@@mikeyreza I think it should be noted that apart of the problem from this time was the lack of proper education in the methods of leadership. Yes, perhaps fathers would tell their sons of what they learned and the trials they faced. Perhaps generals would take their successors with them in battle, schooling them in warfare first hand on the battlefield. But what many of these men do not consider is that much of what they know is limited to their experience. Their answer is not always the right answer. Their situation is not always the same situation. And as such, what works for one does not always work for a second. That is not to say some civilizations did not come to start to understand this. I very much feel it is possible the Romans did, as their emperors did not come from birthright but earned their place as the heir by showing they were capable. There are probably other civilization who also choose to do this, but for now, the Romans are the ones I know the most about, thus are the subject of my example. But the majority of civilizations did not even appear to understand this. At least, not from what I know of history.

@@christopherpoet458 the Roman Empire is a very complicated succession because technically it was by adoption from the start or by election when there wasn't an heir chosen by the emperor. “A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.” - Marcus Tullius Cicero (Roman Philosopher)

I feel that there is something so powerful in this music that describe really well the fall of an empire. It might be just me but, from the start till 0:45 it feels like a remembering of the good old days, the golden age of the empire when the borders reached where all the lights touched, when no one dared challenging the army of the empire, when all the poeple within the empires prospered with wealth and joy. Then after 0:45 it feels like a little mocking of the empire as if it was saying and now every thing that remains is in the ashes. Did you really think that you were gonna last forever? And to add more salt to the wound at 2:14 it feels like a denouncing of the empire, as if it was saying look all those blood you spilled for your empire to prospere, look at all the poor souls you butchered during your conquest, you feel bad about your empire falling apart but i doubt you even cared about the life of those whom had to be sacrificed. just in case someone read it thanks for paying attention just wanted to share my vision on this music. It has been an honor to struggle fellow citizen. We did everything we could to bring hope to the future and build a better tomorrow, but the Deep State was too deep and our leadership, including Executive, corrupt. Remember to look after fellow loyalists in these coming dark times. I'm afraid we never knew the Dream, but the pale shadow of the real Dream that we never had the opportunity to experience, a fragment of a much larger whole.

I feel as though the word empire was used for effect. While it *technically* doesn’t control other nations through imperial rule, America is incredibly interventionist and even belligerent, as shown in the Iraq war. It has a ridiculously strong grip on most countries in the world, and while that provides a sense of security, there are the instances where that power is abused.

Reminds me of that line from Collateral. “You kill him…” “No, I shot him. The bullets and the fall killed him.”
Time. Something so fleeting and elusive that no one has caught it. One of the greatest mysteries. Our greatest enemy. Another force fighting progression. But for how long can that progression be prevented? Time. We always need more. "Where did it all go?" We ask ourselves. We need more time to think. To react. We always need more. But it doesn't stop for you. It doesn't slow down. It doesn't speed up. Time is mindless and heartless. Time always wins. So why do we fight it? Do we think we can beat the clock? Time. There's never enough. "I need more."
