Whole OST but specifically the Harpy song. Its a very simple vocal song and maybe a little less orchestral.

The Nightsong gives me chills everytime I listen to it. It is accompanied by one of the greatest scenes in BG3.

Not spoilers, but the very first drumbeat in Nightsong is perfectly timed in game with someone smashing their fist into the ground. It was an amazing touch that makes the music almost seem diegetic to the characters in the scene!

The composer took on an extra role for himself by also being in charge of how the music is incorporated into the gameplay and it shows in things like that

One of the best moments in the game is when (spoilers) Dame Aylin absolutely minces the head of one of the bosses and yells loud and for everyone to hear: "THE VILLAIN IS DEAD!" It's also preceded by that same boss' line when phase 2 starts: "But it is no matter..." which is one of the most bone chilling speeches in the game.

The nightsong scene in the game is maybe the one that made feel the deepest conection with my emotions in the whole game. I was not crying, you were crying! Its just beautiful.

The fact that some people never heard the Nightsong because of their evil choices in the game is really amazing. Its reserved for the kind hearted people ^^

I got SO hype at that scene. it actually made me so fired up to go fight Ketheric lol

As incredible as the Nightsong music is, it is 100 times more intense when you got involved in the story.

It's even more amazing when you know that he doesn't have any academic education in music and has started to get seriously into it in his late 20s.

Being treated to "The Power" after finishing the game, is just truly remarkable. It perfectly fits to be the song being played during the credits and before I knew it, tears just started rolling from my eyes. All the adventures and memories you made, eventually reaching the conclusion, man. BG3 is truly one of the best games ever made, and this was my first DnD or cRPG for that matter.

@@sickmit3481 Already did. I have around 450 hrs in the game, the longest I have spent on any single player game. Dark Urge playthrough was my favorite as it has a more traditional storyline and that you still have the option to choose how to play it. Man, that moment when you redeem yourself.. truly a hero moment.

But i will probably play through it again in a few months going for a completely different char and picking all the options i havent picked yet. I have allready seen how much content i missed in the underdark on some youtube videos that i had to quickly click away to not spoiler myself more.

I really hope borislav wins the goty award this year.

So about that... Borislav did not win best score/soundtrack. That went to Masayoshi Soken for his work on Final Fantasy XVI, who is a powerhouse in his own right with a similar range. BG3 did, however, win for GOTY, player's voice, community support, best multiplayer, and role playing game.

An OST with quality wherever you look.

You have the context just right. Those early drums are a perfect accent to the moment in the scene that this occurs in. Powerful, emotional, almost overwhelmingly so in the game. This piece is chill-inducing every single time. Gotta play it. Got to experience the full package of what this music is doing in the game. It is masterful composition.

Down By the River has the melody from The Power in the chorus and I Want to Live in the verse. Love it so much.

What a range Borislav Slavov has! Loved how you pointed out the features of “Nightsong” that make it so much more complex than I would’ve ever noticed - if you ever feel like breaking down some more BG3 pieces, I think you’d really like the orchestral combat music like “Twisted Force” and “Nine Blades”

You should check out his work on Divinity Original Sin 2 ( Also By Larian ) Favorite Songs off the top of my head is Path of the Godwoken (Cello Version) , Ifan's Theme, Rivellon and Quirky Bones ( Murky Version). Sorry for the long reply lol.

Oh man you have to watch the Nightsong segment in the game, it's jsut so beautiful and makes the song even better. I've seen this scene like 5 times and I still cry everytime

I love "The Power" so much, I really want to learn the whole piece properly on the piano. Brought me back to reading notes which I haven't done since like 2014 back when I took piano lessons. Borislav Slavov is a genius.

Nightsong makes me cry everytime something really tugs at my heartstrings combined with the context

One the most badass characters in the game. Dame Aylin was such an unexpected surprise. It has to be one of the best depictions of divinity and godlings in most media. By all accounts her lines would be corny but her presence and the voice actor absolutely sends it. Such a larger than life character.

When you get a moment, watch the Nightsong cinematic the song features in, it's something special.

Honestly, BG3 is convincing me to give another shot to learning piano. I've got this nice keyboard that has just been collecting dust, but this music is just so powerful. Love it! And love you reactions and musical breakdowns in these videos! :D

You relly need to play this game. With more than 1,500 hrs of playtime, I can ssay this is the best gaming experience I've ever had. Unforgetable

I'm normally quite passive when playing games, yet the music in BG3 has bought me to tears more than once. Amazing work!

"It's like a war-drum sound, but like way, way off in the distance.... that could just be the way I'm hearing it, and maybe it's not meant to be that way at all." Oh, "Nightsong" *is* meant to be that way at all. Yet more proof that the writing is outstanding!

It brings me such joy to see a man with deep understanding of music delight in the same pieces I enjoy, only to then give a peek behind the curtain and show the patterns and gears turning that produce that omniperceptible effect. Art is even more beautiful when you can appreciate the finesse and insight behind it.

Nightsong is such a great scene! I am at my 3rd playthrough and had this scene yesterday... Gives me chills, the scene is epic and the music enhances this SO MUCH!

I can't listen to this nightsong, even after 100 times, without feeling like crying... but not with sadness... with just... determined emotion? Maybe because my brain ties it to the scene in the game.

Nightsong gives me goosebumps every time. Especially where it plays in the game. If you haven't heard these yet, give them a go: Harpy Song or Weeping Dawn. I also have a thing for Bard Dance - it's just happy. And thanks for your reviews. It's really helped me learn to listen to the music a lot more.

Nightsong makes my eyes well up. Almost considering sneaking it on our upcoming wedding playlist

In the theme of the NightSong, the sounds of drums are very suitable for the plot. In the game, the music starts playing when it is released from its shackles, and the sounds of the drums hit the target directly

For context, it is ABSOLUTELY a war drum.

When the credits roll, this is what we hear. All the emotions compacted into one song, its fantastic. Thanks for reacting to this, great stuff! Looking forward to more Persona at some point. Persona 5 OST - Life Will Change, perhaps? Or I'd love some Kaguya-Sama openings. Especially opening 1 and 2

I always always always so appreciate your expertise, attention to detail and enthusiasm, and finding the BG3 soundtrack such a gorgeous standard raising work I do hope you'll, eventually, go around to covering the whole of it -- especially since there's a lot for a drummer to love there, I think. I'm learning a lot watching, and I'll be here for it all!

The tone and timing of the phrase "down, down, down by the river" seems like it's the backbone of the whole soundtrack.

If you didnt notice, "Down by the River" and "The Power"s chorus is also the same melody as the main theme's motif. Bum, bum, bum, bah, ba-dum bum.

Tony, man, it is indescribable how listening to these songs feels when you've been really invested in the game. I came for the analysis, and now I'm crying.

This version of "The power" plays in the end of the game, after the epic battle and goodbyes to companions, when the credits start, i want to cry just rembering how that felt for the first time. I really hope Borislav gonna win all the awards for this. So envy u didn't play the game yet, it`s amazing

The nightsong scene had my jaw on the floor, truly the moment i fell in love with this game

i CANNOT listen to "The Power" without shedding a tear... While playing the game i only found myself humming some songs but looking back the music really is something else

The final part of this song always makes me tear up a little. First time hearing it i thought the "massive" part was the end, but no, there comes this slow, quiet part that brings up all the emotions❤

Nightsong is just incredible. The scene that follows has the same theme byt turned epic and I live for that piece! Not on the official soundtrack though 😭

I hope you will watch the cutscene or gameplay with the Nightsong, because there are decisions involved that feel like they carry the weight of the entire universe. The entire life story of Shadowheart rests on it and it is the crescendo to the tension that Shadowheart's continuously growing fanatic trance leads up to in the minutes before the face-off.

one of the best battle ost's in the game. I love how reactive the music is in game, like how if you get a crit the music changes into a more heroic uplifting theme

Its a much longer listen, but I highly recommend you take a look at the Symphony of Sin, a live performance of Borislav Slavov's music from both BG3 and Divinity Original Sin 2. You can find it here on youtube. The live orchestral work, transitions between pieces and musical flourishes are amazing. :)

Nightsong hits u diffrent if ur involved into the Story and ur at the part in the game where this music came.. Played BG with my husband and i was the one who was crying xD Music like this or Raphaels Theme makes me emotional all the Time x)

Great stuff. Reckon “The Power” orchestral edges it for me, some really nice things going on there. When I first loaded up the game I probably spent 30 mins in character creation just listening to that wash over me. Brilliant.

3:51 You are literally freeing an Aasamir demigod from hundreds of years of torture and enslavement so that she can help you go fight her imprisoner who is basically immortal. Larian NAILED the music here. Everything from the continual swell of music to the lonely vocal adding harmony and other sounds to the sound of war drums, it describes that scene *perfectly*.

the nightsong intro is part of an extended soundtrack called the power choral version which is like 3 minutes long which plays at an ingame funeral actually im not sure if its the same lines but it sounds like they used the same vocalists and the 3 minute long version is simply 'the power' but in a choral rendition maybe some of that is used in nightsong but i'm not sure kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yolh2aqyhJTgkrA.html

When you asked if the melodic sequence in the power was the same as down by the river, the answer is yes! Actually, that same little falling tune is the main theme to Bg3 and is in almost every song in some capacity.

The Power is one of the songs you can play in game as a Bard so you could have potentially been hearing it the whole game before either song comes up in game. If you get a while bunch of characters playing it together on different interuments it's very impressive.

You don't have to know the scene to hear it's raw and emotional. Hand to the heart at around 1:20 just proves it.

Anybody else think the drum in Nightsong is a little bit reminiscent of a heartbeat? Especially the second verse?

Idk if it’s how I played the game but I didn’t experience The Power until the end credits. It absolutely blew my mind when I found out that there was new music to be heard in a part of the game that most people skip. Such an amazing game. I can’t give enough praise to the entire team. Legitimately a legendary game.

Please do the power (instrumental version), its truly magical, if not that then 'I want to live' or 'down by the river' if you havent already

Honestly, the context makes Nightsong hit so much harder, which is amazing bc it already slaps. Watch the cutscene. Its genuinely worth it even if you dont care about the game at all.

You absolutely should check out Persecution of the Masses from the Shin Godzilla movie OST. That whole OST is great (I love Godzilla) but that one is spectacular. Who Will Know from the same OST is also just absolutely beautiful but also tragic.

There's actually three versions of The Power. The one you didn't mention is the choral version

The thing with "the power" is: The orchestral version is basically just a musical extension from the first song you listened to, the nightsong. It's quite simplified compared to this songversion. I think it's obvious that the song version is the "main thing" and the orchestral is based on that? But also I'm super musically uneducated, don't take anything I say serious, haha. But I can say the song version of the power is really powerful in context of the game, since it only plays when you're done and the credits roll. It hits different after the finale.

Now that you’ve listened to quite a bit of this composers score. How would you characterize his style. What he is drawn to, etc.

Hey DrumRollTony, can you inspect this song? "Trust Last" by Kumi Koda feat. Shonen no Kaze. When I heard it for the first time, it sounded normal. But when I put my headphone and hear it again, it feels odd. The lyrics kinda mismatch the beats. Idk... it suddenly sounds wrong

The only thing I don't like about Nightsong..is that it's too short. I feel it's just...a tad too unresolved but otherwise it's gorgeous First time I heard this piece in game and watched the accompanying scene play out, oof the chills. There was crying too :)

These two songs might be my favorite from the entire OST. The only other that comes close is Raphael's Final Act.

Besides Baldurs Gate, you should react to the some of the songs of the Detroit: Become Human soundtrack, Kara Main Theme is one the most beloved.
