The musical “GIRLFRIEND” will be performed from June 14, 2024 for the first time in Japan. An open rehearsal was held and the six cast members performed their songs.
The musical is based on “GIRLFRIEND,” a CD album by Matthew Sweet, an American singer-songwriter who shined brightest in the “power pop” (a form of rock music) scene in the 1990s. This pop-rock musical depicts a sweet and sour “love affair” between two young men.
Kensuke Takahashi, Taisei Shima and Takuma Izawa are triple cast as Will, and Keigo Hagiya, Shion Yoshitaka and Rui Kihara will likewise play Mike, .
