Despite all of the hurdles you had to jump with the cameras/microphone issues I will have to say that you rocked it all! You reacted and overcame the obstacles flawlessly! I’m so impressed! Way to go! The voice overs may not have been ideal or out of the norm for you but it worked and it was great! ❤️ love you both! ❤️

You're spot on about Cairo. I went the month before their revolution and the tensions were high. We had a private guide and we appreciated it. But there was a constant level of distrust that we had toward the Egyptian people simply because of their intense aggressiveness to buyers, and tourists. I've typically made local friends in every place I've traveled. Cairo was not one. Is it unsafe? Is it safe? Every hotel has metal detectors for a reason. That felt like a billboard to me for us to go nowhere without our guide. I have recommended friends to go when they insist that they want to, but I equip them with wisdom. I never want to go back and I want to travel back to many places I've been to. Jordan and Turkey have a MUCH BETTER vibe to them. Be safe if you go, and listen to Dan and Chelle. I'm not a jerk traveler so please be kind to me if you're going to comment. I've gone 18 hours backwoods in Haiti with no electricity, running water, medical care, etc and it felt 1000×s safer. Much love. Travel, enjoy, stay aware.

As an Egyptian, Living in the US. Every time I went back home (Egypt) I’ve never had a single issue with my camera. If I had to leave it out of a certain area, I left it and I always got it back. But it’s true vendors are a problem. They are pushy, I just tell them to leave me alone and they do. Just don’t Smile at them, because your leaving the door open. But Egypt, is a beautiful experience!

I subscribed to you ages ago and love all your videos, really hope you reach 100k as you deserve it so much. I havent been or plan to go to Egypt but giving an honest review is really helpful to future travellers, especially to make their time there more enjoyable, less troublesome and safer - so lots of praise to you both. I think you did a great job as I only picked up about the drone and the microphone, due to what you said and how you had to do the voice over. There was so much smog, incredible seeing how bad it was. Love the shave Daniel, cant wait for your next adventure guys xx

This video was definitely a good idea for people traveling to Egypt. I haven't been to Egypt but have been to Tunisia a few times and we had similar troubles there with the vendors and not being able to get away from them easily. It was also not particularly safe in some places, or so we were told by our tour company. But otherwise we absolutely loved it there, beautiful place and people. Anyway can't wait to see what you're getting up to next 😍

I found your tutorial on traveling in Egypt very interesting, and super of you to share for those who may be headed there. I wondered how safe you felt there as I felt it is somehow a bit sketchy far as safety as a tourist. Great video as always.....and I see Daniel you got a shave and haircut there!! Looking good!

In Hurghada the guide seemed to know everyone, so we were left in peace to stroll around the Marina, shops, restaurants and mosque. In Cairo, the guide there was in cahoots with just about everyone. Before and after the pyramids he was falling over himself trying to get us to buy souvenirs, get onto camels and have our photographs taken by random people. We ended up paying for a horse and buggy ride we never asked for, then he wanted a tip for himself and the driver at the end, even though we'd already paid. Also, guess who I tipped the most? It was the guy who worked hardest - the one who did my hotel room so nicely every day. I was happy to tip him because he was a nice guy and never once made a nuisance of himself.

Wish I had seen this before going to Egypt in September! It is so true about the vendors....they eventually had me in tears demanding money which I didn't have. We were on a cruise excursion to Cairo and on all 5 buses from Alexandria we had an armed guard on board, and they came on our walking tour, and to the pyramids. I eventually had to ask the armed guard to get the last man to leave me alone. He did, but we were advised to go straight to our bus. Even on our trip to El-Alamein, we were escorted by an armed guard. Been there, never again!!

My daughter and I travelled to Hurgarda in 2014, we had an amazing time. We just relaxed at the pool or beach for the majority of our stay. We travelled out to the Gifton Islands a very nice place to snorkel. What I will say is that you need to have a visa to travel to Hurghada. Staff and luggage guys at the airport were very loud and looked aggressive, this did make me think did we do the right thing coming to an arabic language speaking country without my husband who is Tunisian. For me knowing some Arabic helped. I would go back but to the same hotel we stayed at. Staff there were great. Will you be going to Tunisia? If so you cannot take drones unless you have completed the relevant paperwork. If you go, please visit Dous, Kebili, Tozeur and Nefta. My husband is from Djerba and island off of the mainland. Learn some basic Arabic or shall I say Darja language. I pray you get to 100k subscribers very soon. Love you guys love Veronica from the UK 🇬🇧

I went to Egypt in April 2022, everything you commented on was correct... just say "no thank you" and def no eye contact. I had a local on day one at the pyramids that offered to take my picture, with my camera, and I said sure. He did and I gave him a tip, he did not feel it was enough and followed me for a few minutes as I walked away, telling me he wants more. Yikes! I met up with my group and only then did he back down. I, from that point on did not speak to the vendors, unless I wanted to buy something. That being said it was the most AMAZING freekin trip ! Everyday was more amazing than the day before. It was a lifetime experience that took me months to come down from. My suggestion is GO GO GO!! IT WAS STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL! 99% of the Egyptians I encounter were very pleasant.

@@Ash-so7uh yes, it was a 9 day trip. Cairo, Luxor and Edfu. I booked with Exoticca Tours. I was traveling solo, but was with a group of about 20 people. So never alone or lonely. Exoticca was amazing, all transportation, airfare with Turkish Airways , entrance fees at temples were all taken care of. It also included a 3 night cruise up the Nile river. It was stupidly amazing. I highly recommend them. And while in Luxor if they offer a sunrise not air balloon ride over the valley of the kings, do not hesitate, go go go!

We have been self-driving around Egypt for 3 weeks and have not had a guide. We have rarely tipped, apart from things you would normally tip for, like restaurants. Indeed we have had people refusing tips for things like photocopying in a hotel. We were caught speeding but the police then let us off with no tip of ticket. There are many scans going on and sales people are oppressive but when you turn up in your own car they are quite surprised and it takes them off guard. It has been an incredible experience, sometimes a little scary especially when trying to navigate the crowds at Aswan at night but the police helped us out. What we did is a little excessive and definitely not for everyone but maybe but to get a guide 24/7 is excessive too as you will never fully live the experience for yourself. We have seen people with guides and it is a factory.

It is no excuse but it is a tough time for most Egyptians financially especially when we have to host ten million refugees or 10% of Egyptian populations, from neighboring countries that their country were totally destroyed some some people can get cheap oil

As Egyptian I wish you didn't have to experience that you guys are lovely, but the one with the convince stores BLOW MY MIND!! just get thick skin as you said and never tip them if they don't allow you to grab your stuff just leave the place and they will ask you to come back easily, also another tip for the prices specially for the water the most expensive bottle like the big one 1.5l from a convince store should be 10 pounds at most. Also for the toilet paper we use "Shatafa" that's why at most places you won't find toilet papers :') sorry. Also if you think that the person doesn't deserve a tip just don't leave it to give him the least amount of money as you said a 5 pounds and just leave the place without saying anything as some places will over charge you for what you bought!.

This was funny - many things are as you describe ... and many not quite. But I live here as an European since a number of years and know my way. The one thing though I couldn't help but laugh: *The toilet paper* 🤣🤣. What we "clean" Europeans and Americans don't understand is the fact that everyone in Egypt and other Arab countries *WASHES* after having urinated or defecated and then just needs 2 or 3 squares to dry. They can't understand - and neither can I to be honest coz of my education at home - how one can use the toilet and not wash afterwards. 🙈.

You'll never find a 24th floor window that opens fully here in the United States lol 😆 btw the voice overs were great. Some places over there are weird, my grandad got thrown in jail in Saudi Arabia for taking pics. I think he was taking pics of the red sea...

I think some of your experiences in Egypt can also happen in France…especially tge south of France…..Avignon was loaded with iffy experiences, but still worth visiting.

I tried to tell you!! LOL!! Egypt is an "interesting" place!! I commented when you first got there so you probably hadn't really been out and about much yet. I know a few people who have gone and followed another blogger who went there with his Egyptian fiancé (born and raised in the USA but can tell she is Egyptian) and her aunt for a wedding. They still have a lot of family there. He was not treated well at all and the aunt really had to let them know what was what if you know what I mean to get security and just people in general to leave him alone! He is a tall and stocky man (not overweight) so just seemed to be a target that stuck out. And yes, just like you are saying...they were hounded to buy stuff from the locals to the point of getting real upset and just not wanting to sight see because no was not part of the Egyptian vocabulary. One of my friends took there 9 year old son and needless to say he was a bit freaked out over the whole experience and after 3 days was begging to go home. They just never felt welcome and other kids would like swarm him if he was a 2 feet away from his parents. not knowing what they wanted. I don't know. You gave good tips and probably would make a difference knowing before you go but I think I will pass on this one. Glad you both are safe and for the most part once you learned the lay of the land had a good trip.

Always do your research first before going anywhere. I've heard Kenya doesn't like cameras either, and probably a lot of other countries as well.

We lived in the Middle East for the past 3 years. We only ever traveled with our phones because "media" scares the leadership in the country and they see it as a possible threat to overthrow or expose something. Its just cultural norm. This was also common in Africa and places like India, Sri Lanka and parts of Asia. The tipping everyone part is true as well. We LOVED Egypt, but we have also traveled a ton and lived on 3 different continents, but if someone was new to traveling, Egypt could be a very nerve wracking visit. I would also encourage people to NOT travel in Egypt on a group trip and to hire private guides only. Big groups are often targeted by beggers, etc. over the small one on one guides.
