She sounds like Melody Cristea. However she is influenced by Dio, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, etc. Some people compare her vocals to Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, Lzzy Hale, Doro, Maria Brink, etc. However...Melody Cristea can do things they can't.

Great reaction to my favorite band; I enjoy the insights you bring. Here are a few suggestions for what to check out next: 1) Carousel: Their latest and my new favorite. Really showcases what this independent band can do both musically and in their videos. 2) Not Afraid: Melody’s vocals are off the charts on this one and the video showcases the incredible energy of the Moonlight tour last year. 3) Sail Away: Something totally different, a power ballad. Up there with November Rain for me. 4) Seven Nation Army (cover): Holy Diver showed you how they deliver awesome tributes to my favorite bands. This one shows you how they can make a cover their own while still honoring the original. You can’t go wrong with anything they do, but if I had to pick a. next song, it’d be one of these. 🤘🦇🤘

Abigail is always a joy to watch, she's so happy and bubbly rocking out at the drums and lighting up the whole room. I recommend their song Nothing and the official video of Sail Away, those are two of my favourites of their cover of Rainbow in The Dark is what really drew my attention to them.

Great Reaction. Very insightful, really enjoyed it. I find myself trying to describe Melody's voice, but in the end, besides the many layers to her unique voice, is the emotion she conveys in any song. Perhaps mesmerizing is a good qualifier. Sam, of course and rest of the band are so tight and fit so well together. Shows you how hard work pays off! Cudos to all. Loved this!!

Hello my new young friends. Lol You have just watched a 17 year old MeloDia. I think it's fascinating that this is a all in the family run band. I first caught them on the World's Best show playing Rainbow in the Dark. I now drive truck so I hit and miss shows a lot. It's amazing that after the show, and they did a studio full version with MeloDias unfinished Rainbow in the Dark painting, it went viral and they put out the Chain of Thorns EP. Their father did all the work to book their first tour from that in the US and some Canada. The younger kids were still being homeschooled etc. MeloDia graduated early because she wanted to concentrate on writing more music. It's not a normal thing to have them as an independent band book their own tour. This is when Ethan was transitioning to the bass from rhythm guitar. MeloDia was the original bass player. She still played and writes the bass. Thus is just before Sawtooth Chromecast endorsed them. So now you don't see Marshall amps etc. MeloDia met Vinny Appice at the Sawtooth booth at the Nam. Checkout from 1 player to another vlog with Liliac in 2020. A great interview before the endorsement. They will stay independent unless they got a sweet deal without a pay cut. They have one of the best merch tables I'm told at concerts. I liked your reaction. Just subbed. The newest release would be future shock for you, however it's fun to go back and forth. The new video is what I picture Liliac to be on the Big Stage. A lot of theatrics with awesome music. Sounds like you all are from Virginia Beach. I married my wife in 1979 while we were stationed nearby in the Army. Lol fun fact. Till next Liliac! Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. FANG 4 LIFE! RORH 🍻🌹❤️🤘🦇

Can't speak for others, but I know I suggested this song because it's live, an original, really shows off how good of a guitarist Sam is, and Melody kills it on vocals. Glad you enjoyed this song of theirs, it's a really good showcase of their talents as a band. If you're looking for what to react to of theirs next, I'd suggest their newest original "Carousel" or "Symphony of Destruction" if you want a cover. All of Liliac's stuff is pretty solid, so there's really nothing to avoid. Since you mentioned you enjoy watching keyboardists on stage, I'll suggest you check out the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica. Epica is most famous for their amazing lead singer, but their keyboardist loves to ham it up on stage. "Abyss of Time" would be my suggestion for an Epica music video to check out, or "Consign to Oblivion - Live at the Zenith" if you want to jump straight into their live stuff.

With MeloDia's unique voice being so powerful she has blown out speaker systems at their concerts. Her voice cannot be auto tuned as well. Lot of critics said she was auto tuned and her father Pappa Liliac has proven several times with his sound boards and whatever you can't auto tune her voice. It sounds terrible when you do. So that is one powerhouse of a voice she has. My favorite would be Not Afraid the extended version and then Carousel.

Abby is sometimes serious, like in their Holy Diver cover or their original We Are the Children, but usually she’s smiling and living her best life. Actually if you see any of their live interviews, they’re all smiling and happy. They are so grateful for the love and support from their fans. Ethan and Justin are usually more quiet, it seems to just be part of their personalities. You might want to check out Dear Father, which has a “vocal surprise” from Melody. I’m not going to say what that is because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. Melody and Sam have been singing together since they were very young. When they were still The Cristea’s, they did a cover of Rhianna’s “Stay”, it’s worth checking out, and Abby plays the accordion, their dad plays that too. Melody had such vocal control she can do something called throat singing, which I believe originated in Mongolia. You are excellent reviewers, you do good research and are obviously quite knowledgeable.

This was slightly older than Holy Diver. Ethan had just started playing the bass instead of Melody the singer. For a good journey of Melody's abilities, "Dear father" she does some operatic signing. A bit of throat singing in "Vertigo" Live 2021 Cumming, GA. Their cover of "Seven Nation Army" builds on how they are improving. Then, "Not Afraid" extended version. "Carousel" and "Somber Cry" are the newest. "Somber Cry" and a little older song "Sail Away" are ballads. Enjoy Liliac and thank you for the reactions.

The keyboardist, Justin, has graduated to a Keytar for their newest album. He plays it a little high up on his chest, but he gets it done. Ethan, the bass player, is getting down heavy on it much more now too, because they have Aiden Fisher, the stand-in guitarist for Stranger Things "Master of Puppets," as their touring rhythm guitarist now. The band and Aiden both live around the Atlanta area, and have become close friends. The touring drummer is gonna be a fill-in, because Abigail is pregnant and getting married soon or has already, and won't be able to tour with them this year.

You're right again. Aby on the drums often sets the tone. She's usually just pounding the hell out of her kit and singing and smiling and throwing that hair everywhere, but there are some songs where the game face comes along for the ride and she's looks deadly serious and incredibly intense (and still kicks the hell out of her kit). She's a lot of fun to watch, and in the light drum segments she's twirling her sticks or pointing to whoever's about to solo or do something big. Love to watch her play!

She also has a Bonnie Raitt quality as well. Her voice is made for this type of rock like a cross between 80's 90's and a hint of 70's. I actually am going to see Liliac on October 26th, in the Cincinnati area, just north about 20 minutes. I am actually excited to check them out. Very rarely am I excited for a smaller band, Meaning a band playing smaller venues. This venues probably maxes capacity at 800 or less, and that might be stretching it. Anyway the show should be good as they seem to sound good live in videos.

Abigail Cristea and Steve Morse are the two most consistently happy musicians I've ever had the pleasure to see live. Carousel would be a great next choice, or you could go way back and do Dancing In the Dark, Chain Of Thorns (both originals, with Melody on bass), Crazy Train (this one is live on, I believe, the Santa Monica Pier), or the song that brought most of us to the band for the first time, Enter Sandman (choose their official cover music video for this one).

I don't think that they are anti-record contracts, just anti-bad record deals. They were offered a record deal after they appeared on the World's Best, but they would have had to sign over 80% (this percent may have been even higher) the profits. Papa Liliac says they will sign a contract when they find a label that will look out for their best interest too.

She does have some Etheridge in there, for sure. Melody's voice sounds like a lot of people... in bits and pieces. "Oh, when she does that she sounds like Joplin" or "Joan Jett" or "Dio" or... well, let's just say her voice is VERSATILE, which is why she's so successful doing such a variety of covers. She doesn't sound exactly like anyone else, but there are times when she sounds a lot like some well known singers, either because she's duplicating the sound for a solid cover, or because the sound is really fitting for the original they're doing. The fact that she can do so much with her voice, and sound so good doing all of it, is what makes her special. Not very many singers can go from a vibrating, growling low to a damned near glass shattering high in the space of about two seconds, but she does it like it's nothing.

Suggestion if you want to see Mel (and the whole band really) shift gears a little would be Sail Away.
