D-Low Judge Showcase!

Helium’s GBB 23 Wildcard (Round 2) is a technical masterpiece, from a drumming pattern perspective it’s ridiculously good

this is in my opinion the greatest showacase in all of gbb. some of the routines are so iconic and amazing

usually, peopel say don't critique subjective tastes but man, how did you even come to the conclusion that this is the best showcase ever? Like what are your parameters? They weren't clean, they were spammy at times, the structure was all over the place, like not a single theme .. i really don't see what makes this even that good, let alone the best .. e.g. literally the worst performance by either Rogue wave, or Middle school beats this by a mile

@@Mr.Jasaw13 sure its not as clean or pretty but that not what the showcase is about this showcase is way more fun and enjoyable its not always about skills or whos better this isnt even part of the competition its a showcase

Context for the wonky harmonies: the audio at the event was a bit strange. The room was too big, so Sinjo (the sound engineer) was caught between either having quiet foldback for the performers or having lots of feedback. As a result, most anyone whose performances relied on harmonies were severely impacted, as they couldn’t really hear themselves or their teammates. This spiralled into a lot of pitching issues with a wide range of performances, and the lack of proper sound checks and rehearsals didn’t help either. All in all, lots of mistakes were made but they were all improved in this year’s GBB!

Tony, you keep calling yourself a beatbox outsider, but I think you’ll only be one as long as you consider yourself one. Drums - timing, composition, and rhythms - are one third of the beatbox formula along with the musicality and the beatbox techniques. Please keep leaning into this space of analyzing the drums, and don’t worry about the beatbox techniques (unless you want to!). As far as I’m aware you’re the only one out here looking at it from this angle, and tbh I think you’d be a great part of a well rounded judging panel for a beatbox event as you could more objectively score the percussive aspects of beatbox without getting bogged down by the techniques used. Thanks for these reactions/analyses, your perspective is appreciated

Hi Tony, how are you? I recommend the GBB 2021 M.O.M showcase, for me it is the best showcase of that year. The connection, the dynamics, and that with basic sounds they did incredible things, they were crew champions that year, I highly recommend it. I also recommend that you take a look at this year's GBB, all the TAG TEAM videos have already been uploaded and they are crazy, Rogue wave and Jairo are the two teams that I recommend. Helium's round 2 wildcard for gbb23 is simply insane. It would be difficult for anyone to say that he isn't the best beatboxer in terms of percussion sounds, and I think his round 2 wildcard showcases his mastery of them perfectly .

My favorite thing about Uniteam is their insane timing. They often are making the exact same sounds at the exact same time. It's nuts

WING is one of the best groove dudes

You should check out if only by hiss, alexinho colaps and river. It's not a showcase. It's a beatbox music video but it's as clean as it gets and the composition is amazing (widely regarded as one of the best beatbox arrangements in recent times).

I would really love if you could watch D-Low Kickback Battle Winner Compilation. Shit, id pay for it. SO MANY PATTERNS, tier 1 sound quality, so many ideas that can be translated to music tracks. Please please, pretty please!!!

Hey Tony check out the showcase elimination from Rogue Wave from the 2023 GBB in Tokyo.

The audio is as not suited well to the venue. The engineers had to choose between to little monitor or too much feedback. It was really hard for duos to get an accurate harmony because of the low monitor volumes.

yeah the off sync clapping gets mad annoying, but it's not only beatboxer and musicians at the live shows, you have wifes and other friends who arnt into music as hard as we are just going for a good time.

you watched the wrong video, you should watch there winner compilation from 2019 there skills are preformed and captured way better there

Check out new schooler 2021 gbb wildcard its a 5 man group and they are immaculate and i think they will fit your taste for clean beats which are beautiful youre gonna love them

Who da heck is recommending these subpar vids. I mean sure, they were decent back when they came out, but the things that came out last 2-3 years, that mostly focus on musicality, structure, and flow are leagues ahead of this.

​@@Mr.Jasaw13Nope. This was suggested several times on previous beatbox videos. Everything I have done that is beatbox on the channel has been from comment suggestions except for the very first beatbox video. First one was Patreon
