Thanks for the input! We’re still trying to figure out the best way to film these as we feel it doesn’t add anything to the experience if you are just watching us watching a music video. We appreciate the feedback and will definitely take it into consideration in the future!

That’s one of the things we considered for sure. That adds a lot to the editing aspect of things (we all have full time jobs) so we were trying to find a way to reduce editing time as well. We’ve gotten a lot of feedback similar to yours as well so we may try that in future recording sessions for these episodes

I'm not sure how much of their video was trickery, but modern video editing software would let you do all those effects with just one drumset & one amp stack. Set tripod up, record individual takes with drum in each position, then editing lets you stack all those takes together. Overlaps are okay if you spend more time on those details. Of course the more drum sets you have available during filming will reduce the editing required.

This makes sense! I’m sure that technology might’ve existed 20 years ago when this came out but it feels like it would’ve been a lot more difficult and time consuming. Then again, paying for all those drums and amps wouldn’t be cheap either

Limited? It was all purposeful. Jack White created that band with the idea of minimalism. And the restraint that comes with that minimalism. Each one of his bands are vastly different. This is the most stripped back version of himself, mixed with a lot of blues. I remember watching an interview he did well after the band stopped making music. And he said he liked the challenge of having rigid rules in the music, and seeing what he finds in those rigid lines. To their color scheme, way they dressed and how they played their music was all based around minimalism. Her drumming was perfect for that. Which is why he chose to create a band with her, and they blew up commercially. I really love their sound. It's so unique. There is NO other band that sounds similar. I can suppose it isn't going to be for everyone. Especially if you hold a certain expectation as to what it could sound like. Because everything done with that band is extremely purposeful. If you want different versions of Jack then there are the Raconteurs, or the Dead Weather. Both equally great in vastly different ways. He also has a lot of great solo work.

We weren’t generally familiar with the degree of meticulousness with which Jack White created The White Stripes and all of that seems true. Generally, we really like the White Stripes sound but I think it’s a fair critique that (because of those constraints Jack White gave himself and herself) some of the music ends up blending together and becoming a little repetitive. Not to mention Meg isn’t the most technically proficient drummers, naturally creating a limit on what they can do. It’s perfect for The White Stripes though. There’s a reason Seven Nation Army is a sports anthem. It has unmatched energy. And I’ve thoroughly enjoyed/been empressed with Jack White’s side projects and solo ventures. I’ve always had the utmost respect for him as a musician.

Thank you for the feedback! We’re trying to perfect the way we do these and it’s hard to find the right balance between commentary and the song while keeping editing at a minimum and then also avoiding copyright issues and other things like that. We appreciate the feedback and will definitely keep it in consideration for future recordings!
