Fun fact: Yonghoon added that highnote alongside the guitar solo in Star's bridge on a whim in the recording room, it wasn't originally in the song when he composed it, and he recorded it in just one take ❣ Yonghoon hasn't really acted in musicals but he said he wants to. He said he finds it challenging so he respects musical actors a lot and said he'd always work hard to be ready for it if he got an opportunity in the future. He did, years ago, once play Roger in the musical Rent for the regular performance in his academy, but that's the only time we know of. As someone mentioned, he recently performed a duet of Phantom of the Opera's "All I Ask Of You" alongside operatic pop singer Ashley at his military band's concert where I think he got to showcase skills we don't usually get to hear (and he also led other songs from The Greatest Showman performed with his comrades). There is a military musical that is supposed to be coming back this year that I really hope he'll get to do. I saw performances from last year's before he enlisted and, as long as they actually based their casting on skill and ability to perform well on stage, he would definitely get in, I have absolutely no doubt. You mentioned the bassist CyA (the one with the husky tone) not singing as much in Universe and you'd be right, he actually didn't have any lines at all in Universe so this is the first time you've heard his voice. CyA is their bassist/rapper so while he does kinda sing like here, and either raps/melodic-raps/sings in most songs, they do have a couple of ballads like Universe where they decided adding a rap part or rap-singing just wouldn't fit. P.S. ONEWE will be releasing a new song Gravity on the 28th for an English full album (with English versions of previously released songs as the b-sides) that Yonghoon and Kanghyun prepared in advance just before they enlisted together mid-last year. Gravity is another of Yonghoon's songs, written (korean lyrics), composed, arranged mainly by him (with professionals to then help them then translate their korean lyrics to english because they aren't fluent themselves, and their rapper CyA working on translating his rap part). Warning, from the teaser pics and album concept (more rock and sexier) I expect Gravity will probably not sound anything like these two songs of Yonghoon's (Universe and Star) that you've heard so far. Really though ONEWE never disappoint no matter the genre, so I'm really looking forward to what musical style and vocals they pull out this time ❤ P.P.S. Thank you for such an interesting reaction! Yonghoon (Main Vocal) and Dongmyeong (Pianist) harmonies are Everything. They also have live acoustic versions of a lot of their songs on their youtube channel. Plus their covers of other kpop songs like (g)i-dle's Latata, Mamamoo's HIP, Hwasa's twit, and Oh My Girls Dolphin (and others) are amazing as well.

Oh hi they actually did performed STAR live on radio twice (both Naver shows) so if you looking for some live live performances go look for those! THEY ARE IMPRESSIVE!

The military sometimes does those so maybe he'll get to join one if he's lucky, otherwise we'll have to wait. He peformed a duet from Phantom and songs from The Greatest Showman at a military concert with some other singers (and also performed some ONEWE songs with the rest of the band as guests). Dongmyeong has actually been actively auditioning for musicals so I hope we get to see him act some day.

I love how you went from either breathless and awe-struck to raving the next moment :D I totally understand. Onewe has that effect on me too. Star has been an instant favorite of mine right when they first released it. All that flair and drama pulled me in! Plus the outfits!! Dongmyeong with that wide hat is phenomenal. About Yonghoon, he hasn't been in a musical but the rest of the fandom agree that he will ace being a theater actor if given a chance. Luckily, we were given a taste of it recently when Yonghoon performed The Greatest Showman and All I Ask Of You in the military concert last December. Vocal line harmonies catapult you on another plane of existence. It's that good. Yes, there are strings in the instrumentals. They have it from time to time in songs that require the dramatic flair. It showcases their vocals and abilities as a band, it’s probably my favorite onewe album ever. All of the members wrote a song in the album!! My favorite is Envision_, written by our drummer Harin! It’s absolutely gorgeous, I haven’t got words for it. The high notes in this makes me float every time! Thank you again!

YESSSS, stan ONEWE!!!! They make such marvelous music together, and sound fantastic live! The harmonies are also one of my favorite parts of their music. The bassist (CyA) didn't sing at all in Universe_, but I agree I love his tone! Technically he's the rapper, so his singing tends to be more in the "rap-singing" realm. I hope you continue to check out more of their songs! I recommend their songs Still Here, Cosmos, Regulus, and Parting (I had to stop myself from listing an additional 4-5 songs to recommend as well,,, all of their music is too good!). And if you want to listen to a vocal performance by Yonghoon and Dongmyeong that absolutely blew me away, for one of their online concerts they did a cover of I'll Never Love Again that was incredible!

They're such a great band and if you really liked STAR i will recommend Planet Nine: Voyager all their songs have their different favorites and each song is written by a different member! I also noticed you said you liked a bit of orchestra in their music and i would recommend checking out Reminiscence About All and A Book in Memory! They also have more songs like STAR that are space themed such as Parting and Regulus. 10/10 you won't regret those! I look forward if you do decide to react to them! As someone else stated, they did come back on 1/28/23 with their FIRST FULL album GRAVITY. It's such a good bop so there's that too! As far as I know Yonghoon hasn't done musical theatre and since he's currently in the military we'll have to wait a while for him to give it a try. But I agree he'd kill musical theatre and since Mamamoo's Solar made her debut last year in Mata Hari it's likely that it's on RBW's radar as another outlet for their artists. While Yonghoon and guitarist Kanghyun are in the military the other 3 members have been performing as a trio and you can find some great live vids of them at a year end show. Keyboard player Dongmyeong recently uploaded a cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on his birthday. On Jan 28 Onewe is releasing a full length album of English versions of selected title tracks, b-sides and one new song. They must have recorded it prior to Y & K's enlistment last July. Sounds like you've checked out the most popular k-bands. Besides Onewe my favorite k-bands are Hyukoh and Se So Neon, both of whom are indie bands outside the kpop system. I'd also recommend checking out Lee Jinah, who is a jazz pianist and singer. She doesn't have a big voice but she's an amazing composer and pianist and I think you'll like her.

I agree that Yonghoon would do well in musical theater, but I don't think RBW is that interested in it. They let Vromance's Yoon Eun-o out of his contract to move to another agency to pursue his career in musical theater. Of course, Solar has freedom to do what she wants, and the producer of Mata Hari asked her to do it. Swan from Purple Kiss just appeared on Immortal Song and since bands tend to do well there, I've always thought Onewe should try that show. Only a little over a year before Y & K come back. Did you see the fancams of Onewe with the army band from a couple of weeks ago?

@@moo5289 Yeah, they were terrific but seeing Y & K in their military dress unis while the other guys were in street clothes was a reminder of the reality over there. RBW never knew what to do with Vromance and wasted crucial years in the careers of some of the best male singers of their generation. RBW has a bad habit of signing uber talented people and failing to help them achieve the level of success their talent deserves. You're probably right about RBW & musical theatre and you're definitely right about Onewe & Immortal Songs. :)

@Moo52 idk if RBW themselves actually have any interest in it, but Dongmyeong has been actively practicing, taking lessons and auditioning for musicals while the hyungs are in the military. There's every chance though that he's doing it on his own because RBW aren't giving the remaining members proper schedules to promote Onewe, just like how CyA has spent more time working independently on his personal SoundCloud to keep giving us music. RBW should have gotten Onewe on Immortal Songs years ago honestly, but fingers crossed they'll get the chance to go on it once they get back. Hopefully Onewe will have more freedom to do what they want once their 7yr contract finally ends in April next year, just after Yonghoon and Kanghyun return; whether that still includes musicals or just releasing the music they want to and exploring other opportunities (better suited and more shows, festivals, tours, etc.) to promote better than what RBW have, or have not done, until now.

A bit late to this, but another kband you might like is 2Z. They've actually done a number of BL OSTs, and their members have acted in various BLs as well. For another Onewe song for something of a slightly different sound, I'd actually recommend their OST track "About Her." It's from the drama Was It Love? They also just released their first English-only song, "Gravity," which you might be aware of.
