He's not a villain, he's actually very sweet (despite his first appearance in the anime not being the most pleasant one). He's actually a friend of the protagonist that helps in the story, part of the main group of characters and he is amazing!

If you want to check your first JoJo's villain theme: *"Killer"* and *"Another face, same mind"* are both themes for the villain Yoshikage Kira and are regarded as two of the best villain themes of the anime. The reason of being two themes is that the villain is very... well... complicated. Both songs complement each other, like a first part and a second part for a album or, better said, side A and side B. Love your videos, you're one of the reasons that made me want to start playing instruments by myself. I've always been good at identifying different instruments in songs, but I've never been the one to go and play it, so tyvm! ✊♥️

Everytime I hear this sound, I wanna cry🥺 so emotional, love this theme.

Fun fact: There's a JoJo character that actually is a "sneaky western character" (literally a cowboy lol) called Hol Horse and his theme is called "Wind in The Wilderness". Maybe it's nowhere as big as the other themes, but now that you mentioned that Kakyoin's theme remebered you a bit to the westerns music I just HAD to tell you. I think you would really enjoy it

This theme will always make my heart swell. It gives such an epic feeling and it fits the character so well.

I'm a sucker for the bit where the main motif is taken up in the cello.

Instead of using power (to which he lack especially than Jotaro) Kakyoin tend to strive with logic and deduction, it's a breath of a fresh air watching him defeating foes with gamer move. Basically, he's the brain of the group. Kakyoin also often smoothen things out when situation becames too tense or rough, like apologizing for Jotaro's poor choice of words on his behalf. Kakyoin's voice and choice of words is heavenly now that I watch Stardust Crusader again... But my god, some his act is still downright hardcore. P. S Kakyoin's mature and poise upbringing also influenced Jotaro as a character I just realized this when I watch DIU again. 😵 TYSME for the likes! English is not my first language, so I'm sorry in advance if some words or grammar is just 🤢😭 Love your videos, have a great days everyone! ☺️👍

that part of the theme playing right before he dies is criminal, especially considering how hopeful it sounds

The fact that you can throw out terms like "Western" and "70's crime drama" really goes to show how well this music is composed lol

This theme shows his character growth throughout the show I just love it so much, you can hear how the music changes with what he does/character goes through

That's interesting that you mention this theme being similar to Ennio Moricone's score for The good the bad and the ugly since Araki said that he took inspiration from Clint Eastwood while imagining Jotaro (the main character of part 3 the part which this theme is from) hence the signature pose pointing the finger.

Really happy to hear you react to this one, this is my favorite song from the show. I always get goosebumps from Kakyoin's big moments when this song is blaring.

i absolutely LOVE how you can take a 4-5 song and really deeply analyze it for like 15 minutes, I know nothing about music theory personally apart from grade 6 band and I really enjoy learning new things i never noticed in song i've listened to a hundred times before. Another great song from jojos i recommend would be Bucciarati's theme from part 5 that i would love to see you pick apart and analyze

I have the book by Hirohiko Araki titled "Manga in theory and practice". Araki describes basing the character of Jotaro on clint Eastwood, even the pose with jotaro pointing is actually a reference from the famous Clint Eastwood pose with the gun pointing at the camera. The philosophy behind making a strong character archetype is established very well in the book, I highly recommend it to all artists.

Like the other comments said, he isn't a villain. He's a "JoBro," someone that assists the "JoJo," aka the main character. Keep reacting to the JoJo OSTs! And if you need your first villain OST, as people suggested, react to Kira's 2 Themes or Kars's Theme "Avalon"! All of them are unique in their own ways! (I'm subscribed!)

On the pronunciation question, in Japanese when a name has 3 syllables you generally emphasize syllables 1 and 3, similar to English. So Kakyoin for instance would have the emphasis of KA-kyo-IN, not Ka-KYO-in. It's a common error among English speakers

I love watching you react to Jojo's OST. One of the themes I love the most is Koichi's one titled Courage.

One of the most interesting things about JoJo's OST for me, with how winding the songs are and to how many different places they go, is how you can fit the same theme to lots of different scenes. So if you have, say, a character that first shows up as a villain, then as a friend, then disappears, then makes a triumphant return at the most critical point, you have in the same character theme song a section that fits each of these moods perfectly. It's quite ingenious, really.

I am quite the same as you Tony, in that I've found anime relatively late in my life, but fell in face first and enjoyed a lot of quality that will stay with me for as long as I live, Jojo being of course, one of these. And rightly, a key component to my enjoyment of these things is the music. I'm so glad you're enjoying it too !

Cello entering with theme is absolutely the best part, the long note is covered by what happens in the rest of instruments, and it gradually starts to be on the 1st plane with theme, it's absolutely delicious

If you’re looking for any more Jojo suggestions, “The Hand” is a really cool theme

Something that might be interesting is handpicking your favorite of the OPs and listening to the full songs. As a connoisseur of the full OPs, they add SO much more to the songs it’s absurd. The second OP itself has this Sax part that’s so unhinged that you can’t say you’ve lived without hearing it first. The length of the full tracks also add a lot of variety! For example, OP 4 kind of drags on (though it never overstays its welcome too much), but then you have tracks like Chase (OP 6) which are in and out with surgical precision, injecting rock with a hard bassline straight into your cerebral cortex

I love the reactions. You should listen to some of the villain songs like Avalon and Diavolo's theme song. The pillar men's theme is quite good too along with Kira Yoshikage's. Love the content Tony, keep it up!

I really like your deconstructions of the music I normally just listen to and move on without batting an eye, so thanks for checking out your fan requests. If you plan on reacting to more anime music, I suggest the 3 openings of "Mob Psycho 100", I'm no musical analyzer but they sound great to me and many others, also if you do react to them you must watch the video as well, as the openings are a sort of celebration of animation and can only be described as a psychedelic trip.

Not a villain but definetly sneaky as he is more of the "thinker" of the group. But his major attribute, which you sadly didnt quit hear out, is his determination. Hes a milf-hunting Gamer at heart but will drop everything and do anything for his friends who truely understand him as he was verry lonely for a long time.

Avalon (Kars theme) is villaion theme and it's sooo good. It's one of my faviourites

Dio's theme would be very interesting to dissect, it has a lot of cool subtle sound effects and genuinely sounds dark.

“Sneaky” is actually a really good way to describe him, or more his Stand lol

Kakyoin is my favorite character and I love his theme

I love watching you pick apart aspects of anime ost and opennings, i would love to see you react to Black Clover opennings and the Bleach opennings and osts

The actual title is "Noble Hierophant" according to jojowiki - as Kakyoin's Stand is "Hierophant Green" & since Virtuous Pope is a google-translation. But, doesn't matter much since that is the generally used name for this track. So, Pope Green, why not. We're a One Piece movie plot point now. There're some who might say it's a kinda-basic one, as it could be one of Yugo Kanno's first compositions for JoJo, but I still really love it. And I'm super grateful to see a reaction that's not just to Giorno or Jotaro's themes.

Kakyoin isnt a bad guy. He is one of the protagonists. Explaining him with no spoilers is..Kakyoins character is hyper intelligent, principled, best-boy buddy that does everything he can to not let his friends down. This is my fav theme. So heroic and the melody changes are perfect for a hero powering up or having a moment of clarity. True, the melody does have that epic spaghetti-western, mysterious/heroic vibe. I kinda wish this was Jotaro's theme but Kakyoin is also one of my fav characters so I'm totally OK with it.

Kind of reminds me of Thomes Bergersen / Two Steps from Hell, specifically Blackheart and Skyworld in general. The epic, orchestral sound with electric guitars taking center stage and those deep strings in the background (not a music expert if you can't tell), and the driving rhythm really gives me that vibe.

I would love if you reacted the JoJo ending themes. You may have heard a couple of the songs before, but it would be nice to see a breakdown

Kakyoin starts off as a villain but helps the good guys and he has one of the coolest attacks in the part he is in and its called the emerald splash

A great theme for my favorite character.

I guess he is pretty sneaky, setting up a plan before the bad guy knows what's going on. To me the music also seems to reflect how he didn't have many friends and was very sad before he met Jotaro, so he proves himself over the course of the adventure.

That part that started sounding “mischievous” is just that the ally character is the clever thinker of Part 3’s team. He just figured out the best way to exploit the villain and things are heating up. (I also think that clever thinking is the reason he shares a similar Stand ability with a later JoJo)

Its interesting how you mention westerns, because the show creator Hirohiko Araki is actually a large fan of westerns and the main character of the part where this theme was from, was largely inspired by Clint Eastwood.

You can almost hear Kakyoin yelling his move in broken english 😅💯
