Here are some of my recommendations : Technical Based 1. The Algorithm Design Manual , by Steven Skiena I agree that CLRS is the bible for Algorithms but it isn't beginner friendly and even for slightly advanced readers the math involved is a little tricky. Algorithm Design Manual on the other hand is a lot more simpler for beginners to begin with and are great to easily grasp the concepts of any algorithm first before going into details. Can be used along with or as alternative to CLRS. PS : The war stories are great too. 2. Elements of Programming Interviews by Adnan Aziz and Amit Prakash This is a direct alternative to Cracking The Coding Interview. Both these books (EPI and CTCi) are really good but EPI is clearly better preparation in terms of technical depth, breadth of exposure to the kinds of questions in the full-day interviews, and succinctness of coding solutions. Another alternative could be Programming Interviews Exposed by John Mongan or Algorithms for Interviews by Adnan Aziz (both are beginner friendly with less number of problems). Non - Technical Based 1. Think and Grow Rich, by Napolean Hill This is an all time classic. It is personal development book that aims to answer the question what makes successful people the way they are. This book also contains some of the secret mantras to improve yourself. Read it to understand it.
