I've watched a ton of this dudes videos now, but this was the first one I saw. A friend sent it to me and I new the song was dope so I had to check it out. Only a few minutes in, this guy literally brought me to tears. I was born with an auditory processing disorder that limits my brain from understanding more than one sound at a time. That bit during Ekko's second verse almost has an industrial feel which is an absolute bitch to mesh well into a contemporary hip-hop beat. Riot's sound team is full of absolute mad geniuses.

They made up for Ekko originally being voiced by a white Italian dude by casting all his later VAs and rapper voices with actual black dudes.

So some lore clarification here that really helps with some of the song production: The lead of this group (In-game name is Ekko), he's all about reverse/double-takes/rewind/reset. He's very much about time, so they're messing with the time signatures whenever he starts going off in the song, and it fits *UNBELIEVABLY* well with this as a lore/character/music blend.

Crazy Man After playing many more games I actually realized how balanced LoL actually is. While there are some champions that are better than others, most champions are viable or just simply good. Also usually the meta varies quite a bit which makes having stronger characters not too stale. Thing is that having a perfectly balanced game while having this many champions, items, runes, comps, etc. is impossible but they’ve been doing a fine job.

The fact that you said "reversing effect" when the ekko was rapping.... literally his whole thing is time and rewinding time.... they put so much detail for stuff like that

If he knew about ekko's skill reversing in time and placing it in his solo he'd be blown. How ekko's beat is reversed to match his character is evenmore details

Your reaction to this is easily to me, the best and most unbiased. Your attention to the smallest detail truly gives insight to things others and myself would have never noticed otherwise. Kudos to you

Whats also cool about the reversing in the beat was that is what the character, Ekko, does in the game blink through time, a lot of flavor.

That reverse effect you were talking about. The character who is singing at that moment can rewind time about 3 or 4 seconds as part of his playstyle. It was totally intentionally to do that to stay true to the champion

I feel like Duckwrth's hip hop verse could have been a whole separate song.

The little bit from popstars at the beginning kicks you in the head and tells you to bow down before the song even starts, ITS SO GOOD

At first I thought the chorus felt lackluster, like you said needed more layers of sound to make it hit harder, however the more I listen to it the more I like how it is, less instrumentation emphasizes the vocal hook more. Really liking this one.

Him giving Keke credit for all of Becky G's parts and vice versa was killing me, haha! Still loved listening to it, though. He's always as hype as I am for these songs, so it's really satisfying to watch and listen to. I learn to hear and appreciate parts of the song that I didn't notice before.

The one you thought was keke is actually Becky G. In the song she says "Qi qi" referring to that character's name "Qiyana"

I actually think the live performance was better than web track (both are 🔥 though)

Keke Palmer does the chorus. I understand your mistake, I guess it’s fair if you don’t know the characters in game.

I always love the different perspective you bring to music reactions. I would've never caught those intricacies in the instrumental.

Interesting note about the song - the in game skin for Ekko actually rewinds the track at parts of the game play, so the song was not only crafted to sound good going forwards, but also to sound good going backwards. Adds even more wonder to the creativity and craftsmanship of the production.

i really enjoy the songs riot is putting out for their characters. you can really tell the production value in them, and those animations 🥵 the rappers and vocalists they choose really fit the theme and characters too! it’s all so thought out it’s crazy

@@JS-yh2eh People complain so much about balancing. When the game has 140+ champs, 10 - 20 of them will always be problematic. There will never be real balance, just the matter of if League is fun to play or not, and the game is a lot more fun to play right now, compared to previous metas. Remember unkillable Juggernauts? Or hyper carries ADC meta where games last 50 min each. Or Arden Censers? Or League of Warmogs/League of Black Cleavers? The meta is pretty healthy for the past 1 - 2 years. 80+ champs (from a total of 140+) were picked/banned at both Worlds 2018 and 2019, showing a good amount of diversity even at the highest level.

I love watching videos of people who know about what goes into making music react to videos like this. I watched the mv and learned about the character b4 watching this, and hearing all of your insight on the beats and melodies and the effects that the music gave to the feeling of the video really makes me appreciate the attention to detail that goes into productions like this.

Yessss right after seeing the live concert, I was hoping you would analyze the song like you did one year ago with K/DA

Just found your channel and watched all your league vids. The best part is that without knowing the game you identify effects that really fit the characters on screen. In this one is the ekko part were you talk about reverse effects and ekko literally reverses time in the game. They clearly put alot of effort into this musics and handpicked their "singers". Great job man.
