I think it's because they don't over-do them and they're not out of place. Jinjer isn't tone-deaf to the usage of it unlike a lot of other bands. A lot of the 90's metal I listen to go fairly heavy on the growls, and it can get repetitive even for me when the growls are not used to emphasize an emotion but the singer is doing it because they're locked to the genre.

Fun reaction. It looks like it is at her bf Alex Lopez's house rather than at a studio, since that's his cat. For jazz, check out Beggar's Dance though it is just an under 3-minute outro song with no video, it is well-loved and always puts a smile on my face. Also, an older song Exposed As A Liar has extended jazzy cleans that sound like they should be performed in a sequin dress in front of a black-tie crowd - combined with death growls, as one does. Maybe a double feature since the one is so short and doesn't have a video? ;) There is a live video of Exposed As A Liar in the form of the "Crowd Factory DVD Trailer."

How the fuck am I 3 years late to these videos. Great reactions! Tatiana is in Warsaw, Poland right now recording the vocals for the next album. She has been posting on IG about it. You'll have to revisit them soon. Did you ever get to see them live since these videos? Such a fantastic live band. Last time I saw them in September 2023 was my 12 year old son's first real concert. From parents who saw Mahavisnu Orchestra live and got me into fusion-jazz, classic jazz, classic rock, funk and new wave as a kid, to spending countless nights in DC seeing punk and hardcore shows in the 80s and 90s and seeing reggae shows, jazz, funk, hip hop, go-go, metal, honkey-tonk, etc live, Jinjer ranks right up there with the best of them for live performances. Rock on.

omg, good call - I forgot that one! a bit of background, it is about being forced to leave their homes due to the war and their hometown getting bombed. No official video yet, but toward the end of the year they will be releasing a live album and hopefully also DVD from Melbourne this spring so hopefully we'll get a high-quality live video then - in addition to the jazzy part, it is one of their 3 songs with Tatiana's most savage growls, the others being Who Is Gonna Be The One and Pit Of Consciousness with the live in Kiev version of that one being the one that reallly shows off her growls to greatest effect compared to the studio version. The studio version and official video are fire but omg the live performance video is incredible.

Sorry to "burst your bubble" but the name Jinjer derives from no language. None of the current band members know where the name originated from or what it means, although there's a belief among them that it's the onomatopoeia of a chug from a downtuned, distorted guitar sound. : ) _Booyah!_ is not a word used specifically in Ukraine (without the "the", please). Quite the opposite, it's mostly used in English-speaking countries. You keep saying "studio" but this video was probably (with a 99% probability) recorded at Suicide Silence's rehearsal room, with just a black curtain separating the mic and the camera from the rest of their instruments.

@@kenplotzke86 - I watched all their interviews and I've never heard Tatiana or Eugene mention that. Plus, there's no famous drag queen called Jinjer.

    It's not " Booyah!", but "Booya" - Tati's nickname. :)

She is the female version of Devin Townsend, imo....I don't care for women who growl but I made an exception for her. The whole band is Incredible.

You should check out Nightwish. Another style of metal I think you would like. Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013 is a pretty amazing live performance. One of the best I have seen

Jinjer has done jazz/ contemporary stuff. Home back and beggars dance are some examples but then again I could be mislabelling the genre

The big secret or key to this song is to hold a cat right before you sing, I don’t why it works? It just does.

A lot of reactors including the ones who fake loving it just don't like the way it's laid out. Perennial is my favorite also btw what got me into Jinjer was a song years ago just check it out on your own no reaction. It's called Waltz. After that just fell in the tunnel. Love her voice 😊
