Indonesian here and yes the reason why some of everything is "restricted" is because we have ONE special region that practices shariah law. But thats only in one area amongst thousands more, so in most places in Indonesia, those are allowed. LGBTQ+ is not illegalized, and atheism is allowed. You have to enter a religion in your official document but you can practice atheism however you want.

@@fareltlog there isnt a law prohibiting atheism. you have to register one of the 6 religions in your ktp but you can practice any religion freely. Indonesia has a lot of traditional religions from tribal practices and if the prohibition of any belief other than those 6 main religions is disregarded, diversity is disregarded, culture is disregarded. atheism is a belief aswell.

In Malaysia the rules for polygamy are different in different states. Some states allowed it with a condition that the husband need approval from existing wife and it can be a ground if the wife want to seek a divorce.

As Indonesian, I can confirm in law view polygamy is restricted, BUT still some of people still doing it. So the people who doing polygamy in Indonesia, yes they only have 1 wife in law view, but in religion view they can have more than that (max 4). In short, the first wife can report their husband, if the husband commits polygamy without the first wife's permission. But again polygamy is rare here.

Misconceptions from the get-go...salfism does not equal "wahabism" in fact, there is no group that exists today or have ever existed that calls itself "wahabis". So where does the word come from you might ask? It's derived from the name of an 18th century sunni and salfi imam that was active in Arabia preaching for the adherence to Islam as it was practiced by the prophet and his companions (I.e sunni and salafi Islam) he never claimed to have new knowledge or new teachings, nor did he start a new sect. Nowadays, anyone who calls for the adherence to Islam as it was practiced in the time of the prophet and his companions is nicknamed "wahabi" by those sects who innovate in the religion of Islam.

@@melomelo2587 No, Absolutely not. But Mustafa Kemal had Kufr beliefs whic tool him outside of the folds of Islam and ruled him as a Non-Muslim, and he also died as a Non-Muslim.Meaning that his refuge is Hell(Jahanamm).

Incorrect information. In Islamic countries, as long as atheists do not attack religion, there is no such thing as punishment. There is no compulsion in belief in Islam. "Your religion is for you, my religion is for me". The main thing is peace.

I'm a muslim Indonesian and about a couple years ago I don't find myself belong to any religion anymore. But as the Indonesia only recognise 6 official religions, thus I need one of them to be shown on my identity card yet practically I don't follow any of them
