Must Have Hair Products For Long Hair - Mens Long Hair Q&A

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey guys, it’s Q&A time!
I got you guys to submit a heap of hair questions via reddit, facebook, Instagram and KZread and here’s what came back.
I hope you enjoy!
P.S for anyone looking to join our Facebook community, click here: manbunsandmanes.com/
Q1 - Emiliano Vincitore - MBM Facebook Group
How good does it feel or how does it feel to be able to be part of a long haired men community?🦁🦁🦁
A1:
- F-ing amazing! It’s so inspiring and it’s a really good way to stay motivated during your hair growth journey.
Q2 - Travis Boccia - MBM Facebook Group
What are some products you absolutely cannot go without when it comes to your hair care routine, and what do you think everyone else should not skip as well for optimum hair health?
A2:
Leave in conditioner and hair oil, + a Deep conditioning mask. Look how freaking shiny my hair was and that’s without a keratin treatment.
Q3 - Scott Smith - MBM Facebook Group
Currently the only way I can get my curly hair back in shape in the morning is by wetting it. Is there some other way to make it look good without wetting it?
A3:
The only way you’re going to be able to do this (in my opinion is with a curling wand and you certainly won’t get the same natural curl shape you are going for. Wetting it’s the way to go. If wetting it and waiting for it to dry get a blow dryer with a diffuser head.
Q4 - Cody Enslow - MBM Facebook Group
Idk how to put this, but the best way I can think is... How could we normalize “girly hairstyles”? I’m a straight guy, but can pull off pretty odd styles, but since they’re for girls I can only do it as a joke. (I know one general answer is just to be secure with yourself, but it’s easier said than done)
A4:
Persistence. It’s the only way.
Q5 - @its_virajs - Instagram
How to stop hair fall?
A5:
You can't. It’s just not possible. Hair by nature is designed to fall out at certain stages. Everyone loses different amounts of hair. If you start noticing more and more that’s when I’d recommend you go and see someone about it.
Q6 - u/despacidont - MBM Subreddit
So I work out 5 times a week and get all sweaty. Is it ok to just rinse your hair or do I try to use dry shampoo to combat the sweat?
A6:
I’m exactly the same, I work out and get sweaty 5 to 6 times a week. It’s beneficial I don’t like putting dry shampoo in beforehand because it makes my hair feel super dry and yuck. I only use it when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to rinse my hair after the gym. I did a demo of exactly what I like to do a few weeks back and you can click.
Q7 - Darcy Mcfarlane
Is it ok to not condition every time you wash?
A7:
It is but I wouldn’t because when you wash your hair, you’ve just opened all the cuticles to get all the dirt out and the conditioner is designed to hydrate and close the cuticle back up. If you don’t condition you’ll find your hair feeling WAY rougher & way boofier compared to when you do your conditioner.
Q8 - @nemo.thenobody - Instagram
Is it normal to lose more hairs when you’re growing em?
A8:
It looks and feels like it but no. I’m guessing the reason you’ve asked this is because you’ve noticed more as your hair is getting longer. The truth is it’s just more noticeable because there is more hair lol. People with short hair also shed like German shepherds; it's just way less noticeable.
Q9 - Kyle Gammons
Which do you prefer: ponytails or man buns and why? Please list some examples of some situations which you might pick one over the other.
A9:
Man Bun For Sure. Quicker & easier
I’d wear a ponytail when I want my hair to look neater. I’m not really a fan of wearing my hair as is without doing some form of styling to it.
Thanks for tuning in this week guys and I’ll see you next week for another video!
Yours in good hair,
Thomas

8:03 my favourite question! I think one of the first steps to start normalising "girly hairstyles" is to stop separating (and naming) everything by gender, a hairstyle is a hairstyle and a bun is a bun. Love the video!

I'm not gonna lie, Thomas. I put my hair up tight in a bun every night because I DESPISE sleeping with it down. I constantly lie on it, pull it, it gets in my mouth and everything. There's no places for my to put my hair except up. I hate it because my hair is so close to looking like yours, but with a million times more frizz.

I really loved the question about the girly hairstyles because it's just such an important topic. I'm straight and currently growing my hair out and I just don't see why having long hair should make me any less masculine or really anything other than exactly if not more who I am at the core. I really appreciated hearing your perspective and wholeheartedly agree with what you said.

Thank for answering my question Thomas! I definitely agree with you and can see how it just needs time combined with someone to pioneer it, might as well do it ourselves. Also I didn't mean that being straight or gay had anything to do with whether you can do it now. I just meant that I don't want the preconceived ideas about it to distract from the fact that we look good with it. I want the focus to be on how cool it is without bias. ex: your space buns are epic lol. Great video, thanks again!

There are curl creams that can moisturize hair but even those will flatten from sleep, instead of getting the hair all wet, just wet your hands and instead of drying them, put them directly into your hair, do thise a vew times while scrunching the hair upwardtowards the roots to lift and give volume, so the hair is slightly damp and not wet...

So I’m at kind of an intermediate stage with my hair. It’s currently just approaching shoulder length. When I put it in a ponytail the length of the pony tail is around 3-4 inches. Would this length be a good point for me to start tying it up when I sleep? I can do a sort of tiny bun thing (I’m bad with terminology I’m new to this). Basically I flip my hair in front and pull it up to the top of my head like a pony tail except on the last turn of my hair tie I fold the hair over itself. It’s still pretty tight though at the length I’m at so I’m not sure it would be very comfortable to sleep in and I do toss and turn quite a bit. Is there anything I should do at this stage?

Really interesting the problems men specifically have with long hair that as a long haired woman I never thought about. I've had long hair all my life so sleeping with it is second nature, I just adjust it in my sleep to keep it out of the way, but if you grow your hair out in adulthood, sleeping with it must be a massive pain! I agree with laying it over the pillow above your head. I don't braid because the friction pulls it out and frizzes it up, making the braid painful to remove in the morning. But that depends on hair type, I guess.

Thomas is it possible to lose more than 150 hair strands on shampoo and conditioner day, if other days you might only lose less than 30-40? Is it some kind of balancing things out or something or that's irrelevant?

  • @PartanBree

    @PartanBree

    2 жыл бұрын

Yes, it's not that more hair is actually shedding, it's that the shed hair is caught up in the rest of the hair, and the shampoo and conditioner loosen it so that it comes out. It's not like short hair, where the shed hair just drops out steadily. I produce a proper drain-clogging hairball every time I wash my hair (every 3-4 days), and I'm a 40-something woman so I'm not losing hair at any kind of fast rate. It's just normal.
