    These people aren't beggars or panhandlers. They are self employed musicians who grace us with their music for whatever we wish to donate to help them continue their work in music. They put themselves out there for you enjoyment or you can be negative and they know that. Be grateful for not having to pay a large ticket price for that beautiful music. 😃😃👋👋♥♥

    I never followed any of the social media moms, until I came across this family. I love when the mom just sits in front of the camera for 45 minutes and chats and let’s us know how in the world they live this sort of life. I like the kids and all, but what I really enjoy is when she and sometimes Marc speak about priorities, values, and faith. And they don’t preach, but you can tell how faith gives them the courage to take all these risks and lead such an unconventional life. They are very interesting people.

    As a musical hobbyist, I don't think that it's wrong for the children to busk to help pay for their own musical development. Music lessons are expensive and high quality instruments are even more so. I think that it's fair for the kids to help pay for their own musical development as they get older. It's not like the parents are obligated to pay every penny for their children's musical development... And if they were, the kids likely wouldn't have nearly the same quality teachers and instruments now that they do because the parents simply wouldn't be able to afford paying for them. Busking has given these kids access to some of the best classical music teachers in the Country, and the ability to afford great quality instruments. That isn't a bad thing at all.

    You’re absolutely right. I grew up in a homeschool family where we learned bluegrass. I had a couple hundred dollar banjo for many years and did well with it. As time went by it was my desire to get a better instrument. I worked extra jobs, busked, and was very kindly gifted some money to be able to buy an instrument that was a couple thousand dollars. When you get that next level instrument it sounds so much better and is easier to play so all you want to do is play it more and in turn become a better musician. My parents didn’t make me learn to play the banjo. I wanted to and they helped as best they could to make it happen and encourage me to be the best I could be. I’m nearly thirty now and to some degree can play six instruments by ear. I hope to pass the joy of playing music on to my own children. It’s such fun to be able to sit down and connect with others through music and bring some enjoyment to others that don’t play anything as well.

    I think this is an absolute and beautiful example of a family planning ahead for their children, and involving those children in the larger picture. The parents only benefit is that they will see their children succeed and come to a place where they see their hard work pay off. Just because they have a faith in God, does not mean there can be a negative spin on their story. Well done parents. For offering a healthy path that their children can choose to go down. Good parents offer good paths. 👍

    The ones who don't understand are the ones who don't have a kid who is consumed by music and who needs very expensive lessons and instruments. To be sure, the parents were involved at the beginning, but any musician that reaches the level that these children have only do so because they are internally motivated.

    or being forced to by abusive parents - feel sorry for these kids. No way a family of 12 kids are all going to want to be musicians, there is something very sinister going on with this family dynamic.

  • @dwfaught

    @dwfaught

    10 ай бұрын

    @@traylong Nope. The kids would never reach the level they have unless something internal is driving them. The younger children have been constantly exposed to music by the older children and are naturally drawn to it (the Suzuki method is powerful precisely because it relies on kids being motivated by seeing other kids play well). It's not OK to say that something sinister is going on unless you have personally witnessed it. I have personally seen how a family into music produces many fine musicians and there is nothing evil about it. Would you say the same about a family of athletes who excel (the Williams sisters? the Mannings?). Is it that this family is religious that is raising your hackles?

  • @traylong

    @traylong

    I would say the same thing for athletic, or dance /theatre parents who are living vicariously through their children's activities. In Canada we call them Hockey parents. And yes it is a form of abuse in some cases. Religious or not, it is not good parenting.

I am sorry that many feel they are being forced into this. I am remembering a document on music that my pastor, who was my pastor when I was younger, gave me that gave a brief and insightful look at music. The one statement that stood out to me was this: "Music is a necessary luxury." I agree. Like this family, Music is my passion. And I thank God for those who not only have this gift, but choose to use it for God's glory and for the good of those around them.

    I understand that the kids enjoy music and aren’t forced to practice but I do wonder if there was ever a chance for them to do otherwise. It seems like they grow up surrounded by it and it’s pretty much expected for them to join in. As a kid you don’t want to disappoint your parents and you want your older siblings to like you so of course every new kid in the family picks up music too. Was there ever a point of them being exposed to other educational/occupational fields? I also feel so bad for the oldest son. They talk so much about Juilliard and how it’s the best school and the oldest is always a after thought of “oh he goes to the Manhattan school of music” and everyone else is still only aiming for Juilliard. And quitting your job and relying on social media to fund your family is so wild. Media attention never lasts a lifetime.

It’s unfortunate that it puts them in a place to compete with one another for their dreams 🥺 They all seem extremely talented and I am sure that music is a wonderful outlet for them at this point in their lives, I really wish all the best for these kids and I hope they are all happy 🥹

    It can be so hard to be born into a family where you are expected to fit a certain mold. I hope at least some of the children are happy and able to lead happy lives in the future.

    Did you even LISTEN to the children speaking for themselves. If you follow this family at all on their YOU Tube videos, you see how they live and enjoy the talents they have

    Exactly, someone very wrong with this whole story. No way does every kid in this family want to be musicians, likely they were forced to by abusive, controlling parents, and are isolated from making any real friends or having any outside interests.

    @@dorindanothnagel7636 how is that telling, abused kids always parrot what their dysfunctional parents want the world to hear. Shame on these parents for exploiting their children for their own glory. Disgusting.

    What are the kids going to say? They want to be loved and they have the burden of supporting the family and the parents keep reproducing.

    Absolutely agree. It’s terribly unnerving. These parents are selfish.
