Dude immediately after performing thins they perform "not today" which is as energetic as this song and also have very hard choreography. Their concerts are 2.30-3hrs with no breaks in between and their energy is consistent from the start to the very end of the concerts, they are very good performers and their stage presence as grp and as solo is impeccable.

Dionysus was mostly known as the god of wine, but he was also the god of madness, rebirth and theater, so the whole song is filled with elements and symbology related to Dionysus and artistic creation (Suga's bridge where he talks about being reincarnated as an artist, for example). Also, Dionysus animal was the panther/leopard so the attention to detail, in this case for the props, is astonishing. There's also a second level to the connection between wine and music and it's that the korean words for alcohol and art are similar, so they also play with that element (RM really likes his play on words).

Yes it was the opening song for their SpeakYourself concert tour in 2019. They did this song at a Korean year end award show and added a whole intro series of mini solos as well as a dance break with dubstepped instrumental based on one of their early songs. It was so freakin amazing, If you do check that one out, the solos and entrance were all prerecorded and shown during the broadcast due to stage changes and wardrobe needs, but the members actually went out on stage during their corresponding solo and performed it for the live audience while those of us at home saw the prerecorded versions..... Dionysus itself was all live broadcasted. The lighting wasn’t my favorite during the dance break because it was so distracting but there is also a dance practice video of it if you want to check out the amazing choreo by itself. They carry this hype for three hours. Hands down the best live show on earth.

You would be amazed at the depth of BTS’ writing. RM is a genius, with an IQ of 148. His writing skills are amazing. They go layers and layers deep, with double and triple entendres, cultural references, wordplay that just astound! That is why there are channels that explain in depth, a lot of their songs. So much gets lost in the translations, and the lyric vids are usually wrong. As for the cultural references, they go deep in the Korean past, both socially, politically, and culturally. So without those explanation videos, 90% of the listeners would have the song and symbolism used in their videos go right over their heads. So if you want a whole new world of BTS to open up for you, and a greater level of appreciation and understanding, check out DKDKTV, XCELESTE, and BOOKISH THEORIES, when you do a song. Because if they have a video on a song, I can guarantee without it, you are missing a great deal.💜💜💜. Btw, love your musical expertise you bring.

Another fun fact about Dionysus which makes the drunk on art metaphor even more amazing is the fact that the god Dionysus was also strongly linked to theatre. There were theatre festivals in his name and the theatre festivals were named after Dionysus and he was honored at those festivals as the most important god. There was even a special place for the special Dionysus priest in their theatre buildings so it makes the reference BTS is making even more cultured in this context actually :)

Also it’s a clever word play in Korean - ‘Ye-sool’ is ‘art’ in Korean and ‘sool’ means alcohol/drink. That’s why they are saying, art (Ye-sool) is also a kind of drink (sool). ;) Always double, triple or multiple meanings behind their lyrics, eh?

In BTS MMA 2019 37 minutes, they perform so many song (persona, boy in luv, boys with luv, microcosmos, Dionisus) with improvisation dance. Solo dance, V as Apollo (God of sun) Jin as Ares (God of war) Jimin as Arthemis (God of moon) Suga as a God of Fire Jungkook as Poseidon (God of water) J Hope as Zeus (God of Thunder) RM as Dionisus (God of wine) Come on, watch BTS MMA 2020, its epic.

They have cans of oxygen that they use while changing outfits DURING the concert. These guys are athletes.

Dionysus is the opening song of the concert. Imagine the hype and the energy during the entire 3-hour concert ...Unbelievable strength and dedication. Based on the behind the scene videos, they had to put on a portable oxygen after a rigorous performance due to exhaustion. They consistently give it all.

The next song they do right after this is Not Today... another high intensity choreo. -_-"

Man, all the Video u watched , they were ALL singing LIVE , and even in their concert too , their live skill no doubt is one of best thing of BTS

I like that you are talking about the work it goes into such performances... Their concerts are full of energy, so they are exhausted, they have some breaks.. You can see some shootings from behind the scene, for me was hard to watch

Dionysus's performance is always EPIC!

Just want to add the Dionysus was a God that was considered an outsider due to his unbriging and later got accepted as a Greek God.(You know what that means in context to BTS coming from the East as outsiders.👀 Earlier images and descriptions of Dionysus depict him as a mature male, bearded and robed holding a fennel staff tipped with a pine-cone. However, in later images the god is show to be a beardless, sensuous, naked or semi-naked androgynous youth. He is described in literature as womanly or “man-womanish”. Dionysus was a classic clapback. Intellectual, tasteful. ART.

hey! they actually do perform their solo songs at their concerts and it's amazing I wish more artists did that. they also have subunit songs e.g. with 2, 3 or 4 members which they perform at other special events!!

Yup !! the lyric videos show which members are singing (although sometimes there are mistakes) and they also show which members are involved if it's a subunit song.

The layered vocals and ad-libs here is the backtrack, not other members. They usually do more harmonies and live ad-libs during performances without dancing or at least SUCH intense choreography (they would also do live ad-libs from other members if the choreo is one of the easier ones). Don't know how you or anyone else, but I can always differentiate their live vocals from backtrack, and each member from each other even if they whisper 😅

I’ve just watched your BTS NPR reaction and you were mentioning that they seem like a rock band sometimes. There are some really REALLY good Korean rock bands that you should check out! My favourite is F.T. Island. You should check out their MV for Wind. Their vocalist, in my opinion, has one of the best voices in Korea! He sounds exactly the same live too which is amazing. 😍

I don't know if someone already said this but they have a live band on their concerts called Ghost. They are FIRE with their riffs and sweepings, gives the songs their rock/metal versions it's amazing!

Jacob, I’m fifty years old and have been to every concert out there from Eagles, Chicago, Doobie Bros to Lady Gaga. But hands down the best concert I’ve been to is BTS. It was amazing and so much fun. I don’t know how they do it but it’s the best!!!

They are exhausted yes...but they are in such impeccable shape they can recover very quickly....if you watch any of there live performances (usually award shows show this best) but watch them after they hit the final pose and the camera lingers. You can see them trying to catch their breath....and most of the time they are trying to camouflage their gasping so you can tell they are definitely winded.

i don’t get what you mean by “the first time i’ve heard them signing live” the 5 concerts i’ve been to have been live especially the award shows? sasangs leaked the list of artists who will be signing live and who isn’t in a few shows bts have said before that they work and run while singing so they can keep a steady voice while preforming on stage live maybe i just misunderstood ? this isn’t a hate comment /gen

You will really learn a lot when you are an ARMY. Not only is Dionysus the greek god of art but also one who was reborn. Yes, this song is about their artistry and the long nights they labor over writing, producing, dance rehearsals etc. Also in Suga's rap, he says "born a kpop idol, and reincarnated as an artist.' I really love the metaphors and symbolisms they use in writing.

Jungkook is always singing harmonies and ad libs with rappers and vocalists in every live performance ... they won’t focus on him but you’ll see him singing in the back and hear him. Others ad lib and harmonize some too but it’s mostly him in the later days . Jimin kinda sounded like his voice cracked a lot.. and his pitch was off... he must have been sick or something bc it never happens that much.
