@Udayan Shukla, Agreed that Dada had a keen eye to judge potential of younger generation composers, singers and others in the industry. At the same time he had a word of praise for many to encourage them. I have two videos on this subject on KZread, the 3rd yet to be edited. Madan Mohan was of them who received major encouragement during initial struggle. It's there on his official website maintained by son Sanjeev Kohli. L-P, K-A, son RD, Chitragupta among others have been helped out in one way or other. Bimal Roy wanted SD for Madhumati, Dada suggested Salil Chowdhury's name assuring director that he will do a good job. Dada was a father figure under whom everyone grew to their full potential and beyond. Thanks for comments.

@Ananda SHETTY H ji, A totally non controversial, thorough gentleman, who had a good word for his contemporaries, who encouraged younger generation music directors and assistants, refused to buy awards, a devoted father and a husband, with music as his life, kept to himself, did not promote himself, and a lot more was S. @Vinay Paranjape ji, Everyone does things for recognition and rewards. I would have got mine if the younger generation realises the greatness of Kumar Sachin Dev Burman who left his riches to pursue his passion for music. He roamed around in villages of North East, Bihar and United Provinces, on foot and boats, sat with farmers on the mud floors in search of folk music and popularised it by creating film music based on it, so that our folk music does remains alive and does not die. See all the videos, about 150+, and know how great was the master. Thanks for encouraging words. 🙏

swapan sengupta ji, It's my pleasure to bring out to the world the phenomenon that Sachin Dev Burman was, not only as the best singer and composer. There's a lot yet to be shared, and I have less time. There are 4 books on SD, all of them put together do not do enough just to the genius that he was. My reason for these interviews was to let the world know from those who knew SD first hand. Thanks for encouragement. There are more videos under preparation.

was quite right that though S. D. Burman was senior in age and as Music Director to him but he was inspired by Khaiyyam's tune of the Film Phir Subah Hogi. Sometimes that might happen and why not to speak about it. Now, it is up to music stalwarts to find out whether it is true or not. also had become a legend himself like Dada Burman in his own right.

Brajagopal ji, Sachin Dev Burman was the most respected composer in those days, and also most in demand. Producers and directors knew that if Dada agree to take up the music, the songs will be super hit. That's why he remained in demand till his last days.

Niranjan Basnyat Thanks for comments. Besides being an excellent composer, Burman Dada was a very good human being.

It is Surprising that Dada himself being so choosy about taking films, told Khayyam not to be choosy ! Also Khayyam is too selfish to say that Dada has taken / was inspired from his tune-Aasman pe hai khuda- for Gun guna rahe hain bhawra. There may be some similarity in meter but it can be independent also.

Sribhai, That was a right advice to the newcomer Khayyam who was struggling. Dada's story was different as work or no work, he was getting paid by Filmistan from day one.

Peeyush bhai, Coming from you, the appreciation is more significant. Khayyam sahib was too eager to talk even though he had been hospitalised twice before this telephone interview. Dada advice not to be choosy was useful to him after which he stayed and became one of the best. Burman Dada has done this often with his juniors, not bothered about competition.

Peeyush Sharma And then music director Roshan who initially was struggling. I remember having read that Burman Dada assured him that his music was good and he will surely succeed. And Roshan did succeed. It was the confidence that Dada gave to all these younger generation music directors.

Subhasish Ghosh Appreciate your request. If you want to know more about Burman Dada advising him not to be choosy, when Khayyam sahib was struggling, it was Dada's nature to help and encourage younger music directors and advise them how to survive and create their best. Those who benefited included Jaidev, Pancham, Roshan, Chitragupta, Madan Mohan, Kalyanji-Anandji. Khayyam is not keeping good health and I am not in favour of troubling him.

माफ़ कीजिएगा..ख़ैय्याम साहब ने बर्मन दादा के जिस धुन का प्रयोग करने की बात कही है उसके पीछे की सच्चाई पर मुझे गहरा संदेह है।दादा जिस स्तर के संगीतकार हैं लोग उनकी नकल करें ये बात समझ में आती है,लेकिन उन्हें किसी का नकल करने की क्या ज़रुरत है?कई बार ऐसा होता है कि दो धुनें एक-दूसरे से बहुत करीब से होकर गुजरती हैं इसलिए ऐसा आभास होता है।दादा बहुत स्वाभिमानी रचनाकार रहे हैं,दुनिया इस बात से बेख़बर नहीं है।दादा अपने क्षेत्र के वैज्ञानिक हैं..।

Burman sahib sabhi tarah ke music mein maahir thay, phir chaahe Woh shaastriya ho, folk ho, fusion music, western ho, etc. Unko koi zaroorat nahin thi kisi ki naqal kare. Balki, doosron ne unki copy ki. Yeh baat bhi sahi hai ki laakhon songs hain, kahin kuchh milta jhulta ho to possible hai. Aap SD Burman ke baare mein aur jaan-na chaahein to hamaare saare videos dekh leejiye. Aur hamaari SD Burman ki group join kariye. Aap Ka Shukriya.

Yeh unki aadat thi sabko praise aur encourage karne ki, unmein Naushad, Roshan, Madan Mohan, Shankar (S-J) Chitragupt, OP Nayyar, aur kayi thay. 4. Hamaare liye SD Burman 1, 2 aur 3. position pe hai aur aap ke liye Madan Mohan 2. number per hai. Yeh har ek ki apni apni pasand, kisi ko koi problem nahin chaahiye. 5. @@harshitsakariya1240 ki, SD Ka ek hi beta, aur RD ki do shaadiyon se kuchch nahin. Suna hai ki pehli aurat Rita Patel ke time unko koi aulad nahin chaahiye thi. Aap ki yeh baat bhi sahi hai ki SD ka beta sirf ek hi nikla Jo utna mashoor hua, koi doosra nahin hua. Uske liya shabhash guru samaan pita ko milegi kyonki RD bacha hoke man chanchal tha aur riyaz ke time gayab ho Jata tha. Aur baap bahut hi pyaar se Calcutta se leke Aaye kyonki beta padhayi nahin kar raha tha. Waise bhi SD ke shaagird Madan Mohan aur Jaidev bhi thay jo dono mashoor hue. SD khud bahut mahir thay singer aur composer number one thay. Classical, folk aur western music mein behtreen thay. Jitna likha jaaye utna kam hai.
