Dodge Offroad got it right when building their steering brace. Had mine for a year now, and am more than happy. $50 more than others, but the quality is on point, and the frame rail mounting was genius.

RedHead reman boxes! USA company. No over center steering movement, light feel. i did not big shaft upgrade due to brace and pitman arm already installed. very impressed!...one note...any box with very little or no overcenter you will feel more road input, tire imperfections issues. like you said. you have to "drive" it more.

Mechanical fan clutch is the answer to make it reliable. Uses a Ford V10 part, and a Cummins OEM hub adapter. Then bolt up your plastic fan blades. Done.

I have that same box on my 08. It was a warranty replacement from the factory. I went in complaint about a box leak. They warranty the box. It took 9 months to get the box don’t know why. It was definitely worth the wait. Just FYI though the dealer told me that they were lucky not having to change out all my steering components because the later 08 truck already came with the heavier duty change over components. This is just to let everyone know not to just go out and buy this box and thinking it will just fit your truck do your homework first. This is what the mechanic who worked on my truck explained to me. My A/C pump took a shit 6 months ago. When I bought the new compressor there was a warning slip inside that required changing of the fan clutch. In speaking to another shop that works on dodges regularly, I was informed that the fan clutch get lazy and don’t come on soon enough and causing high head pressure and blowing the relief valve on the compressor. I know this is the opposite of your problem but just thought people should know what else is happening with that clutch. The new clutch I noticed comes on as soon as you turn the AC on and pulls air like a MOFO to keep head pressure Down. Just my 2cent worth.

Check out the intermediate shaft bushing. Put your head on the brake pedal and look up. There's an intermediate shaft coupler that has rubber in the middle and 2 pins. The rubber can get soft over time. Geno's sells some small aluminum bushings that can be hammered in around the pins to prevent any slop created by the rubber. Bigger meats (tires) amplifies play here. I'm certain guys chase loose steering and this one, though it doesn't create 2" of play, can correct that last 1/2" of play. (btw, I'd say if you are constantly correcting and the truck annoyingly over corrects... this is the issue. That rubber causes a "delay" as you add more and more tension. When it finally has enough twisting pressure, your tires turn and this continues to "give a little more" twist, thereby over correcting).

Have you ever replaced the rubber bushing in the steering column though? It's a huge factor in steering wheel play and should be done before or at the same time if going through with the efforts of replacing the steering box. This is always something that fully needs to be worked from the top down, not bottom up.

Before I go get an alignment, I want to change my ball joints, I know I need a new track bar because it’s still the original and I need new sway struts and bushings. I was hopin that someone could give me the upgraded part numbers for the steering components besides the box. I don’t have the money for the box. If anyone Cana enlighten me on the upgraded part numbers do I can get a price check in my area, it would be much Appreciated. Thank you

Is that little puff of blue smoke on startup normal? I have an '08 6.7 with a 5" turbo-back and I assumed my turbo seals were leaking or something...

I thought it's mainly lil bit of raw fuel from cranking before it lights off
