Thanks! So informative. Puts it simply & well. Plus incorporates a nice load of MODERN music to keep a viewer I'll be showing this to - who knows little about classical music or music theory - connected/interested in the subject. I PARTICULARLY liked the textural analysis of the '80s pop standard 'Come On Eileen': I'd never noticed this before! :-)

If I'm understanding the idea of texture and layers properly, I'm thinking the song "Moaner" by Underworld would be an excellent example. It's hard techno, but people should take a listen if they're interested in music theory. I love it because it's so complex. As best as I can see, Including beats and vocals, it starts with 3 layers/sounds and adds one at a time all the way up to 9 layers. It's fascinating how 9 different beats and sounds can interplay so seamlessly all at once. It's quite intense. I'd love to hear anyone's opinions if they listen to it.

Having to take classes for my education degree and not knowing anything about the class is hard to learn, study and pass exams when the information is all completely new to me. I have always loved music but never have had the opportunity to learn or have the right type of learning environment to make it worth the time or energy to retain to grasp the subject.
