Damn this takes me back. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was the reason I started skating and also introduced me to a world of music that I had no idea existed. It definitely influenced my taste in music.
I love the variety in ska. You got second and third wave, rude, skunk, stroll, stomp, kinda reggaeish shit. It’s all over the place. Loved your video
I loved Goldfinger so much when i was in highschool. The second album Hang-Ups is so good and still one of my favourites today. They were so good live and it was all about having an amazing time.

Yeah hang ups is such a classic album. So good.

It is their best in my opinion
Oh, boy. You'd have a good time with Streetlight Manifesto or Catch-22 lmao Also, shout out to the crossbuster sticker on John Feldmann's guitar 👍
2003, House of Blues on Sunset, Reel Big Fish opened (“the show must go off” tour). My girlfriend crowdsurfed to the stage during Mabel. Drove home naked. It was a fun show.
A 6x of Blink-182 would be so great! Especially with their transitions of their albums!
I heard somebody describe ska as “what a 12 year old boy hears in his head when he gets free mozzarella sticks at the skating rink,” and I’ve never been the same since. Fuck, it’s so catchy though.

Ska is also punk music for band nerds.

Ska is too much fun to dislike
came here straight from the no doubt one and gotta say hearing you're doing a 6-by of ska is right up teenage me's street. in fact even in the mid 2000's when i started university me and a guy there hit it off instantly because we both loved the likes of goldfinger, less than jake and the aquabats. i still have a vegetarian starter kit signed by goldfinger's singer that i got from a show in like 2004. my tastes these days are a little more heavy but i still love how fun and silly some of the older ska was, and how it's grown into something a bit more technical and intricately composed than "here's a pop punk song with a horn section" - very excited to see who else you cover in this little series!
Was the song that made me buy this album, plus almost one of the sickest album covers at the time
Their Album Hangups has so many bangers on it. Seriously a great album.
I first heard these guys in Tony Hawk Pro Skater, the song Superman. Caused me to buy their greatest hits album, then got to seem them years later at Soundeave Festival in Brisbane Australia. They were SO good live!!
love these guys. so many good hits
I saw Goldfinger and Bad Religion play together in like 97'ish at the local beachside Holiday Inn I think...great show. I had a great story about that show and something to do with the Vandals but its list to the sands of time.
This was so much fun! I actually knew this song but your review of it is awesome! Thanks again for the videos. Keep it up!
This band and their first 2 records were like 90% of my pre-teen and early teenage musical upbringing. I also have that same Jinjer shirt.
Man, you are one of my favorite reactors. And doing Ska is awesome so guess what, you get a like and a subscribe
Call me simple, but this song carried be through high school. Being a piano player (noob level) adding a piano on top, as you did in some parts, would have been the icing on the cake.
In answer to your restroom question. At my old work I went for a dump in the staff toilet and realised afterwards there was no paper. I had to text my manager on shift to bring up a new roll. It was a good job I took my phone with me for some mid-poop light reading!

Lololol
God that chorus gives me shivers
I still have and listen to this cd. Great pick!
Just finished seeing yout 5 of Jacob collier - You should definitly check out In the real eraly morning with the Metropole orchest @ the BBC Proms!!
If you're doing Ska youve gotta do Streetlight Manifesto please
One of the best bands he found for me was the used, killer band
The fun part about ska is the relation to punk, which has that relation to emo/indie, which is why you get that Elliot smith kinda voice vibe, because they are all in a musical family. You could probably play Goldfinger at the same party with people who love bright eyes, Elliot smith, the shins, taking back Sunday, my chemical romance, and the clash
Because you mentioned Blink-182. John Feldmann did produce alot for Blink-182 as well. But you should have totally checked the Live at the House Of Blues version of this song, or that concert in general. The energy these guys deliver is crazy!
Highly suggest RX Bandits for ska 6x. Something from their 1999 album..most ska groove is “Now or Never”
goldfinger reminds me of middle and high school/ what a great time for music. i love that you include all genres in your music shed series. will you check out attitude by ALien Ant Farm, or their cover of everything she wants by wham!
Just found an old band i used to love - Emery. They're an emo/screamo band but with more mature guys - not the typical teens who do that kind of music. I used to love the melodies and unique vocals, but nowadays their music seems so much more complex and dynamic with rythm changes and other fun bits and pieces in their composition. Do check them out.
Watch the 2020 Quarantine verison!!
You guys gotta check out the new Motionless in White song Cyberhex. It’s so good.
Day #17 asking for a 5-By of Sammy Rae and the Friends. 💙 T-Minus 2 days until I get to see them live in Indy!
Hey David just discovered your channel and have been enjoying all the videos. Fell into a Dance Gavin Dance hole for the past few months and it lead me here. I'd love to see a reaction video to another band I discovered a couple years ago and have loved everything they've done since. The band is Capstan and if you could do a reaction to the song "Denouement" that would be awesome. Lots of twists and turns in that one. Thanks!
Please give Reptile by periphery a video, would be great to see you give your thoughts on this song
Skavoovie and the epitones are lesser known but do some awesome ska/big band/jazz stuff
PLEASE react to Silk Sonic’s cover of Love’s Train! So curious to get your perspective!!
There's 2 key changes in this song aren't there?
Try darrin's and the coconut ass album. Boom
Please listen to bad omens and starset I think you would really like them
Hopefully, by the end of this 6 by, you'll be a SKA-lar 🤣
Please do fall out boy!
I know I suggest a different artist to check out every time but this time I mean it. You need to listen to Stars by Hum if you haven’t heard it already. Hum was part of the 90s alt rock scene but also had a huge influence on bands like deftones. Super dreamy but crushing
Is the 5 by slipknot just not happening?

Or the 5 by Coheed and Cambria, and probably more I haven't been following

Ask Howie
Ska punk at it's finest
You should check out less than jake, science of selling yourself short or look what happened
Goldfinger does an absolutely stellar version of 99 Red Balloons that I highly recommend everyone check out. Also, since you're doing Ska, please tell me you're doing some Voodoo Glow Skulls? You'd love 'em!
Saw Goldfinger and heard Shirley Bassey in my head. That's a better song. She can really belt out a tune.
I like Goldfinger, but this song, despite it's popularity, is not one of my favorites by them. You should check out Superman, or 99 Red Balloons.
The John Feldmann-ization of pop punk was one of the worst things to happen to the genre. If you told me 20 years ago the guy from gold finger would be writing blinks 182s choruses I would’ve laughed at you.
