. The V3X just held a litter better for me and the switch weight option to shoot 60,65,70,75 is great for hunting and 3D. I also liked the sound of the V3X better. The bridge lock is better than the picatinny rail mount. My only complaint is the camo finishes- I won’t get a camo finish in a Matthews bow. They aren’t as good a quality as the Hoyt or even the PSE. So only solid colors in a Mathews for me.

I can tell that you are struggling to pull back the V3X quite a bit and the RX-7 with no problem. In my opinion is go what feels the best for you and what you can afford but if I were you I would just bite the bullet and get the RX-7 because I can tell that you really want one and you have no problems drawing it at that draw weight setting you have set right now. I have the RX-7 coming for myself also and I love it and I was not worried about the money I love the draw cycle in it and I have always shot Hoyt but at the end of the day you are the one shooting it and no one else so it is up to you buddy!!! i shot the vtm the rx 7 and the phase 4 (the v3's 2023 next release) for like 5 hours before i settled on the phase 4. you guys are right the hoyts draw cycles are smoother. But I absolutely loved how the arrow left off the phase 4 everything just clicks really well with the mathews tech the moment you release the arrow. ultimately you cant go wrong with any flagship bow its just a matter of how you feel shooting the particular model in your hands. I chose mathews for my main hunting bow for at least the next few years. in 3 or so ill re examine the industry and if nothings really changed in technology thats ground breaking ill just restring my phase 4 and keep shooting it. The guys at my pro shop said it best. You dont choose your bow usually the bow will choose you.

Everyone who is a Mathews fan read my comment. I went to the local bow shop today, 10-12-22 , to compare my Vertix to the new V3X. I have traded up every two to three years since the switchback. My specs are 26.5 inch draw at 56 lbs. (65 yrs old hunting whitetail with bow for over 50 yrs.) Same arrows 350 gr. same settings. Results: My Vertix- 284 fps. V3X-283 fps. The bow dealer agreed the Vertix was quieter. I felt the Vertix had a smoother draw. It defiantly had less vibration and was much smoother. Overall the Vertix was an all around better shooting faster bow.

glad the shop owner mentioned draw weight, I am no expert, I have only been at this about 3 years but holly hell judging from what I see lots and lots of people are pulling more than they should.... wild form, crazy yanking draws that look like a power lifter, lots of the shaky sky draws, and can only practice for about 20-30 arrows. *thats on flat ground, nice weather, or indoors... imagine the issue is magnified in the stand and cold. Out of these bows Id just get the one the grip felt best, but carbon is appealing to me. Off topic but I am excited about light weight carbon bows BUT for target, you want a heavy bow for target so once set up it would weigh the same as my current target rig but more weight on the ends of the stabilizers where its working for me vs just hanging weight.

I would go with the Hoyt Ventum pro over the Rx7. Its basically same bow, but aluminum riser, it uses the same cams. For you being at 28" draw Hoyt's ventum pro 30 ATA 25-28" draw module would be maxed out and could shoot faster than that Rx7. For me Hoyt's feel is why I shoot Hoyt, the draw cycle is too harsh for my liking on the V3X, and others.

V3X was awesome it was heavier obviously and shot awesome, but it did have barely more hand vibration after the shot, also the draw cycle was more harsh and seemed like a shorter valley but overall really good. One thing to consider is the stock Mathews strings seem to be trash so figure in a little money for a new set. RX7 smoother draw a little lighter and a tiny bit louder. Overall i don’t think you could go wrong with either! P.s. I’m not a brand loyal guy these are just what I experienced. 🤘🏾 nock&roll

I have the Mathews V3X 29” and I love it. But. It is a harsh draw. I shoot at 60 lbs. and when I’m out just practicing it’s hard on my shoulder. I’ve also had shoulder surgery. This was my first Mathews bow and I thought it was just me and my shoulder until I started hearing everyone else say the same thing. Another thing about the Mathews. It is a little heavy. I went with the Mathews because it was affordable to me and they of course make a great bow. If price isn’t an issue and you want something that is smoother to draw and is also lighter. Then go with the Hoyt. Either way they both make a great bow. In my opinion though I didn’t like the look of their carbon bow. I liked the Mathews look. That’s just me and my opinion though.

I was on the horns of this dilemma myself and ultimately went with an rx7 ultra; however my local shop didn’t stock the phase 4 so I would have had to buy it without shooting it, whereas the rx7 I could try. I was looking to upgrade from a torrex xt, shot a VTM33, rx7 and bow tech carbon 1. The only one of those that felt like an upgrade worth paying for was the rx7. But yikes! Pay you must…. Rx7 is not a cheap option. However, it feels worth it to me; I shoot my bow a lot so I decided I’d sell some things I don’t use so much to make up the difference. No regrets so far.

I've never shot a Matthews so I can't really voice an opinion on that. I know Hoyt makes a solid bow and have owned a few. I'm trying to decide between the PSE Levitate and the Hoyt Twin Turbo but can't find any comparison videos/article. People compare the Levitate to the RX-7 but that's not a fair comparison for either product.

IMO the bows are very comparable and at this point besides the bow cost you should factor in each brands accessories and which you prefer. Do you want the Mathews Bridge Lock Sight setup and its low pro quiver? Its difficult to find some of the popular dovetail sights for the Mathews. The Axcel Landslyde is ridiculously hard to find. I have heard some horror stories finding the popular Picatinny sights as well. Pick your poison. I personally think you want the draw feel of a Hoyt and will disappointed with anything else from my POV from watching your previous reviews.

I don't buy a new bow every year, or even every few years. I bought my Hoyt Carbon Element RKT in 2012. I still love it, taken a lot of game with it, and still get a lot of comments at the 3D tournaments. It cost $1200 back in 2012, but it has been a joy for 10 years, so in my situation I would spend the extra money as I feel it amortizes the cost over the years of enjoyment. Also, it looks like it belongs in the timber where the Mathews looks like it belongs patching the latticework under my granddad's old porch.

@@miketyson8933 I would have to disagree, I just went to a shop yesterday and shot the Bowtech sr350, Hoyt ventum pro 33 and 30 and the rx7 along with the Mathews vx3 29. All same 70 pounds . The Mathews had in my opinion the least smooth draw. I could shoot the hoyts all day, the sr 350 was almost as good. The vx3 29 was stiffer up front with another stiff pull towards the back then a dump into a very small valley. The way the draw is on it makes you work harder to get it back and harder to keep it back

Same as me. Come from an VXR but the Rx7 is awesome spezialy the last 2-3 inches of draw in the Valey. On the Mathews there is always a tiny little stacking there but that is ok. Mathews have little more fall in the Valey and there is the thing for me that impresses me ! Let down on the Rx is so nice an easyer and like you said - little softer for the shoulder . But again - Booth are great Products!

Right now it's February 27 2022 so I know my opinion is a little late. However, if another opinion is being looked for here's mine. If money is important then go with the Mathews. They are excellent bows and have an incredible reputation. If money isn't as important and you hunt in very cold weather, still hunt or stalking and you need to keep your bow in your hand for extended periods of time then get the Hoyt as the carbon bow is lighter by a good 1/2 pound and the carbon riser will allow you to keep your hand warmer as you hunt. As noted the bow is also lighter so it will pack easier throughout the day too. If I had the money I would go for the Hoyt. But that's just my opinion. I've been a Hoyt fan for many years so I'm biased.

I’ve owned Mathews v3’s and v3x’s and recently switched to the rx7. Why? 1) Rx7 carbon doesn’t get as cold in the hand on Idaho late season hunts. I’m an idaho resident and we get cold winters! 2) Rx7 holds better with no stabilizers then my Mathews did with back and front stabilizers so ready to hunt weight in the Rx7 is much lighter then Mathews. 3) I can pull more almost 10 lbs more draw weight on the Rx7 giving me faster arrow speeds.

I shot the Mathews V3X 33 and the Hoyt RX-7 Ultra, both set to 70#, 30" draw, 80% let off. For me, it was the Hoyt, hands down. The RX-7 Ultra felt incredibly dead on the shot, the pull was much more linear and smooth, and I much preferred the way the Hoyt held on the back wall. Frankly, I also preferred the look of the RX-7 Ultra riser compared to the Mathews. That said, the real deal-breaker for the Mathews was the ultra-short valley on the back wall. The Hoyt held comfortably, and I almost had to push forward to let down, whereas the Mathews kept trying to jump forward and yank my shoulder. I really disliked that, and struggled with it the entire time I was shooting the bows.
