A reporter asked Freddie one time what instrument he played, and he smiled and answered "I play the audience." The "Ay-oh" section after this song really shows you why. The Note Heard Round the World!

I love QUEEN, I have been listening to them since they began and now at 70 years old, I still have never grown tired of them. Excellent reaction, Freddie was a one-off, a legend. Captivating performer even back to Killer Queen and 7 Seas of Rhye. What a band. Every member is an excellent musician in their own right and together, they never cease to amaze me.

I watched this on television and I would beg to differ with many people who react to this performance, who talk about Freddie's "control" or "command" over the audience. It felt at that time that it was more like a symbiosis, a mutual feedback that was creating a shared experience. I'm sure Freddie knew this, understanding that his was the conduit through which we all were brought together. It was of a certain place and time but it made us feel immortal.

In case you don’t know what Radio GaGa is about, it was to do with the influence music videos and MTV had on radio at the time. Live Aid had all the biggest bands of the day performing, each had a 20 minute set. So that crowd weren’t a typical crowd of Queen fans, they didn’t even know Queen would be performing when they bought their tickets. You saw how they reacted, such was Freddie’s charisma. They would do whatever Freddie wanted them to do. You should do the whole set. There’s a good reason why it’s considered the best live performance ever by a rock band.

THE greatest frontman ever. Here's why: name one other frontman who tops Freddie in just any one of the following: audience command/presence, vocal performance/ability, songwriting, tempo, or just sheer drive and ambition (have a read on his origins and what he achieved)...

You need to do the whole Live Aide concert. Also "Somebody To Love" live in Montreal, 1981. "I'M NOT GOING TO BE A ROCK STAR" "I'M GOING TO BE A LEGEND" - FREDDIE MERCURY He never dies because he lives in his songs and our hearts. LOVE YOU FREDDIE MERCURY ❤️ Queen is Legendary and always will be..Amazing chemistry, totally focused, very harmonized, and a lot of energy. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, best musicians by far. Don't forget Roger's backing vocals while playing the drums. Concerts are not like that today. No lip syncing whatsoever. Pure talent. ❤️🔥

Queen's set at Live Aid went down as "20 minutes that changed music forever". 4 guys, just four ultimately talented guys put on the best show ever! (That's saying a lot from a huge Elvis fan)! Freddie's vocal cord doctor told him NOT to perform that day. So that's Freddie on a bad vocal day! Impressive indeed! Nobody wanted to go on after them, can you blame them? History of the Greatest Front Man of All Time! I'm sure you have watched the entire set but if not please do yourself a favor and watch it! There is a bad copy of this show out there that begins with the "Bobbie's: (I think that's what they are called in the UK.) Don't watch that one, it cuts a lot out. The one you want is when Brian and Freddie come skipping out on stage! Thanks so much man! I'm making my way through your Elvis reactions. I am headed to Memphis in July (2024) this time with no kids to chase around. I'm 60 now and it's on my bucket list to go see Graceland again, childless, and also go down to Beale Street one evening! I'm so excited, I can't wait! Keep up the good work my friend! Love from the USA

Can tell you’re a musician yourself the way you critique Freddie and Queen. You appreciate his talent since you know what goes into their performances. Did anyone ever mention how much you look like Ricky Nelson? He was an American rock and roll musician from the late 1950’s to early 60’s until he and his band died in a plane crash. Hope you’ll do more Queen, especially his live shows.

You are a good reacter, I shall tell you Its the lead-guitarist Brian May, and the drummer Roger Taylor who are the back-singers. The bass-pleier John Deacon, said of himself he was not a good singer, if you see him singing the mic is of or he lip sync. You said wrong on Hammer to fall.
