Musicman Stingray IV: Like the Precision Bass and Jazz Bass, the Music Man Stingray was a hugely innovative bass designed by Leo Fender. The original was one of the first basses to use active electronics which gives the Stingray a big, punchy sound that's since been embraced by players like John Deacon of Queen and Flea. Currently, Musicman makes a few variations on the original Stingray including this standard Stingray 4- string.

As much as I love my Jazz Bass this bass always blows me away when I play and hear it.

Nice clean Stingray bass, I like that punchy sound.
Love that Stingray sound. Incredible bass sound used by: (some of my favorite players) Pino Palladino, Bernard Edwards & Paul Denman ( Sade band ). oNe LovE from NYC

I always play fast forward when I hear slapping. Noone uses this old fashioned technique anymore. Thank God.
The chain bass line is the best bass line ever and this bass guitar 🎸 is brilliant
Why did they mix all the highs in the left channel and the lows in the right channel? It sounds so obtrusive.

Best Bass ever …. :) I have already played all kinds of basses, but in the end, only one thing ever got to the point. MUSIC MAN STINGRAY !
Such a tasty n punchy sound
Rick Danko of the Band used this on Stage Fright
Louis Johnson lives on...!!!
I heard you sneak Aeroplane in there at the end. Can't fool me!
I reckon Cliff Williams (AC/DC) has used this a lot to to get that thick rock sound. He is the reason why I picked up the bass guitar in the first place.

Lots of people did. Because AC/DC is a huge influence still today. Not so RHCP or Queen. I like them all, but the latter are almost forgotten.
How come do you guys make all your basses sounding so perfect?

I have exactly that same bass.

It was just an improvised tune I was noodling around on to show the clarity of the bass.
John Deacon used this bass, but his main basses were two Fender Precission Basses.

Well he used this bass around 1976-78 it was used in the Hyde park concert, Earl's Court and probably a lot more times around then but yeah you're right he usually used precision basses with the exception of some like the Rickenbacker and the Jazz bass for killer queen... I made a whole chart of this... How sad is that...

That one line makes me want to purchase one of these super badly. Been in the market for a bass for a little while and the demo on this one really puts this sting Ray model on the top of my list. Thank you for being able to get into the grove and showing off what these bad boys can do.
Some unknown bass player called Cliff Williams of an unknown tiny band named AC/DC or so reportedly plays a Stingray too. Do you really think, kids on the street still know, who John Deacon is?
guys what is better, this or the Fender JB?

Those new Stingrays with the 3EQ section are, to my own opinion, not very good instruments. I have a 1991 MM20 with the 2EQ section that sounds wayyyyyyy better. Last year got myself the 1976 4 strings with a 10 poles pickup and the black epoxy preamp... man ! this bass is shaking ground like no other. Anyone should try to find an old stingray, really.
love the sound hate the pickguard looks like the toilet top
