Oh, BIG INFO HERE: for anyone who gets one, be sure to REGISTER your machine. By registering the machine your 1 year warranty gets extended to 3 years. Considering it's an electric machine, a 3year warranty might come in handy.

@@judipalumbo Instructions on how to register it and a website link are included in the instruction booklet that comes in the box with your machine. Make sure to write down the serial number of your machine (it's on a label on the bottom/underside of the machine) and you will also need the date you purchased it.

I stated that I just got mine from Hobby Lobby as when I ordered it, Scrapbook was out of stock. It is a pretty coral color not pink and not orange. It is called Sherbet and it is very pretty. It came in 2 days free shipping. I have only cut one die with it but loving it already.... Something I wasn't really prepared to spend money on right now but reading Mary's review after reading a bunch else where, I had to get it.... I will cry when my credit card bill comes.... That is ok, I can blame it on Mary! No, j/k! Thanks Mary and I hope others that are on the fence about it, when they can.... get it. Great machine and really pretty quiet, alot quieter that I expected. Thanks again Mary! (and for convincing me to spend more money..lol) 💖

Greetings to you all. I started making cards at the end of May 2023 and this hobby is expensive. I have been researching, comparing prices, reading reviews, etc. I decided to go with the hand crank Sizzex Big Shot and I ❤ it. We have frequent power outages down here and when it happens, I pull out my camping light and keep rocking and rolling. Maybe later, when I hit the mid 70's, I'll go for an electric one. 😂😂

Unrelated but do some research on the following they have helped me so much. Msm, collagen, vitamin c , bromelain. These items have helped with pain. Please do tour homework. The only one that i had to watch was the msm you have to graduate increase it over time. Start with a very small amount take with vitamin c to stop any itching. It acts as a detox so if you get a headache cut back. If you start itching take more vitamin c to stop itching. It does make your hair grow so if your hairy it will make it worse. Im not hairy so it works great for me. So your research there are so many things to help with pain. I can get out of bed now. Hopefully you can find a routine to help yourself live a better quality life.

I have one thing to add about the Switch (I bought the white one in February). It does take all of the other Sizzix plates and platforms, but because of the "catch" function (when finished cutting, it will clamp down on the sandwich so it doesn't fall out) if you're using a smaller platform sandwich it can become stuck. Don't try to pull it out, just start another sandwich so it releases the stuck one (I hope this makes sense). Also, the plates warp just as bad, even with rotating and flipping.

I have had 2 of these machines and have returned both , the plates got constantly stuck and warped so bad after 5 weeks that they would not feed into the machine. The noise was so loud it sounded like a jackhammer, I took the first one back thinking it was a batch problem but the 2 nd one did the same thing. I waited so long to get an automatic machine and Sizzix is such a good brand but this machine was unfortunately a great disappointment for me.

@@kathyhutchinson3058 I have to say I've had my machine since Christmas and am totally happy with it (apart from the warping but I'm hoping the self healing mat from icrafter might resolve that). The noise is minimal and the dies cut well. Embossing folders are a bit more challenging as I have so many different kinds but ince I've categorized them all using calipers it'll be great.

I love my new Switch machine and was able to get it for a great price the day Tim showed his live on his KZread channel. I love it and it's performed great EXCEPT Sizzix has not released a crease pad that works with it yet. I was very frustrated trying to run a TH Bigz L 3-D star die through it and it kept cutting the score lines. I tried all my platforms and all my plates. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper but knew I still have my Big Shot Pro (which doesn't have enough pressure all over for intricate dies) which cuts AND SCORES that die beautifully. Sizzix is coming out with a new crease pad that will fit the Switch but I'm not sure when. Other than the crease pad issue I had nothing but a great experience with this machine. I got a turntable because of where I placed the machine but it really wasn't necessary. It really is a small footprint for such a large platform and I LOVE LOVE that all of my other Sizzix products will work with it. (Sorry, this was so long.) Happy you FINALLY got yours.

I think the Big Shot Plus crease pad should work...they are the same size. I've been told the cutting pads work in the Switch, so I would think the crease pad would work.

@@laurabuehler Sizzix's website specifically says they are making a crease pad for the Switch so I'm not inclined to order another which may or may not solve my problem. I have the extended crease pad which works fine in my Big Shot Pro. The Sizzix website says all the crease pads are 1/8" thick. I'm thinking the new crease pad for the Switch needs to be a bit thinner to avoid cutting instead of creasing but thanks for your input. And yes, all my other Sizzix platforms and various plates work fine in the Switch. The crease pad is the only thing I couldn't get to work properly and I tried EVERY combination of platform and plate that I have. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@marypolancodesigns it's a soft plastic cutting plate to use with the Bigz dies (instead of one cutting plate) that has crease (fold) blades instead of cutting blades so you easily fold the paper for your 3-D dies. It's supposed to stop the fold blades from cutting the paper and instead only score them but the current crease plate is too thick to do the job properly. Hope this makes sense/helps.

There was a white one in my local Spotlight so I snapped it up for a birthday present to myself even though it’s very pricey here in New Zealand. No regrets. The plates do warp so I saved up for spares which I had to import from England. And I am still having to experiment with the sandwich for embossing folders. Thanks for the encouragement to try partial die cutting and to use self healing mats. I would love to try a magnetic plate but am reluctant because of the electrical factor. I will try my bigz dies now though. Thank you Sizzix! Ps I did read somewhere to store the plates halfway through the machine to avert warping so I am trying that.

I am also thinking of getting the Spellbinders hot foil machine to use with it, but am trying to have some self control! Anyway, thanks for your tips! The only die cutting machine I ever used was a 24" wide commercial plotter. We used to make advertising balloons and tents. Before you spend your money, look at the warranty. You will invalidate the warranty if you use "incompatible" products. This term is not defined in the warranty with any examples and could be used to mean any non-Sizzix products (i.e. the wonderful Magic Mat) and could even be extended to Sizzix products not exlusively marketed for the Switch (i.e. standard cut plates or even Plus cut plates) or non-Sizzix dies (like the Spellbinders steel rule dies). The warranty also specifies that the machine can only be used for hobby-entertainment and not for anything commercial. Selling a card made with dies cut on the Switch and even just having a monetized KZread review could be considered breaking the warranty. The warranty is 1 year from original purchase from an authorised dealer with an extended warrenty (terms of which are not on their website) of 2 years if you register the product on their site (and give them marketing data). Once the warranty is ended, Sizzix provides absolutely nothing, even at personal expense, to service their products. I recently broke part of the the handle on my Big Shot Plus that is more then 3 years old (I think 5) and their response was "maybe you should think about getting a new machine" even though the machine works perfectly fine (hopefully the repair we did to the handle will work for a few years). I like that the Switch does the bigger Plus dies ('cause I have a bunch from Tonic Studios) and the thick steel rule (I also have a bunch both from Sizzix and Spellbinders), I just wish they had better options for long-term support and don't contribute to the 'throw-away' economy with their policies. I understand they want to sell the equipment, but I'm sure the machines aren't the bulk of their business anyway (and I suspect they might even be a bit of a loss-leader).

I ordered a white one back in February for $169.00 plus about $18.00 shipping. I expected it to take a few weeks to ship, and that was okay with me, considering the price. There have been some problems with the white ones so...I still don't have mine. The company I ordered from called me last week & said they could ship a black one right away, or I could wait until early May for the white ones to become available. I opted to wait for 2 reasons: 1) the white one comes with some dies and other accessories that aren't included with the black ones. 2) I really don't care if a product has the name of a famous designer on it. The black one is associated with someone famous (no judgements for anyone who buys it; I just don't "need" a fancy name on mine). I may as well get the extras so I opted for the white one. I honestly don't care what color mine is, so it doesn't matter that much. (Although, pink is my least favorite color, so I would only choose that if there were some significant perks when getting that color.) I still have my Big Shot Plus, so I can still craft while I'm waiting for my new machine. I doubt that the company I ordered from will be able to sell them for $160.00 when they come back in stock...so, sorry to anyone who didn't get them when that company offered them.

Hi Mary…Jan 2023 viewer here….love your reviews! I’m now considering getting the Switch. I knew I would get it at some point, but I’m having more joint issues and the cranking on my Big Shot is beginning to cause some discomfort. Sometime after Sizzix brought the Switch out, they changed it to “Switch Plus.” I vaguely recall Tim Holtz commenting on the name change in one of his fab videos, but can’t remember exactly what the diff was? I think it was a fairly minor change, but do you know? Thanks for this great review!

From what I know, there is only one Switch. The other one might be the old Sizzix large platform electronic die cutting machine but the Switch is a new one. I'm sure they both do the same thing but for the Switch you don't have to hold the button, you put it in and it goes automatically. I don't know if the older one did that.
