The sand pattern is not from vibration itself, but rather the distortion cause by the cone moving at a certain frequency. It can’t be mathematically predicted since each cone has its own distortion pattern. So the pattern you see from one speaker doesn’t necessarily show up from another speaker

An amazing example of a signal visualized. Looking at the stream of water perpendicularly is what you would see on an oscilloscope if you were looking at a signal in terms of voltage vs time. Looking down the hose at the water is what you would see on a spectrum analyzer in terms of frequency vs gain. Oscilloscope shows the time domain and spectrum analyzer shows the frequency domain.
